  1. I always wanted a Colorado Orange or a Taiga Green tii anyway. I hope one of these cars find me 😄 🤣
  2. I couldn't agree more. I think at the end of the day the lasting memories are made interacting with the members here, working on our cars and enjoying the ride. The seller claims to be aware of the "fair market value" of his collectible car in spite of my sharing of comparables from BAT and elsewhere. For me to see the car I have to invest half a Saturday and/or Sunday driving to the seller's location which I don't mind but when I told him I'm looking at 5-7K range he says he is not interested and that not being in a rush to sell he will wait for it to gain further value or in the worst case scenario part it out for gobbs and gobbs of money. God bless him. He seems to have a solid plan to become rich.
  3. It seems the vast majority if not the full majority suggest I move on unless a deal can be struck in the 5-7K and a strong stomach on my part to get busy with repairs and lots of TLC. And I agree with you. Someone had asked why a tii and the answer is the love for the mechanical injection and history of the model. I already own a 73 Golf 2002 and a 69 Chamonix 1600 in various stages of restoration but a tii was always the holy grail. And the ultimate goal, at least the way it ends up working out for me, is to restore it and enjoy driving it until I can and then when I can't someone else can worry about the trouble of selling it and making or not making money on it. I also feel a connection to the car is necessary for me for this feeling to materialize and typically this comes through doing some restoration work on it. Buying a fully restored car doesn't guarantee the same kind of connection to a vehicle for me. Having said all this it seems perhaps in equal parts the seller for this one might be a bit too irrational and the project too big for my undertaking for a deal to materialize. Thank you for taking the time and effort to drop a word of wisdom
  4. I've been chatting and learning more about the car. The claim is the car was running and driving well before he lost the key, left it where it was parked and forgot about it. So the car currently has no key. I told him at minimum he needs to either find the key or get the key from the dealer. He has sent me a couple of tii that are for sale for 30 or 40K and thinks his could be made to be worth as much with a little bit of TLC but i told him he's smoking some tall trees to believe that. He said come take it for 15K as is. It suggests to me like wants to sell his car and knows that in its glory days it was worth a lot but is slowly coming to terms with the fact that it's not a 20K car
  5. Like I said I will offer what I think is a fair price if he says no I won't be butt hurt about it
  6. He's asking 20K but says he's flexible. I am willing to offer only what I feel is the car is worth independent of his asking price. My budget is also quite flexible.
  7. I guess skill I have enough. I also have the means (a lift and tools) to do the work. Body work including rust repair I can't do and would have to outsource. But the availability of parts for repairs is what concerns me a little bit
  8. I've come across a 1972 BMW 2002tii that hasn't run for a few years. Originally in riviera but resprayed red (shame). Owner claims to have owned it for the last 10 years and used to drive it as his daily before it was parked and forgotten. I'm learning more and more about the car and have plans to go see it in person. He says he's negotiable on price. My plan would be to restore it to its original color and rebuild all the suspension and mechanical stuff so it become a reliable car. I will share a few photos he has shared with me. Am I looking for trouble or could this be of interest?
  9. Thanks for the info folks. I'll be calling those numbers
  10. Maybe if an M1 can be found for good value?
  11. Definitely a driver, not looking to pay a premium for a garage queen
  12. Thank you. It feels good to be back. I was away from my cars for a few years getting my residency training but finally finished that, bought a house with a big enough garage to house all the cars under the same roof and now working on finding the time to work on them, get them road worthy and start having fun. I have an M2 conversion that I have been sitting on for all these years and hoping to get that project started soon. I'll be more active here in the new few months asking questions like where is this supposed to go, why doesn't this work and how screwed am I etc 😀 stay tuned
  13. Haha 100 is the default the forum puts up, didn't mean to reflect my offer. And thanks for the heads up, I will check out BAT for hits
  14. I've been thinking about a Turbo 02 for a long long time. Maybe I'm ready now to hear what's available if any. I'm located in LA

  16. i think This all started because your sarcasm was taken seriously by the OP. This happens all the time to me because I’m a very sarcastic guy. I specially struggle when it comes to online dating and I crack one (more like four) too many sarcastic jokes too early that invariable gets misinterpreted and I’m deemed as the biggest asshole that walked these plains. Or maybe I am that biggest asshole. I should do some self reflection here
