  1. Yeah I've seen that car around and also found the thread on it. Too iffy for the distance/price; and that said I'm going to pursue other interests for a while I think and take a step back. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and input though, maybe I'll be back!
  2. Hah! I was likely still lying to myself about being able to find a decent long hood for under $20k. I've wondered how Porsche-y one can get a Type 1 to be..I loved the driving dynamic of the rear engine, very challenging to get right but when you do...I don't care about the badge/status, I just loved driving the damn thing!
  3. Indeed. Heck, you can hardly even get a solid 912 project car for less than mid teens now. Sometimes I regret selling my 993, and then other times I remember how often things like, "Will driving my car 300 miles affect the value?" come up. Shooting the breeze with those guys is more like having a conference with a bunch of investors. I always loved talking to the R Gruppe guys though, cool bunch who use their cars, and probably part of my motivation to get out of the later model stuff (although, horribly timed).
  4. I will say this...I started looking at 2002's after the early 911 market went berzerk. 6 months ago they were affordable enough to hold out for exactly what I want, figuring a budget of $10k should get me a pretty nice, well cared for, needs nothing jalopy as long as I'm not after a collector grade car. Yesterday I went and test drove a Type 1 to see how I like it, if that says anything.
  5. Interesting. Do you know what he's trying to get for that? I don't have enough of a grip on the market to guess what range something like that would fall in to (PM if you prefer). The lopey cam might be a bit much for me, I'll have to dig around youtube..
  6. I admit I think I was grabbing for my phone before I got to those last few items (I've had more near-misses these past couple months than ever before combined..I think I might be getting trigger happy). Anyway, not the strongest candidate; not that it matters as they never got back to me. The quest continues...
  7. Good to know, I was actually just thinking about making a, "might need a good shop in Denver" post. If the seller gets back to me and it goes well I'll be sending you a message immediately afterwards. Fingers crossed and thanks again!
  8. Gah, that's perfect! Seems a bit cheap though unless its condition has degraded a lot since the pictures were taken. Guess I will see if the seller gets back to me or if they only want to deal with local buyers (sounds like he's got a list of people who want it already which isn't a good sign for me..). And I wonder why that doesn't show up in any search results or auction/classifieds listings? I can only see that ad from the link. Strange, makes me wonder what else I am not seeing. Thanks for the tip/link though, I definitely appreciate it!!
  9. Odd, I don't see anything in Denver...are you sure it was eBay?
  10. I saw that, it will take a bit more than I handle at the moment. I don't have anywhere to tackle anything other than minor projects and have to rent shop time or "outsource" otherwise...gets expensive fast! Thanks for the tip though!
  11. After an exhaustive search over the past year, I've come to realize my lifelong hobby has started to wear on me. I think I'm taking up bicycles.
