  1. Glad she's back in CA where she can be driven year-round instead of sitting in my garage in Chicago looking sad all winter. Get her tuned for that CA air and have tons of fun in the canyons (like I used to when I bought her in LA). So glad you bought her, the car couldn't have gone to a better guy. Enjoy!
  2. Seller here. Glad you're back on the road, Dennis. Sorry to hear about the troubles and wishing you a smooth trip the rest of the way. Sounds like you found the right mechanic. I miss her!

  4. Closing tomorrow: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-bmw-2002tii-10/ (yes, it's mine)
  5. Just over 5 years later, she's now available on Bring a Trailer. Now with an Limited slip diff. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-bmw-2002tii-10/
  6. Oh, and not a beauty shot, but this one from a kid's soccer practice parking lot always makes me smile.

  8. THIS! I had completely missed tucking the larger back end in under the chrome. I thought the button was the only thing that held the back end, but now that the square end is tucked in, the insert no longer falls out. Sometimes it's the small things. Thanks, this made my day/week.
  9. Wow, thanks for all the ideas. Yes, it's entirely possible my handles are flipped. And ray, I love those early door handles without the insert. (I think i sold you a set of wheels a few years ago in LA.) But as for my 02, I'll give dq48's directions a try. And if that doesn't work, I'll be finding some thick double sided tape.
  10. So after losing my driver's side interior door handle plastic insert, I ordered a new one (actually, two after discovering the hard way that the driver's side is the RIGHT side, which makes no sense to me but whatever). It seems like it should snap right into place, but it doesn't. This should hook around the front end of the metal handle, then snap into the hole on the rear, correct? Or am I missing something? Because when I do this, it just falls back out. I'm starting to think a little glue or putty might be the answer. Any suggestions?

  12. Are you guys thinking the restoration wasn't fully baked? Not digging the color palate? Did the car leave a bad taste in your mouth?
  13. The man has good taste. Pun intended. http://motorcarstudio.com/1971-BMW-2002/Used-ClassicCar/Atlanta-GA/7224038/Details.aspx
  14. I've got an open diff Ben pulled out of my 72 when he put in an LSD. I'm in wilmette, PM if interested.
  15. I've had the 2-or-3-blinks in the dash for a long time, and with no auto-off I did an embarrassing amount of driving with the signal on. Just performed this fix and the dash indicator works! Fantastic. The switch I used is from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00206JCTM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks for the tip!

  19. Thanks for the interest. Im not looking to sell the car right now. The car is currently in transit between LA and Chicago. I'm going to get settled in Chicago and see how my garage situation works out. If I decide to sell it, I'll list it here on the FAQ again.
  20. No sale. The car is on its way to Chicago.
  21. The car didn't sell and I ran out of time. She's boarding the transporter for Chicago tomorrow. Can't say I'm crushed as I get to hold on to her a little longer.
