  4. Burned out a starter that was eight months old - smoke from the solenoid and everything. Thankfully, it has a "Lifetime Warranty" from O'Reilly Auto Parts and is the e30 Bosch Starter that is a nice upgrade. So, replaced it and tried to start and a turn and the not so fun to hear click, click, click of no power. Took battery out and tested it - good battery. Consulted with my mentors and checked wiring on the starter and nothing. So the idea of grounding issues came up and one of my mentors (Doug Caine - thank you sir!) suggested to bypass the ground and go directly from the negative terminal of the battery to the engine block with a jumper cable and she started right up. Moral of the story - I bought a big pack of Dremel Wire Wheels and will be cleaning the grounds and replacing the ground strap - greasing everything with good grease so the clean spots don't rust. All good now - have to wait for the new ground strap!

  7. I bought a set from the FAQ and I don't need it and I upgraded a set from my 73 and it turns out the ones that were installed are also Bilsteins, so I have two sets of Bilstein Strut Inserts Each set looks good - no leaks that I can see. Being sold as is plus shipping from 27614 and I accept Paypal and Venmo. If using Paypal and you want to use pay for a service or good please add the extra fee. included with both sets is the gland nuts and the strut top rubber covers (In Black with one set and Blue with the other). One set is missing the top locking nut, but you can reuse the locking nut from your current setup.
  8. I have three fuel sending units that are all in working order - tested in tanks hooked up and they read correctly. They have also been cleaned and polished. #1 is 215mm long VDO made in Czech and comes with the plastic piece #2 is 215mm long VDO made in Germany #3 is 197mm long VDO made in Germany and comes with the screen - I am not sure which 02 or other BMW it is for (If anyone knows please let me know) $85 per firm as it is is what I have in each one. Shipping is extra. Paypal or Venmo, and if you use PayPal and want to buy a good or service, you need to add the extra fee. You may need the Fuel Pump Tank Seal (O-Ring), the Plastic Nipple for the Fuel Sender, and the screen (which can be cleaned and reused)
  9. I am interested in your spacers.  How much to ship to 27614?

  10. This past week I sorted the suspension - front and rear. For the front, that means: 1. Replacing the tie rods end to end 2. Replacing Ball Joints - involved drilling out rivets in control arms and lots of new BMW hardware all around 3. Replacing Bilstein Strut Insert with Bilsteins Sports - turns out the old ones are still good - oh well, had new ones so on they went 4. Replacing Coils - Stock to Suspension Technique Lowering by 1"+ 5. Replacing Strut Bearings 6. POR 15 Silver the Brake Calipers after cleaning them up 7. New bushings on sway bar ends and had to replace one of the long M8 Bolts as it was bent at the bottom - common issue from what I am reading For the rears: 1. Checking Bilsteins Sports that are already in - no leaks and look good 2. Replacing stock coils with Suspension Technique - lowered by 1+ to match the front 3. Cleaning out the wheel wells - what a mess! Took the car out for a ride and I love the new handling characteristics and she is super smooth and quiet. Thanks to everyone on the FAQ for their help and support!
  11. I just upgraded from stock to Bilsteins Sports All around and ST Springs. Impressive change in ride dynamics. OK, so I also replaced the Tie Rods from end-to-end, the strut bearings, and the ball joints, so it a new smooth ride. The control arms and ball joints were a royal pain because my control arms had the original rivets and I needed to drill them out. A friend recommended to replace the three bolts with the safety cable, so I did that too - still need to wire up the new safety cable. I thought I would share a picture of the stock coils vs the Suspension Technology ones - makes a big difference on ride height and overall handling.
  12. Great write-up. Do not forget the safety cables through the bottom three 13mm nuts and it is strongly suggested to buy new ones versus using he old ones. Also, remember to torque to the correct specs and use the right hardware all around. I use an impact gun on the shock top but andnit comes right off, same for the ball joint but. Many of the. All joints do not come with the hardware for mounting and my Ball Joints on my 73 came out easily. The rivets control arms were quite another story. Drilling the rivets outs and proceeding added tons of time. Also, use some zip ties to hold the springs in place helps a bunch on installation. Good luck all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
