  1. Better Answer: US 1969 2002 begins in September 1968 at VIN 1662859 These are first series cars Essentially 1968 cars No sidelights longneck diffs etc. January 1, 1969 Series Two cars begin at VIN 1664761 September 1969 , the last US 1969 2002 ends at VIN 1668755 A more through discussion is found under Atricles/History &Referance/ "The 02 Production Run" by Mike Self
  2. January 1, 1969 started 2nd series I believe. Your VIN looks like a later 1969 production date
  3. Second Series 1969 Looks pretty complete and unmolested
  4. Okay a price is reveled at $28,500 Thank you Sorry , never saw that stated. I retract all my comments about hiding the asking price My comments are only based on the fact that FAQ was originated for the benefit of 2002 enthusiasts helping each other repair and restore their cars , and not a marketing platform No need to delete this thread Just go forward Wishing you the best on the sale
  5. Oh please the endless hype on this has to end Just state your asking price rather than try to reel in some unsuspecting buyer Yes there has been some nice work done - at retail perhaps So yeah you have some money in it but the question is what will the market bear ? Time to stop playing around and wasting bandwidth here How about going to BAT and see what happens community
  6. There was a project car at Drifters Garage in Escondido CA a few years ago that had a 72 body cut and spread onto a e30 pan/chassis I believe it was a 325i 4door It was set up with a roll cage and had coilovers for suspension. The owner wanted to put an S14 in it but that created budget problems. Don't know if that project ever finished. You might inquire with Drifters at 760-781-1778
  7. You haven't mentioned it but I hope you will be checking the ring gap just to confirm that the machine shop did the boring correctly Now is the time to make any corrections if necessary
  8. left and right and center grill ?? Not sure what you are asking for here looks like the left is okay right is damaged and center is missing Please clarify
  9. Go to the 99 Cent store and pick up a transmission fluid funnel Cut the spout off long enough to get the gas in the filler neck. Shove the gas nozzle into the funnel enough to depress the ring on the nozzle and pump your gas When you think it is about full, slow down the filling and listen carefully for the bubbling sounds of a near full tank
  10. How about doing zip and send it to me ? rstclark@yahoo.com
  11. My pursuit of a knock sensor is only because I will be using a turbo This will create the need for an ignition curve that retards progressively with boost There is no tried and true curve for this , only a baseline so while playing around to find a tune for good torque , a knock sensor seems like a good precaution and a good long term protection system Sound like a preferred mounting location would be higher up on the block to be able to distinguish a knock from a lifter ?
  12. Yes. The Haltech 1000 does have the programming for a knock sensor but it comes at an additional cost of nearly $500 over the 550 Ive been told the 550 can be tuned to ignore conflicting engine noises and make the knock sensor work correctly Not sure how true that is , so I’ll try to confirm
  13. Did I say dump ? No DYNO would be better. Have love spell check !!
  14. Thank you Dude. This is great info the advise by Jimk looks really good This car is going to have to go on the dump anyway, so tune the knock sensor while the hood is up
  15. I should mention that I will be using a Halltech 550 Elite ECU that can handle the electronics. So my inquiry is focused on the hardware
  16. Has anyone installed a Knock Sensor on an M10 ? If so, what part did you use and how did you install it ? A tuner has suggested putting a knock sensor intended for a Chevy small block LS motor on the M10 to add a better level of engine protection . I would like to add this to my current build so I'm curious if anyone has experience to share. THXs in advance
  17. Agree you have to do totally diligent job of chasing rust I think these were intended as disposable cars and as Willy Nelson said : "Rust Never Sleeps"
  18. Once again Steve has the answer Very Good. Just for fun here is my best comparable photo of a friends Alfa left in a field for years
  19. That's the best rats best I've ever seen.Perhaps it was created by Squirrels or Chipmunks judging by the size of the twigs Notice the unusual placement of the VIN tag Guessing it was relocated when it was repainted red
  20. Nice work Did you consider boxing the A arms . IE has those too
  21. In the video the shifter seemed a little sloppy Did the service work resolve this ?
  22. Regarding two holes at the base there can be a small second hole for a spike in the real base to keep it from pivoting
