    Exceptional car. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a buyer at that price. The only potential issue is that the 1976 year will exclude the California market, but even without California I'm sure you'll find a buy at this price. Good luck. Wish I had $40k in my couch cushions.

    It's a huge pain. You can't get Recaros straight from Recaro. I gave up and ended up buying seats from BF Torino.

    Thanks, everyone, for your replies. As an update, I've agreed to buy this one: http://bringatrailer.com/2012/11/13/bat-exclusive-blue-plate-1971-bmw-2002/ The pictures really don't do it justice. It's a superb car. And the price (the listed price is not the price I'm paying) leaves me some room to improve it as I see fit. It needs nothing, but as an initial matter I'm going to install some proper seatbelts. Also, since it'll be my daily driver, for fuel economy I'll probably also exchange out the dual Webers. I pick it up on Friday--can't wait to drive it. Thanks again. I'm very impressed with the 2002 community. Great bunch of people.

    I came close to buying this 1976 in Phoenix, until I found out about the California emissions requirements for 1976 cars (I'm in Los Angeles). It's in excellent shape. I had it inspected by a 2002 mechanic in Phoenix, and had a family member test drive it.     Hi all, I'm in the Los Angeles area looking for a fully restored 2002 for use as a daily driver. I've seen the website for 2002ad, and I'll contact them, but if anyone else has any leads I'd really appreciate it. My range is around 20k depending on the car, of course. Thanks.
