  1. nice! how long can you leave the metal bare before flash rust becomes an issue? Did you prime it right away?

  4. So, quick background. I recently picked up a 1968 Caribe 1600-2. # 1562051. It had been sitting in Arizona for over 20 years (according to PO), so Its in need of a complete make over. Haven't done anything to it yet except take some inventory of what it will need replaced to try and start it. This will be my first attempt at a full restoration, so it will be a very slow process. Looks to be relatively dry. the only rust I found so far is a small hole at the bottom of a fender and some small holes in the spare tire well. Im sure I'll find more when i start removing the coating on the floors, but its mainly surface rust throughout. Anyway. while casually looking through the old manuals, I found some hand written papers that appear to be a parts list to previous work to the engine. No dates, so who knows when it was actually done. I remember seeing a picture of these pages by the PO in the for sale ad, but completely forgot about them until the other day. The PO said it was handwritten by the her father (or father in law..cant remember), who owned the car before he passed away. It was very cool to find some history of the car. Here are the pics of the parts list. Love the "no smog bullshit" comment . haha
  5. Those swan mirrors are nice! I'll be restoring the car back to original condition, so I'll be on the hunt for the correct mirror. But its not in the current budget. Thanks for all the input guys. RCM3. I'll shot you a PM to see how much you want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Can anyone tell me if this mirror could be original to my car? It came with a 1968 1600-2 that I bought, but it wasn't mounted. It was in the trunk. The PO couldn't guarantee that it was original to the car? The car has a Dec 20, 1967 build date.
  7. Just found one Thanks everyone!
  8. I read a few posts on here where it was stated that they are all the same. But Im not sure myself. I checked a few auto parts sites, and they all came back as the same part # for 2002 and 1600 through out all years.
  9. Looking for a working ignition switch for my 1968 1600. tumbler and key would be great, but not a deal breaker. TIA!
