  1. NOS or “new Old Stock” might as well mean be prepared to pay through the _______ (fill in the blank). It’s a bit of a risk as the manufacturers date is sometimes also not known, condition while “new” is still “old” or worse it’s something someone claims is NOS but actually isn’t. Anyway i guess the point is when buying on eBay (or anywhere online for that matter) where you can’t inspect what you are buying is somewhat risky. Sure you can buy from a reputable seller and that certainly lowers the risk but there is still some there. I opine on this subject, because I just begrudgingly shelled out way to much money for some NOS sunvisors. Pictured below. I did this because - well “NOS” to me....is a sirens song. I can’t resist. Especially, when it comes to cosmetics. So if you have some “NOS” parts feel free to PM me...I just might overpay to buy them from you. Wish me luck.
  2. I can’t see the slide release mechanism from the picture. Are these ones that have the levee in the front? Like the pic.
  3. I am looking to buy seat slider rails for both left and right side of my car. These rails will have the slide release mechanism in the front. Please send pictures and cost shipped to Area code 22204
  4. Dang it - I don’t have these - makes sense though. I’ll through up a WTB as I’m not interested in modifying the risers
  5. I didn’t quite have the terminology correct above “seat riser” was what I was missing from my description. its that the metal seat risers on the 68 don’t have the holes for the screws and the paddle shaped lever to be mounted and come through the riser and the carpet. im guessing this was as a result of the lever being on the seat. To overcome this and install the e21 Recaro with the side adjustersI guess I’m either going to have to modify the metal on the seat risers? is there an alternative?
  6. Seeking some comments and advice. I’ve searched the faq and think that maybe I’m using the wrong search terms to find what I’m looking for. So my 71 parts car has seat slider release mechanisms held into the metal frame base with three bolts. Sorry I don’t have a picture as I’m not with the car but I’ll take some later this week. I searched the web and found some representative pictures. The car with the Brown seats has the mechanism, but it appears that the cars with the black seats don’t. I went out out to my parts car and I removed the slider mechanism with the intent on installing in my 68 project car. Nothings easy - so the 68 either was manufactured differently (most likely) without the provisions (holes for screws and lever to stick out the side) for this part or I have homemade seat metal frames in my car. from the pictures of black seats - it does appear that there is a lever in front and not on the side for sliding back and forth. If that’s the case what are my slider options? I have the 71 rails and mechanisms and Recaro adapters for the future installation of my e21 Recaro seats. Thanks!
  7. 90mm clck on the title “unboxing Ross forged pistons” of the blog link above and it will take you to all the pics of the specs.
  8. So I tried to avoid buying the bracket/ made my own- broke it - ordered the repair bracket.
  9. All new never installed. rocker locks set - $50 Dual valve springs set $120 Titanium valve spring retainer set $100
  10. Just in case there is someone out there with chassis vin 1663362. I have the engine from that car. It came with my 68 1600 and I’m not using it. At some point in the last 50 years someone swapped it in and pulled out my original motor. I’m speculating that the chassis is long gone. I’m building a new Hotrod motor (engine from a 1972 car with provisions for a/c brackets) for my car and thought I’d sell the other engine (from 1663362) at some point. I’ll post a for sale ad at some point in the classifieds if this attempt to reunite matching vin motor and chassis comes up short. Julia from Bmw info-archive says: “The BMW 2002 US VIN 1663362 was manufactured on September 20th, 1968 and delivered on September 30th, 1968 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060.”

  12. Anyone want to sell me their Clips so I can install my headliner - can easily buy new ones but thought I would check here first. Thanks Dion
  13. Looking for a set - not interested in ones that are more then a mortgage payment.
  14. While I continue to slowly rebuild my heater box - going on several weeks, I got a few other things done today. - Raided the parts car (orange car in pics) or a few things Removed and installed radio antenna circle clip that keeps the roller on the hood release bar end. I pulled out my rear door cards from the attic, Cleaned and painted them with sem products to match the cardinal red e21 Recaros and and e24 rear seats that are awaiting installation. grinded all the rust of my license plate frame and began painting that. ordered new fresh air duct hoses (the ones under the dash and connected to the heater box). Ordered these from a vow shop. Thanks to a quick search of the faq found the hose for 8.95 plus shipping. Love it.. if you need to do the same it’s a .50mm fresh air duct hose - google that and you will find what you need. all that’s left now on the heater box is final assembly. And installation. If if you followed my earlier post about the 10:1 pistons I'm chickening out. Ordered 9.5:1 instead. So those Ross forged 10:1 will be on sale soon in the faq classifieds.
  15. I realized as soon as I posted the picture that my twilight alignment is a bit challenged. That will be a small satisfying correction in the am. Cheers
