Yes I guess it originally was from one of those. Had it on my E10 for a while but have now reverted back to standard with my specs.

Hi Steve, It's a '73 with 10mm posts on the head rests. I've ended up taking it to my 02 specialist as I couldn't figure it out without causing any potential damage. Better safe than sorry! 😉

I've unscrewed the mid/lower section of the back of the seat for access, but can't seem to locate the clips as I think they are tucked behind the upper part of the seat backing, but not sure. Attached are a couple of (probably not helpful!) pictures taken from the back of the seat looking up. Any thoughts on where I should be routing around to try and free them? I've sprayed lubricant on what I think I may be the right area

Ah the clip being stuck may well be it as I don't think they have had headrests installed before.

I've recently bought some headrests and the drivers one fits nicely, but in the passenger seat, if I look down the hole where the headrests post should go, there seems to be a metal bar which is stopping them about 5cm in. Any idea's what this is and what I can do? Can I drill through it?

Yeah that is my worry, I guess it will be a bit of a try and fit it and see what happens scenario. If it doesn't work then may have to revert to a thinner more tech solution

Ha! I did that today for 3 hrs, sat at about 4k rpm (although with some LTJ Bukem rather than The Stones). Gave me time to think about noise reduction, and yes I think you may be right but worth a try 😎

Nice one! I've got quite thick felt deadening for the floor, but I've seen some fairly thin "high tech" deadening which I guess would work for the doors?

I'm planning on getting round to replacing the carpet soon and will also be replacing the sound deadening at the same time. Hopefully this will make it more bearable on long journeys, but was also thinking, is it possible to sound deaden the doors too? I haven't taken the door cards off before so not sure if this is viable. Will window mechanisms etc. get in the way?

Hmm...I bought some headrests a while back and had them re-covered to match the seats which were being re-upholstered at the same time. Only problem was I (stupidly) didn't check the strut diameter first; they are 12mm rather than the 10mm I need for my earlier type seats. Any idea's on how I could make them fit (sensible ones please 😀 ), given how hard it is to find headrests (particularly here in the UK)? I thought about drilling the holes in the seats, but given the seats are full of horse hair I predict a fire!

Hello. I've recently fitted some Rota RB wheels (15") and they didn't come with centre caps. Can anyone help with what I should be searching for to source the correct type of centre cap? Is it the bottle top type (e21/e30?) Like this: eBay BMW centre caps ? Thanks!
