  1. hello all, I am looking for suggestions. I am an amateur mechanic in need of some advice. I have a 1973 2002tii that will not start. I drove it last a couple of weeks ago after it sat out in a rain storm. The car started fine and I put it in the garage. When I went out to start it last weekend, it would not turn over. I could not hear the fuel pump go on. In fact, there does not appear to be any power to the car at all. All connections and fuses appear ok. I took the battery in to have it tested and it appears to be fine. (The guy at the store looked disappointed- he wanted to sell a battery). The ground is secure. There is no power to the car period. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Marc
  2. Thanks for your replies. Does the gas pedal just snap in? My nylon grommet is in place. I have drained and flushed the radiator and during normal temps in the 70's it is fine. I live in Dallas and it is now 95+ daily. I think it is more of an issue of capacity. Marc
  3. hello all, My gas pedal has become loose on the rod that connects to throttle mechanism and I cannot tell if there is a part missing or does it assemble in a particular way. Also, the Texas heat is not kind to my stock cooling system. It runs warm and forget about idling. The car is a 1973 tii. Thanks, Marc
  4. My alternator makes a lot of noise. It is otherwise functioning normally. Is it easy to replace the internal bearing or should I replace the alternator? Thanks, Marc
  5. Anyone have a rec regarding an upholstery shop in Dallas? I have a simple repair. Thanks, Marc
  6. Anyone have any suggestions for the airflow to the front defroster? Heat is fine both in temp and flow. The defroster lever moves but does not stay to the left. some flow to left windshield but none to right. Is there an easy adjustment or do i need to go diving into the dash? The car is a 1973 2002 tii. Thanks, Marc

  10. Any one have any ideas? I was going to back out my '73 tii when the clutch pedal went to the floor! There was no slippage before and no obvious leaks. My thoughts are something simple like a spring but this is an area that I have little knowledge. Thanks in advance. Marc
  11. All, Anyone have a suggestion for used BMW parts. My regulator is fine. The lower tray that the window sits in is rusted through. It snaps to the regulator. Anyone know a source? Thanks, Marc
  12. Is there a way to do this without removing the air filter housing and brake master cylinder? Approach from under the car? Thanks, Marc
  13. The only bolts that need adjustment are the ones on the coupler? Nothing on the inside of the car? Sorry for so many questions-I am new to this. Marc
  14. Do you have to loosen the housing before preloading the column? It appears that the internal column is the movable part. Any thoughts? Marc
  15. Anyone have any thoughts on play in the steering column? The car corners well, no play when turning. A little up and down movement. The column housing is solid. Car is a 1973 tii. Thanks, Marc
  16. Mike, That would be great. Thanks, Marc. Moquinnmd@yahoo.com
  17. I also notice a little 'bounce' with the temp/fuel gauge with the blinker. Car is manual. Only occurs at freeway speeds. The tach is ok. The speedometer will be working normally and then I hit 50-60mph and it goes to 70 on up. Weird. Also, I have a little up and down play with my steering wheel. No issues with cornering. Is there a bracket that needs tightening? Thanks, Marc
  18. All, I just received my 1973 2002tii from the shipping company. I bought without inspection but all seems good. The only issue is that 50 mph or so the speedo jumps to 70. Fuel and temp gauges act a little odd at highway speeds as well. Around town, completely normal. I am thinking voltage regulator? Any thoughts. Thanks, Marc
  19. New to the fold after a 20 year absence. My 73 Verona tii should be arriving shortly. I am in UP. Marc
