  1. Hit up a local shop that repairs PCs and ask them for a couple of dead hard drives. The magnets you can harvest from them are strong enough to make blood blisters if they snap together with a piece of skin between them. Laptop hard drives have smaller magnets - use a stiff piece of wire to fish a string through the member, tie on the magnet and pull it through. (it's hard to push the magnet through as it wants to snap down on anything ferrous. I have hot glued them to a rod when I had a straight shot and just needed uber-magnetism).
  2. Looking at realoem it shows these two four speed - I'm not familiar enough with either to know which one is considered the short necked model. From what I see in the parts manual, the bottom-most of the two transmissions was in the ti and TiSA. If that's what you're looking for I have the part number (and have a couple that are earmarked for my transmission should it need them - but I'm happy to use a Faro arm to get you a 3D model basic dimensions if having those would allow you to have them made.) 3. I have a 2 liter m10 that was prepped by Nerus - it really deserves to have the matching valve cover. 180hp, 0 miles since rebuilt in 74, 200+ psi cold compression numbers across all four cylinders! I know it may take forever to find one, so just hanging this out here for when someone needs to find a deserving home for one. Thanks, Barrett
  4. Have you measured the thickness of it?
  5. I'm lucky to have a wife who does get it - I had a potential lead on a stamped front hood trim piece, she told me to give her the information so she could buy it for me for valentine's day. Turns out the guy didn't have it any more, but what a good present for someone who owns a '67, right?
  6. The first two or three letters on a German license plate are the region code, KF is for Kaufbeuren, Bavaria - as you know, home of Alpina prior to moving to Buchloe where they are today. There evidently is some debate as to whether or not the plates in the below picture were Burkard Bovensiepen's personal plates (and if the picture was touched up to make it more dramatic):

  8. I suspect that just because it has Bilstein stamped on it doesn't particularly mean that they are who made converted the struts to using adjustable perches - I picked up this set from a Swedish hillclimb racer, judging by the welds they were just done by some individual. Barrett
  9. Do you know if the V1 struts had negative camber built into them? Per Google translate the ad states the a negative camber kit is available on request - would that have been negative camber plates?
  10. Found one - NOS with the box and papers. Some guy in Australia has reproduction stickers that I can use to make it an exact match 🙂.
  11. +1 for the smoke being valve guides. I have a rebuilt Nerus m10 that hasn't been run since it was rebuilt in 74 where the compression numbers are all over 200 psi. I don't know the compression but I'm told it dyno'd around 180 hp. Do you know the specs for the rebuild? 20210818_205329.mp4

  13. Yikes - all these chewed up hard to find parts is making me worried about what I'll find when I get to inspecting the Getrag 229 on my car!
  14. I think these are them - they were part of a parts group where they'd come off an early 1600-2, owned and wrecked by the brother of the owner of the car I bought. There was a full set, I sold them to a FAQ member.
  15. Now that we know the details of it, the real question becomes - where is it today? Glad to see that pic with a date showing the car in good condition being driven like it was built to be driven in 2020!
  16. I had thought that Alpina had higher lockup percentages available, am I wrong?
  17. @uai if you have any details on identifying an original 320 or 324 cam can I ask you to pm them to me?
  18. You want about 28 psi, volume should be (pick one) 29 gal/hr, 1.83 liter/min, or 0.46 liter/15 sec. Unless originality is a major issue for you my advice for replacing the pump would be to use the 5 series pump part number 16-14-1-179-232 as documented in the link below. You'll need a thin piece of rubber hose to split and wrap around it to make it the right diameter for the bracket, but other than that the replacement is straightforward. While you're at it, consider adding an electronic fuel pump cutoff, the Ford ones are cheap and work well - they can be mounted in the trunk where there is already a connector, just add a pigtail to the switch with the right ends to tie into the harness and plug it right inline. my2002tii.com -- TII Fuel Pump Upgrade How-To WWW.MY2002TII.COM Be sure to track down and clean all the fuel filters! If your pressure is low look at this thread as well for how to adjust the pressure regulator valve.
  19. And Steelman has a new version with wireless microphones - but more expensive. I see where they sell separately the probe for their EngineEAR electronic stethoscope which uses the same headset as the ChassisEar, I'm going to pick one up.
  20. I believe it's Saxon over in the UK that has a kugelfischer modification where they use a stepper motor in place of the cone. I wonder how quickly you can vary the input to the kugelfischer internals metering system, I'm betting with a closed loop modern system driving it that you'd have to dial things back.
  21. 1974 BMW 2002tii Alpina A4 5-Speed for sale on BaT Auctions - ending November 14 (Lot #127,451) | Bring a Trailer BRINGATRAILER.COM Bid for the chance to own a 1974 BMW 2002tii Alpina A4 5-Speed at... It'll be interesting to see how it does given the last one.
  22. Imron is amazing stuff. Sorry to go a bit off topic - but as a kid my family's body shop got the contract to paint the city fire trucks - with high visibility yellow green Imron paint. There was some paint left over, and being incredible paint, my Dad decided that our 62 International Scout should be painted with it. I can't hear mention of Imron paint without remembering this - police would wave me through at traffic accidents, because obviously who else but someone with the fire department would have that color?I never understood how they could see a 17 year old kid and think, "He must be with the Fire Department? Sure a 6' 128 lb 17 year old kid, that's a fireman!" 🤣 @Mike Self Did you ever see that little Scout running around Beavercreek?
  23. I'd suggest considering splicing a short section of cable with an end already attached. I've had less than stellar results with attempting to find a decent quality replacement plug, and without a decent one I think your odds are better splicing a new end on. A good x-acto or utility knife to cut through the sheath and other layers is key, you'll need to cut the insulation so that you can get in to solder the center conductor, then replace the central insulation, wrap the shield back (soldering it to if metal mesh) and then finish off with shrink wrap tubing.
