  5. Not mine, no affiliation. I've got 2 and I would just like to see anyone else with an interest get the info. Another FAQer tipped me to this one in my area. Went and took a look. Owner purchased as a buy both or go away deal from a divorcee. The other car was not around but owner said it's a '75. Have more photos if anyone wants them
  6. Job out of driveshaft was great, r n r of exhaust was ok except rear hanger was left off, seAls not leaking, r n r of shift bushings ok. That said I still have doubts now about all the other work I've paid them for.
  7. Funny thing...when I went in to pay I railed on the service manager for the unprofessional treatment as well as the amount being out of line with both expectation and other estimates. I was given a slight discount. Yesterday I received a call from the same service manager noting after discussing with the 2 owners (it's a small shop) they were offering a $150 refund. Told him to keep it. I think it had something to do with "never bringing another of my vehicles to them".
  8. It will match the JACKALS' paint scheme. PM coming
  9. The original Golf is underneath the peeling yellow in the photos
  10. Kool, Now, can you guys help me figure out how to hide this extra car in my garage next to my wife's 740?? **Thanks guys, and Rob - great book...
  11. Quick turn of events after I Sent her this: Remind him all mechanicals required to safely drive the car (wheels and braking system including all lines, master cylinder etc, lights, tires, wheel bearings, steering, suspension bushings, cooling system) will need to be refurbished because it sat for 10 years. Additionally the engine will first need to be drained, refilled and whatever issues are found repaired prior to startup. Not to mention evaluating and repairing or replacing gearbox items and differential. That's part of why I considered it a project car." Latest response: "Ok we accept your offer of 2K "
  12. WTF???!!! "Hi my brother had 5k in mind sorry :("
  13. Made the offer $2k, waiting on response...
  14. Couldn't open trunk but someone had cut speaker holes in the deck and... ?did '73's have single barrel Solex?
  15. Update: Car is complete minus the keys. So how much?? Interior appears to have been redone. Carpet ok, seats are foam filled. Rear seat stitched, fronts seats velour inserts. Console recovered with matching vinyl and lined with carpet. Headliner looks to have been replaced. Mileage more like 123k or 223k. No oil leaks other than possibly valve cover. Radiator intact (I filled it). Spark plugs oily but may be due to Marvel Mystery oil put in 2 weeks ago. Peeked under valve cover cap and saw nothing unusual. Shiny parts peeking back at me, light brown oil inside. So $500 too low but is $2k too much as a starting point? It doesn't run so it's most def a project for the future.
  16. Going to look at a '73 Golf 2002 VIN 2590178 this weekend. It was previously discussed on this board due to the outrageous price being asked by the owner via Craigslist. Owner simply didn't know the car or value and looked online at all of your nice daily drivers, upgraded vehicles and show quality cars then wagged it. I own the below '71 Golf 2002. A buddy of mine took a look since the car is in his neighborhood and took the below photos. He stated the car looked complete from what he could tell with no indication of damage or modification except the 32/36 and the steering wheel. Seats and carpet look suspect in the photos (cloth seats, decent but old carpet). Will be looking closely this Saturday. This will be a buy and store for a future stock rebuild car. No frills, not a show car, just a project car for down the road. I know what the project costs will be but.. My best offer isn't gonna be much. No keys, sat outside since 2004, registration lapsed so cost to register will be $600+ when its drivable. I'm not inclined to pay more than $500 for the chance to have a younger sister for mine. Thoughts?
  17. Have u attempted to replace the dip switch?
  18. Try Maximillian Imports (BMW Mobile Tradition)
  19. I'm not even concerned about the law. The Twenty years I've been using them now makes me want to question every job they ever did for me.
  20. Again, no estimate received. Ever. Work is complete, I've had the car 2 weeks and they finally got around to the bill. They certainly won't be forced to take any more of my work like this cuz I'm either going elsewhere with all my cars or doing it myself.
