This 1973 CEYLON BMW 2002 CALIFORNIA CAR; VIN # 2591549; (color verified by email copy, via BMW ARCHIVAL SERVICE in Germany) was a restoration project that got halted due to health reasons, and then came to a halt. It was stored in an area with a dry climate, in a enclosed carport near Nevada City. The 2nd to the last picture, is what it looked like, before the drive-line and interior were removed for paint, and mechanical work, about 8yrs ago. Just prior to the halt on this resto, and not knowing when the project would continue, the body was sanded, and sprayed and sealed with a white primer. The complete body is perhaps one of the cleanest, straightest, almost rust-free 2002 bodies, that i have seen in a very long time, originally intact altogether at one time. The last picture is what CEYLON looks like, ON A DIFFERENT 2002, in wonderful condition, - this is a reference point for those who have not seen Ceylon. The body is complete and intact, with exception of the glass, interior, and drive-line. --We have 90% of the parts, that came with the BMW (parts break, some were missing) i.e. seats, door cards, all grilles, all chrome, all bumpers, all glass, etc. No carpet, was toast, so we pulled it out. Most of the Chrome is in very use-able condition, seats need considerable help, front door cards are in very good shape. doors shut fine, as does the trunk. Have both keys to the doors, ignition, and trunk. There is a small area of rust, limited to one area on this car. You can see that every body line is quite straight from head light to tail light, including the roof, and the door gaps are spot on, surprisingly in-line for its age, and the doors close gently, surprisingly with little effort. (There is a white piece of insulation foam behind the passenger rear tire, just to hold the car from rolling back, -did not have anything else handy at the moment to stop the car from rolling when taking pics.) Comes with a nicer replacement dash set in better shape, then what is in the car, the headliner is there, but would need replacement. Engine is the original matching # to the chassis, and is torn down to the block, and-i have a complete core engine also, and it needs to be rebuilt, the transmission had a 2nd gear grind, but did shift ok. Rear diff is still mounted in the BMW. It is a roller on tires with the original steel wheels, so it is easily towed. call for more pics, as i will have more uploaded, as time permits. i have 1Brand New- still in BMW packaging- 'late' Kidney Grille, to fit all 1974-76 BMW 2002's, @ $295, and also have a few sets left of front left, right, and center kidney grilles, emblems, badges, belt moldings (most are Patina, and a few pieces are polished) - prices vary based on the condition of parts. We are selling a very clean, 1973 BMW 2002, Fjord Blue, on Navy interior, factory sunroof, 5sp conversion, with close to 5k on a matching # engine. Refurbished in 1998 with new paint (front reflectors were omitted for a cleaner Euro look), OEM carpeting, and original seats. No rust, non-smoker, no pets, owned by an elder Enthusiast, always serviced and maintained by BMW Independent Technicians in the Bay area. This is a Clean, virtually rust free 2002, with 'good bones', and a nice example of a well sorted out BMW. Year:: 1972 Make:: BMW Model:: 2002 Price:: 25000 Location: : Hillsborough, California This surprisingly (THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD) original 1972 2002, Verona Red, 4sp, is looking for a new owner. It has always lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been well-maintained and garaged throughout its life.. Speedometer reads (still a driver!) at the moment, at ~just over 127K miles. A 2nd owner original 'Blue Plate' car, with Documentation the last 10yrs in San Francisco, and prior to that it was residing just North of San Francisco. Except for the Weber carb conversion, it's stock, stock,stock. Original dash, (couple of cracks), original carpets(!) and headliner, correct Blaupunkt "Frankfurt" radio, correct chrome-hinged seats. Sunroof operates smoothly. Exterior trim includes the original "shallow bucket" grills and factory hubcaps. The car still sports mostly original - but faded_ paint. There are areas that have been touched up - including the right rear quarter-(from typical gasoline spillage on these Bmw's) panel, lower front apron and along the left rear rocker panel- from typical road debris. There is some minor rust in the spare tire well, but after close inspection of typical 2002 rust areas, no other rust is apparent. The car starts, runs and drives just as it did "back in the day." It has been on display at the Bay Area 02 Show and Shine in Brisbane in and was featured at last years' BMW's of San Francisco's Summer Picnic. i just replaced my Weber 32-36 dgav, this weekend, with a new one. this one, runs perfect, off idle, and had been rebuilt a few years back, but the adjustments for idle, are not as new, however, it is still very use-able. this is not a China carburetor. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SOLD. Original 1973 2002tii, w/5speed conversion up-grade, - this tii is NOT FOR THE PURIST or Meticulously minded-- This is an un-molested,-- non sunroof,-- 'Driver' , --matching # tii,-- original paint combo- Agave green on Saddle, original and stock, --down to the wheels, and covers, --with exception to the 5 speed transmission. It has been touched up in areas that have been fixed due to parking lot bobo's, scratches, and dings etc. It has a 5 speed upgrade, and a older CD AM-FM stereo, for the only modification-upgrades. This tii, is in good, solid, running condition, with no structural rust. The engine runs quite strong, no serious leaks or smoking. Otherwise the tii is original. It has spent the latter years here in the San Francisco Bay area. This tii, *originally came ordered with the BEHR A/C option on the car, but has been removed, and stored in a box. Fairly straight body, but has the typical parking lot bobo's and share of dings-scratches, too. However, in 'Patina' style, original, un-molested, stock condition, and NOT restored. The car is still in very decent shape, with no structural rust, does have some minor oxidation, surface rust, paint chips, parking lot bobo's, surface rust, etc. The dash has 2 minor cracks, and i have seen much worse, yet, still a very decent looking, in very presentable shape. The gauges all work,- including the odometer, and the clock how-ever, is still in hibernation and sleeping. This tii has new wool carpeting and a new headliner, that have been installed. The doors, windows, and trunk, ALL function well, and lock up fine, the windows and all glass are intact. This is a really great, fun 'Driver'- with little to do, --- if you want a daily driver, (this is NOT a show-car, by any means, or garage queen) with minimal work to be done. The under-carriage is clean, dry, and has typical -oxidation- especially on the floor pan and other areas subject to moisture and dirt,- like any 40yr old car, but NO STRUCTURAL RUST. Solid rockers, shock towers, floor pan, and apron, ther is some minor bubbling of paint, in and around the car, but nothing serious. This tii, is completely drive-worthy, and does not need anything of major service, - perhaps, some new wiper blades. Ideally, this tii is NOT- for the purist (some call it anal retentive, not bad, just in-different, haha) or meticulously minded as it is NOT A SHOW-CAR,-- but it is -complete, --all together, and a great-- DRIVER- that is legal, and registered with title. If you are looking for an early tii, in good, clean, shape, that is a good, solid driver, come see and drive this tii, with a 5 speed. ***-the title has been modified to a 'Salvage' by the DMW in the state of California, which may differ in other states. This- is because a small truck, did not put their parking brake on or have it in gear, when it parked in front of the tii, and it rolled back into the front of the tii, many years ago, which damaged the front grilles, bumper, and apron, however, the body shop did a stellar job in replacing the damaged parts the correct way, --as you can see in the pictures--. <<<The bumper, and grilles, lines up perfectly and all bolt together nicely, which tells the story of how minor the car was hit>>>. Back then, the value of this car was minimal, thus the 'Salvage title' read on, In the insurance industry, typically when the repair (or THEFT VALUE) total comes close to 50% of the actual value of the car, the DMV has the power to 'modify' the title to a 'Salvage' status, because the cost of repairs,- is too close to the actual value of the car. So in this case, many years ago, the value of this BMW 2002tii, was quite abit less then today. This car is still very solid, and it shows, see it, drive it, and you will know.
