Hi all - I'm in the same boat: current door locks with no key. Where is the key number located for new keys to be cut? Cheers,

Steve, et al, thanks for the knowledge! I reached out to Longstone to inquire if the 185/70 size would be a problem for the 4.5" rims. They said it's not ideal but doable. Your thoughts? Is there anything I should be aware of for mounting? Thanks again,
-
I'm willing to spend for the Pirellis or Michelins and I'd like a little wider tire while still keeping a stock look. So...the mind wanders and I ponder the options for :wider (5 - 5.5 ) or larger (14" ) wheels. And here we are. So what would a $1500 budget yield? Thanks for the replies, as always
-
My '68 1600 has the original 13 x 4.5 steel wheels. I need new tires and I'm running into well-known issues of availability. I'm looking for wheel options in 13" and 14" varieties that will accommodate new rubber.

WTB '68 1600 Brake Booster
Mars55 replied to Mars55's topic in BMW 2002 and Neue Klasse Parts Wanted
**Bump Anyone? I've had some replies but no winner. I've got to get my 1600 on the road! Thanks -
Yes, I need a 'tuna can' brake booster for a 1968 1600. One that is known to work would be terrific.

Air intake pre-heat valve - How to refurb?

Thanks for the knowledge! -
Hi all - I've searched the archives but I can't find some info on how to clean out and refurbish this little box. The lever doesn't move. It looks like one side can be pried off but there are two pins that hold one end in place. Thanks for the help!

WTB: Early 02 pedal box, brake booster
Mars55 replied to Mars55's topic in BMW 2002 and Neue Klasse Parts Wanted
Hey all - Still in need of a pedal box, MC, and booster for my switch from manual to hydraulic clutch. Please send pics and your ask. Thanks, -
Mike, thanks. Here's what I see looking at the hub: the male connector is on the left side pointing towards the dash. The female lead fits, tightly, in a gap between the left stalk and the center. I can't see this going another way but it's a tight fit. As for the spring loaded nib on the back of the steering wheel, that's fixed in place. I really can remember how this fits together...

Hi everyone - I'm re-installing the steering wheel on my '68 1600 and....I can't find the pics when I removed it, dang it. 1. where do I thread the horn lead thru -- inside the stalk assemblies or outside? (right or left side?) 2. How does the inner ring with the copper align with the wheel? 3. any other tips? See pictures. Thanks for the help!
-
Great, thanks. I'll need to get a big lug tool to crimp it. These 3 red wires connect ignition, fuse box to + terminal which is why I need to get it done right. Thanks again!
-
Yes, thanks. I'm thinking of replacing all three since I have the loom out. What would you say are the gauges? What size lug?
-
Well, while I'm here, this is what the 3-red wire to battery + looks like on the harness I'm installing. Yikes. The trio should be joined on one ring connector, right?
-
Yes, indeed, this grey/red wire is an extender and branches off the license plate wires. I still can't see where the female connector is or goes. Thanks for the cleaning/disassembly tips. Onward.
-
My 68 doesn't have the side markers, etc but the harness is from perhaps a later 1600 that did, which is why I didn't recognize it. I assume I'll leave it disconnected. I was wondering if these junction blocks can be pulled apart to clean. Each wire appears to have a barb that holds in the block. There are two other such blocks in my car: a 3-way in the engine and a 5 way under the dash. I'm in Chicago, btw. Thanks for the help!

Hey all - I'm replacing wiring in my 1600 and the new (old) loom has a few connectors like the one pictured. This one is in the trunk and I don't know what connects to it. What are these connectors used for? Any reason to disconnect them ( and if so, how?) Thanks
