  1. Yeah for a valve adjustment. Thank you will do it that way than.
  2. understood. What would be the ideal way to do it that would not cause strain?
  3. Looking to see if someone has one and or knows where I can buy one. Thank you!
  4. good to know. But csb preload was last correct?
  5. So I just finished installing a new short shifter, e21 trans mount and now putting the new flex disk back in. I couldn’t find exact instructions on the manual online so need some advice. Does the center support bearing need grease if I’m reusing the one on there. Step 1) tighten the guibo to the trans first? Is there a torque value? Step 2) put the driveshaft in and bolt it against the diff and the new guibo. does it matter what is tightened first? step 3) pre load the center support bearing? pushing It 2mm towards the transmission and tightening it down? finished? I just would rather do it right then me make a silly mistake. Side note, Having to retrofit a short shifter to a Getrag 240 was a mission haha.
  6. Sorry but what does brown bolt heads mean? is that a type of bolt and or a process so they turn brown?
  7. good to know. I wonder if people put this on painted subframes as added protection. But thank you! I’m assuming it doesn’t affect the use of loctite?
  8. Good to know as well. Is there a sizing info somewhere to know what size for what item on the car?
  9. Ok, I’ll look into it. Thank you!! Do you heat the bolts first? Does that affect the use of loctite?
  10. Thanks Fred! Would clear coat affect the threads? As far when tightening the nuts onto the bolts. Thanks as always! If I was restoring everything at once, I would definitely get all the bolts just zinc coated at once but since that’s not the case, I’m looking at options at home. Would clear coat affect the threads such as when tightening the nuts onto the bolts since clear I’m assuming would change the thickness of the threads. Maybe not.
  11. Any way of reusing/refinishing bolts without getting them plated? I just don’t want them to rust after using a wire wheel to clean them up but I’m not sure if I do blackening method with some oil will that affect the integrity of the bolt and or affect the loctite used to hold the nut. I’m currently doing the flex disk, trans mount, csb, shifter and while some of those things are out, I’m also painting the softer brackets and would like to find a way to clean up the bolts but makes sure they don’t rust again. I am using new self locking nuts for the guibo though.
  12. Currently replacing the flex disk, center support bearing, transmission mount and decided I’ll rebuild the shifter. Question 1: I can’t get the shifter out of the car for my life bc of the stupid Allen bolt is. I doubt it has ever been touched but I have heated it and used pb blaster but just can’t seem to loosen. Any ideas? Question 2: Am I missing a bolt on my shifter rod where in the photo is circled? Is it a dowel pin because there isn’t anything there yet it looks like there is a thread so something use to be there I’m assuming. thanks all!
  13. Anyone have a saddle brown bottom drivers seat, lower rear seat, door panels and or front bumper brackets (not sure the year I need but I think it’s 71 and earlier. Bumper I have is from a 69 I believe). Pm me please if you have any items. Looking for no rips. Thanks all! 73 2002
  14. I have a 73 2002. Looking for front strut housings set. Don’t need shocks or springs. No idea the going rate is. PM if anyone has a set and willing to ship and or near 20852. hoping to find something in the 100 dollar price point. I only need good condition knuckles with some tubing above. If not, I’m not in a rush. Thanks all
  15. ok good to know! I figured but I asked bc someone said they did that. im not sure how it necessarily looked. I wasn’t sure what to look for but I figured it needed to be replaced.
  16. Hey all, turns out my guibo is F’d and I wanted to know if there is anything else that’s a good idea to replace while I’m under that area? So far I figured I’d buy a new guibo, center support bearing, e21 trans mount, new set locking hex bolts. questions. meyle vs genuine for the flex disk? do people ever put the flex disk hardware (towards the rear and nut towards the front) all one way to never worry about a bolt coming undone towards the transmission? Can I reuse the hex bolts for the e21 mount? I noticed I need to enlarge the crossmember hole but didn’t understand if that means the old hex bolts won’t work for the e21 Mount? should I paint the driveshaft with por15? Am I missing anything? Hope all are staying safe!
  17. Thats interesting and thank you for showing me the difference. I love the look Bruce’s car. That’s exactly what I’m looking to achieve and it seems like he uses stage 2 ie springs for the rear and that looks perfect. Which saves me money for the rear haha. But I feel like I’ve seen front lower with springs alone when comparing to the clarion build. That’s really why I’m so turn bc I have biltstens in my car now but with stock springs. But maybe I can put ie stage coils in the front and maybe cut a spring. I just don’t want to spend the time cutting my strut and finding the appropriate shocks for that.
  18. I understand. Something like this. low enough to cover the gap between the tire and fender.
  19. Good question. I wonder what the max drop would be until I start to get a bad effect. I don’t know how low I was going to go exactly but I’m assuming 1.5 to 1.75. I want it to still be driveable and not worry about every bump on the road. My reasoning with coils is the ease to switch out tire/wheel combos and adjust to them. I just want to close the gap between my 15in bbs and the fender. I also just don’t want to bottom the shock out.
  20. Well I was referring to putting the coilover conversion onto a stock strut housing and using my current shocks. I’ve seen the stance thread and seen all the spring/shock combos. Coilovers was just thought since maybe I’ll change wheel/tire combos and would want to be able to adjust accordingly and quickly. I’m worried if I don’t shorten the strut will I bottom the shock out with coilover conversion.
  21. My goal is to just be able to lower the car to have a nice stance but not looking to track it. Can that be achieved without shortening the strut housing or will the ride be horrible? Does anyone have it done without shortening the housing and using it with their Koni and Or bilsteins shocks? What are your thoughts? Regardless of going with gc coilover kit and or getting the parts from IE. Their setups look fairly similar. Thanks all!
  22. I would’ve taken it if I didn’t have Esty make me a whole kit for me which I just recently had delivered. But I’m sure someone will want it as it’s nearly impossible to find that carpet now a days especially in that condition. Thank you though! I guess we will see what happens.
  23. Well unfortunately I can’t afford the whole interior. But if for anyone who wants to buy it, I’ll buy what I need from. That’s of course those who buy it don’t need those pieces in particular. Otherwise; the search continues.
