I have found every 2002 owner to be approachable and willing to spend time chatting and offering help/parts if needed. It was last year when I was dropping my kids off at school in my 6spd custom chassis e60 when my wife called and said she passed a silver, I corrected her mispronunciation of Polaris, 2002 driving into our neighborhood.
It was a quick drop off as I raced home to get Sister Mary Matthew to go 2002 hunting. We cruised up the main drag and found it about 25 minutes later. I walked into the office building where the car was parked and began to ask anyone and everyone if they knew who owned the cool BMW outside. After a bit of side eye, I was told to hang tight and the front desk worker walked upstairs to grab Charlie. I told him the story about the last 30 minutes and we went out to the parking lot to talk. We went through each others cars and he gifted me the tumble weed fire starters and charcoal that he had in his truck as he was showing me his shock towers. Charlie is now the 9th member of our St. Louis chapter and someone I consider a friend. Needless to say, I always keep me eyes peeled for 2002s. Photo of that run in is below.
