I have an M10 I could rebuild to your specs from dead stock to say a 150 HP motor
I'm in San Diego
Also have a completely new from the factory M10 that's never been run if you're worried about the quality of a rebuild
It's really not rocket science PM me if your interested
Looks like Austria
Nice car
Great Sound
Yes have to say it raises your heart rate a little
But what you really want to imagine is What's it look like thru the windshield and what does it feel like in the seat ??
Don't let life's good Experiences pass you by
Thanks for sharing
I have a good pair of 76 seats Original Navy vinyl painted black They are usable but you may want to reupholster them
They are complete with all plastics $300 You ship I would suggest Greyhound
If you are interested PM me and I will send photos
Yes they are rare
BMW was in the marine engine business in the 1980s and based motors on the m10 called a b130 and others based on 6 cylinder engines both gas and diesel
They had their own out drives too
They we’re competing with Volvo Penta and eventually sold out
The horizontal distributor is desirable for sports car use such as the Elva to keep the engine height below the deck lid
The remnants of BMW Marine are keep by a company in Vancouver BC The name escapes me at the moment but you can Google it Oh. It’s V12 Engineering
Thanks Toby Good info
I don't think I will use it with a 235 dog leg CL since I think it has the older Porsche synchros Yes ???
What is the preferred long term lubricant for a 235-5 ?
I'm going to run a Haltech Elite 1500 for L Jetrtronic injection with 42 LB injectors and Turbo It May be Overkill but if provides knock sensor ( insurance)
If you are just running injection a Megasquirt will do the job
Again Hang with the Austrian Vespa Guy
While I’m not clear on the product you are asking about. GM Synchromesh FM
I have used ACDelco Synchromesh Transmission Fluid with great success
It works like a transmission rebuild Some people blend it with standard 90w gear oil but I use it full strength
Maybe someone can comment about this for use for Porsche syncros and BW syncros
Stay connected with the AustrianVespaGuy He's got the whole subject under control. Don't downgrade your car to a carburetor and a distributor Follow the directions for the throttle linkage and you will be very happy with the results
It's well worth the effort to refresh you systems
Well actually the 245 OD box was brought up Actually I’m glad to see the details presented here. It serves to document the two trans
when I swapped out a 235 CR for a 245OD I noticed the slight difference in the drive shafts due to the extra thickness of the guibo for the 4 bolt flange of the 235 compared to the thinner guibo on the 3 bolt flange of the 245 OD. The difference is so minor I suspect one driveshaft could work in either case
As I say nice to have more detail here on this rare transmission
BTW there is an S14 02 currently on BAT
The owner says it has a CR box that is a 245 from a European e21 and has better syncros Is there a 245 version of the CR ??
Seriously Check the Greyhound size and weight requirements and use their online system to work up a quote
Ive used them for transmissions and even seats It can’t be beat
And As jp5 Touring says you get a chance to go to the bus station When’s the last time you did that Andy ?
Just another observation Try the ground wire first. There are posts in the search section to help
If the temp is still high and jumps around especially after you tap on the the cluster a bit with your hand then you should suspect the gauge is faulty
I used to tap on mine a few times and it would go down a 1/4 of an inch but them for no reason it would jump back up
Good luck with this. An accurate temp gauge is a wonderful thing to have
Most likely the gauge is bad. I had a similar situation that was very disconcerting I learned to ignore it but later swapped out the gauge cluster and everything was normal. Try adding an additional ground from the cluster to the body that might help
There is actually a slight difference in the actual length of a 235 vs a 245 but it must be small enough that the same drive shaft can work Having just done a swap from a 8 bolt 235 to a 6 bolt 245 there is a slight difference in the driveshaft length,
Are you using the highest octane gas available ? Try an octane booster and see what happens It's timing or way too much compression
If you cant tune it out you'll have to resort to putting it in second gear with the parking brake on and releasing the clutch at the same time you switch off the ignition
The 123 setup should work for now but It looks a little too aggressive for long term Really would go over 36 total
The 123 most likely is not the problem but the timing light will tell
Search is your friend here. There is good info on what typically wears and needs work
I wouldn't rush into rebuilding it until you have tried it in the car
