  1. Does anyone here have experience using a European style front license plate in Washington DC? DC has a two-plate requirement, but I've seen a fair number of street-parked cars with a Euro front plate not get tickets. Is there a specific work-around anyone knows of? If the Euro plate indicates D.C. and has the same plate as the official D.C. rear plate, maybe? the only solution I've found so far was to mount the D.C. plate on tow hitch mount, and have the Euro plate mounted on the car, but that seems too defeat the purpose. Any suggestions or past experiences would be really appreciated!

  3. Yes, it's definitely a Schrick, with "Dr. Schrick" and "SB4" in the blank. For whatever reason, the only PDF I found with specs was all in German, so thanks very much for the info! I'll make sure to check my distributor, since this engine was not originally in the car I'm restoring. I'm not sure if it makes any difference at all, but it appears there is also a "P" hand engraved under the "02922" on the end of the cam. Thanks for your help!
  4. In the process of pulling apart the head and block to have them re-decked, I pulled the Schrick camshaft out but cannot identify which cam it is. The numbers on the end are hand engraved 02922. I know 920 means a 292, but i'm not sure what to make of the 922 here. the base measurement is 26.7, the top of the lobe is 34.0/34.1 (my tool is being finicky). Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  5. Very interested in seats if still available. Will send PM with email address.
  6. Hi, I'm looking for a good machine shop in CT to redeck my M10. I live close to New Haven, but I am happy to travel for a good shop. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Jay
  7. PM sent. Do you know if this will bolt right on as a replacement for my current 32/36?
  8. I saw this car during Vintage Fest at Lime Rock this past summer. It's certainly very nice, and had a for sale sign on it; it was hard not to laugh when he told me his asking price.
  9. How soon is soon? I'll be visiting my parents outside New Haven in a few weeks. If you need to get them picked up sooner, I can see if my father can grab them and I can bring them back.
  10. I am in desperate need of two blue door cards that will fit a '74. I took the week off to help my dad finish up his 2-year restoration project for this weekend's Vintage Fest at Lyme Rock and he thought his door cards were fine, but the previous owner cut speaker holes in them and he's freaking out. We are outside of New Haven, but I'm willing to drive pretty much anywhere in New England to get two un-molested blue door cards for this car. Please let me know if anyone knows where/from whom I may find these cards. Thanks, Jay Location: Woodbridge, CT, USA

  12. I need the A/C switch for a BEHR unit. This is the switch that controls the A/C on/off and controls the fan speed. When looking at the A/C unit, it is the switch on the right (passenger) side. My switch currently only works at max fan speed, and rapidly overheats and any other speed. Thanks, Jay Location: Washington, DC, USA
  13. My '76 is not getting a clean burn and the battery isn't fully recharging - it has a new battery, coil, plugs, wires, alternator, and I've rechecked everything I can think of. I'm stumped. I called Grant in Alexandria, but they said they can't look at it until the end of August! Is there anyone else in the area worth taking it to? Thanks, Jay
  14. I'm desperately searching for a functional Behr A/C unit blower switch. I need the whole switch assembly, not just the knob. I live in DC, but I'm from New England and I'm up here with my 02 for a wedding this weekend. If anyone has one of these that works, please let me know! I'll be all over from CT to NH, so I can likely come grab it from you. Thanks, Jay
  15. I'm desperately searching for a blower switch for the Behr AC unit in my '76. It's got a brand new compressor and the AC was beautiful, but the blower switch broke, and now I am despondent. Does anyone know of some place that might have one of these? Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jay
  16. I need the AC blower control knob assembly for a Behr AC unit for my '76. The only number on the entire assembly is 200980. The Behr parts list says the part number is 74 906 00 909. I have attached a picture of the disassembled part. I'm really hoping someone has one or knows where I can get one - it's small, so I can pay for shipping from pretty much anywhere. I just put a brand new compressor in, and the AC is GREAT, but now I'm in DC and can't turn it on!! Thanks, Jay
  17. I'm looking to re-jet at least one Weber, probably two, and put dual 40's on another of my '02's. I know nothing about carbs besides the idle speed and mixture screws. What's the best book I can grab to help explain just how big a mistake I'm making by taking this all on by myself?
  18. I tried to search for this, and maybe it's just my bad search terms, but I found nothing. What's the best way to clean and treat original paint? Should I use a polishing compound first, then synthetic sealant and then carnauba, like I do with clear-coat paint jobs? Is there a particular product that people use? I just got a '76 with the original jadegrun paint in decent shape, but I want to make sure I take care of it properly.
  19. If no one else has taken it, I'll grab the trunk lock and key. Email me at jhalleck AT gmail DOT com.
  20. MJ - I've tried emailing you over the last few days and haven't heard back. I hope everything is OK! Please shoot me an email or give me a call when you get a chance so we can finalize the purchase. Jay
  21. Yeah, I felt silly putting "article" in my post title, but "blog post" sounded silly. Still, the car looks awesome, and even if they are super rich, it's still an awesome thing to do for your husband.
  22. Thought this was awesome. I just told my wife I was driving a 2002ti when I met her, and just because she never saw it doesn't mean it didn't exist, but she should never ask anyone about it because it was my secret car. http://jalopnik.com/5955252/worlds-best-wife-surprises-husband-with-the-bmw-he-had-when-they-met
  23. I may be interested, depending on the current level of rust. When you post new pics, can you put some up of the known rust areas?
