  1. The last part I already know too well from model planes. Thanks, Jeff
  2. Thanks guys. I'll get one of the above and finish this project. Car was in NV desert most of it's life so yes, plastic is a bit brittle.
  3. Anyone out there that has plastic welded their heater box want to do another? I am debating whether to buy a welder or just get someone out there to do it. Any takers? The three plastic parts are already cleaned and waiting to be fixed. Jeff
  4. Anyone have a spare? Need one to finish my 5 speed conversion. Thanks, Jeff
  5. Figured it out. The blue ones work. To install them, remove the center rubber. Tap the blue plastic in place and then hammer the insert back into it. Fits perfectly now. The metal ones are too short by a lot and smaller diameter. If you try and press them in as you get them, the blue plastic will expand near the end and you can't get them in all the way. I also filed down the metal insert just a little to be able to have a lip to drive them out if they ever need to be done again.
  6. I'm getting the new bushings today. There are only about $36. I'll beat the old ones out this morning and update on the fitting in a few hours. Good idea. The old ones lasted 47 years and probably would have gone longer but my OCD or CDO didn't allow me to leave the old ones in there when everything else was replaced.
  7. Update for this post. Part 32212475055 can be bought from the dealer or most aftermarket places like Pelican, ECS, Bimmer World, FCP, ect.... I have a 1970 1600-2 and the blue (013) parts are too long. The blue plastic is fully seated but they stand too tall on both ends. I can't get the washers on. The mount where they go in measures 100mm. I have two engine carriers or front subframes to measure from. Currently I have them on order and haven't tried them yet.
  8. Good morning. This is Jeff in Newport News. I'm working on installing idler arm bushings into my 1970 1600-2. Dealership sold me the blue plastic ones. Pressed in to the engine carrier, they are 100mm in width. The arm doesn't fit through enough to get all the washers on. I have another carrier with the older, original bushing in them and it stands at 96mm. I saw your posts. Any help? Please call me. Trying to get ready for vintage and not looking good.

    Thanks,

  10. Thanks Andrew Adams. Part Number 321111117426 is a boot for E21 steering. As for the dust shield, I beat the E10 shields flat on the outer lip and will probably go without if that doesn't work when I get to the reassembly. I talked with a Bilstein tech last week and he agreed you will need to keep dirt off the struts for longevity. He didn't have an answer either but tried his best to make other stuff work. Andrew seems to have the best solution so far. Many thks. Jeff
  11. Working on the details of two problems. 1) Converting to Willwood big brake kit in front. What dust cover/backing plate do I use? Original doesn't work. Too small. 2) I made coilovers out of my old struts. The new spring is 2.5 x 7 inches. The bellows that come with the strut insert is too big in diameter to fit in the spring. You have to use something to keep dust out. My life might be complete if I can get solutions to these answers!!! Thanks guys and gals. Jeff

  17. I normally charge $125. You should also ask what Palo Alto Speedometer or North Hollywood if you are in CA. Another option, I will be at SoCal Vintage with my tools. Bring whatever you want fixed to that event. The cost will be discounted but can't tell you what until I get there. We will have a booth next to Jeff Ireland right in the middle. Jeff
