Hey Y'all, 

Another year and yet another chance to brave the weather, hang out with the rest of the hoard, swap some parts, and ogle a bunch of 2002s. Stuart will bring the donuts and coffee, so wrap up your latest project, pack your parts to sell, and head down to West Seattle to our regular spot at the Don Armeni boat ramp parking lot.

That being said, Patrick refers clients to Burien Upholstery for a lot of his projects. Ask for Darien. I've used them myself for my custom interior and they do great work. They're very familiar with stock 02 interiors and aftermarket upgrades like the Recaros for our cars.

Since you're in Idaho, suggest joining the PNW Group here. We've got an annual parts swap and car show that we run in Seattle the first weekend in February to celebrate 02/02/2002. Might be worth a trip out to the Emerald City to meet the rest of the guys and gals and pick up some parts. 

Re: alternator. Consider upgrading to a higher amp one now if you plan on building up a nice stereo system, running H4 headlights, and/or adding driving/fog lights in the future. 

Re: grounds. Root out any and all brown wires and clean em all at the contact points. You'll be amazed on how much that will clear up erratic electrical behavior and gremlins. 

Re: hazards. See previous point. Also, turn signals run through the hazard switch. Fixing one often solves issues with the other. Might also be a good time to upgrade the flasher relay to a modern style one. Plenty of articles and posts here about working your way through this stuff. 

Keep it up, you're doing amazing so far.

How much are you willing to spend?

You could reach out to a fabricator like Son of Cobra to make a custom one that they could turn around and sell to the rest of the community. I believe they've made an 02 carbon fiber dash before that could be used as a starting point. 

Try this one. I remember someone posted a 02 that took one of these and modified it to fit. I've considered doing the same.

Hey PNW 02ers, we've got another event to check out:

BMW CCA Puget Sound Chapter has partnered up with local Tehaleh community businesses "Post & Pour" and Legendary Doughnuts for the 2024 BMW cars and coffee social event. Take in great views of majestic Mt. Rainier while connecting with your fellow BMW members and enjoy coffee, doughnuts, and some fantastic BMWs.

No admission is required for the event, which is open to both members and non-members, however we encourage you to arrive on time as parking spaces may fill up. We’ll start parking cars at 9:00 am and will have coffee and snacks available for purchase at Post and Pour (Café & Bistro) along with Legendary Doughnuts food truck items for purchase.
