  1. Hey all, I saw mention of the headlight protection film... I still have some for sale for both the small (5.75") and large (7") lights. Actually neither is the diameter of the lens or the film, it's a 'nominal' diameter only. Very Good Idea for nice headlights like the Koito. XPel no longer makes or sells the thick film I used to have, But I do have the Lamin-X film in 12 and 20 mils. I even have a pair in Yellow, if you are interested in that kind of thing... I also have a few pairs of the old classic headlights - Marchal Amplilux (newer version with the flat face), even a single older bulging face Amplilux! I ALSO have a couple of pairs of the classic Cibie Z-Beams, the Gen-you-wine article with proper lens markings - one pair used in good shape, and one brand-new-never-been-used pair. Anyone interested, just give me a shout... headlights or tail lights, I can help. Andy , AKA MoBrighta
  2. OH, I got carries away and forgot - the Koito H4 lights are VERY good, sturdy, well made, and I have sold them with good reviews. Daniel Stern swears by them, and I believe most everything he says... of course I have clear headlight film to protect them from stone damage, a must have.
  3. Yep, I have new and very nice used Marchal Amplilux lights, even two pairs of the original Cibie Z-Beams, in the larger 7 inch size, as well as some 5 inch H4 and the odd H1 high beam - mostly vintage 'period correct' lights, ready to go into your vintage automobile... Plug-in simple! Daniel and I go way back, he's been very helpful to me in the past and I still get high output bulbs from him. BUT my headlights come from overseas, mostly, and are generally new - found in a back room somewhere... sometimes in the original box! I do have instructions from Marchal for them of course, and had mine setup to run all four bulbs at once- talk about output! I can help with direct experience putting these old lights into a 2002, I ran a set of Amplilux for years and years... Buy them now, before I go out in a box and they get thrown at Goodwill or on some scrap yard.
  4. Hey Phil, that is good news! Glad to see progress on this front. I do miss my 72, wish it hadn't gotten so rusty. Andy FYI - in my post above, PCB is for Printed Circuit Board... just in case there's anyone who isn't familiar with the acronym.
  5. Hey Phil- I just found this post from last year - just read the whole thing now. I just spoke with the guy doing the Holy Grail Labs replacement fuse box for the E28... he's got some stuff in the works that will definitely interest the '02 crowd. The basis is a new PCB that replaces the original terminals and fuse spring clips internal to the box with a new part. It installs through the same slots as the original, and is a very nice upgrade, with LED power indicators that can be switched on or off (link below). Other models are in the pipeline... it's a large rabbit hole, as we know. Meanwhile, anyone with a cranky fuse box that may be willing to test a prototype, get in touch and let's see how we can help keep the breed alive and healthy! 6. UPDATE - the second set arrived today, these are now ready for a new home in your headlight buckets. Again - 1 pair new, $499, with super high output bulbs and protection film. One pair used, with nearly perfect lenses, very light pitting on one, almost none on the other. $299 the pair, based on their condition. Again, with high output H4 bulbs and protection film. As I discovered, these lights are AUTHENTIC Z Beams with '19' molded into the lens, versus other designs (not as good) with 20 or 25 in the lens.
  7. yes, tho I only have one pair at the moment. I am counting on winning the auction this week. This is an unmatched set - one new, one used. I am selling matched sets -- one set is new, one is used. Are you interested in them? Let me know.
  8. I am selling two pairs of the GENUINE Cibie Z Beam headlights. These are for 2002 - 7 inch high/low beams with the famous beam patterns. perfectly desirable vintage headlights... One pair is used, no cracks but a SMALL amount of pitting in one lens. They are quite usable. $299 the pair. Second pair is brand new, no use ever. As you would expect, the lenses are perfect, backs are perfect, MAY have slight interior fogging / dust. All four are the genuine article, '19' in the lens. $499 the pair. As usual, I also have lens protection film and high output lamps, included with the purchase. Lens Markings, top to bottom: Cibié HCR (for Halogene Codé / Route, or Halogen low/high beam) H4 IODE E2 (circled) 19 47 A E2 462 Will post more pictures as soon as I can
  9. BUMP- I sold a pair of the Marchal Amplilux lights, a BNIB set (brand-new-in-box). I still have the new Cibie 'Euros,' the 1 new, 1 used Cibie 'Z-Beams,' and several Amplilux pairs new and used... Holler at me if you are interested in seeing where you are going more easily. Andy
  10. Spotted a pair of NEW Amplilux 7 inch headlights with French yellow lenses. Looks like the same pair and seller I saw years ago. These also appear to have a city light, which some find very sexy, and authentic / standard issue in most EU countries. From what I understand, they drive on the left in Indonesia, but when I asked the seller, he would not commit as to their handedness. "Look at the pictures" is all they would say. They also state 'No Returns'. so you are on your own. Price indicated is from the auction site, and includes shipping. If these are of the Japan (UK) design, they are not legal where we drive on the 'correct side' of the road. Close examination of the lens design should tell if they are suitable in the US and other 'drive on the right' countries. Compare to the US lights (I can provide pics of these). I have had no luck offering French Yellow headlights, but I know from observation some are interested in "This sort of thing." IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, search on: SEV MARCHAL AMPLILUX H1 H3 61286903 YELLOW FLAT LENS FERRARI PORSCHE HEADLAMP There are two pairs for sale, both from Indonesia. I will be happy to help with the wiring, bulbs, and headlight protection film if you decide to go with these lights. Happy Hunting! Andy
  11. Rob- I had a look in the stash; I have one left side in pretty good shape...that can be reconfigured to right. Due to perfect symmetry, I think I can swap the elements internally, and turn it into a right side lens. Let me have a go at it, and see what I can do. What condition are you looking for - perfect, concourse, nice, or serviceable? Andy
  12. Thanks, Jim. Those pics are showing the wires (plug-in simple, removable, and no alteration of the stock harness). The next pic shows the view of the upgraded TAIL (or parking) light - both the red sectors light up dimly (brighter than the stock tails of course) without the brake applied. WITH the brake applied, the normal brake light sector (towards the license plate) gets MUCH brighter. Any of the lights with the high output bulbs will also be brighter.
  13. Hey Rob, I will have a look in my stash; I have many lenses among my 2002 round-tail stuff. FYI- there are some guys out there selling new body seals too - about $50 a piece, if you are replacing lights they are needed for a good water-tight seal. I also still build upgrade rear light setups for these cars, doubles the size and triples the output of running lights... if you are interested. Andy
  14. Yes, indeed! I built a prototype that provides 12V output with a 6V input using some relays and a 6V Battery (Duracell Sealed Lead Acid) to light 12V High Output bulbs for the Brakes. It was tested, and worked fine. The 6V battery was charged by the generator when it was not boosting voltage to the brake lights. Sadly, somehow, that prototype got lost in the sauce... I suppose I could recreate it from my notes and some pictures I have... if there is any interest. My guess is that it could serve more than one circuit with additional relays. Sponsorship is welcome... Nick - are you interested? Coincidentally, my first vehicle was fitted with Marchal Amplilux headlights, and since it was a 1962 model I had to install 6V H1 and H3 bulbs. Back in the early 1970s, this was easier than it is today. Sorry, it was not a BMW... but it had SUPERIOR FORWARD ILLUMINATION. Anyone interested in testing a new prototype for their 6V ride? Jake, Nicholas? Just get in touch, we'll see if there's any more reason to pursue this.
  15. Here is the sheet (front and back) in French, German, and English. I had wired mine as in 'case 1' so the lows came on with the 2nd click of the headlight switch and stayed on, the stalk turned the highs on and off. Relays on both beams, of course. pg1.pdf pg2.pdf
  16. Comparable sale just came up on eeebay. New Marchal Amplilux headlights, one bulb, no plug, no protection film, for $1395.00 -- $195 more, and no setup kit. Anyone care to comment?
  17. Brand new, in original package. Part number 612 82903. Date of manufacture (from label), 01/74 and 13/74; 1st and 13th weeks in 1974. These headlights are the legendary dual bulb, dual reflector design from the 1970s. New condition, in original box. The deal includes set-up with 4 new high output bulbs, 2 H4 male connectors, and headlight protection film. Won't last long, so if you are interested get in touch immediately. I ran these in my 1972 2002 for over 30 years, and NEVER had any trouble seeing where I was going...I had them wired as directed by the factory (original instructions included) to light all 4 bulbs on high... unbelievable! 2 pairs available. Feel free to make an offer, if you really want them I can take less for the bare lights (no setup). In ANY CASE, they will include headlight protection film. These are rare as it gets, if you break them you'll be very sad, and the rest of us will be very upset. Andy
  18. Original lights in this post are gone. I have pairs of Marchal Amplilux, and Koito, and others... but this is a new listing for the Marchal H4 - 612-41203. Pictures are included above. FYI- offer of $200 was for the original set, NOT the current set.
  19. Hmmm, that looks from the wire colors to be a high beam relay connector. The terminal arrangement looks like it will fit a four or five pin relay. The headlight relays are usually on the left side inside the engine bay. My car (1972) had high beam, low beam, and horn relays all next to each other. Where does the connector lay when relaxed? Looks like it's under the hood... Tho I cant be certain since I do not have full information. I see white/blue, white, brown, and green/brown -- is this accurate? White/blue is a high beam wire color, brown is always ground, white lead may be from the headlight hi/lo switch, and not sure about the last wire. Has this been resolved - were the wired traced to their origin and destination?
  20. OK, I found another pair of Marchal vintage headlights ... they are twins! NEW, never used or installed H4 round lights, fittings to fit standard US buckets. Model number- 612 41203 Made- week 37 of 1983, same date for both ('twins' may be a bit fanciful) Details- face is not flat, they have a slight bulge like most headlights. Bulb mount- Very solid looking, two sturdy seals to exclude moisture. CITY LIGHT OPTION- can be fitted with 'Position Light' common in Europe (not included, I may have sockets to use). These are sourced from an overseas partner, and may sell at any time. If you need / want these headlights, act SOON. I'd hate to see another pair of perfectly good, brand new lights get away... I am looking for the sockets to install a pair of 4W bulbs for the city light.
  21. Valeo (Cibié 082440) lights arrived today, and they are new in box. Made in Belgium. Includes a standard Flösser H4 bulb, 60/55W, made in Germany. I am willing to let these go at a lower price than originally stated... anybody interested? The setup for these lights includes optional headlight protection film - 12 mil, $20 the pair; 20 mil, $25 the pair.
  22. Thanks, Steve, and meanwhile I found a used Z-Beam and ordered it, should be here in a week or so. No, not a pair, sadly. But at least I will have one to use as a benchmark. It does look like the picture you posted, with the '19' and three concentric sections in the bottom, as you say.
  23. Well, blow me down. I acquired them as genuine NOS Z Beams, which is how they were advertised: "CIBIE 7 Inch Z Beam Headlamp Lens & Reflector ...". If I am mistaken, my bad. No deception intended. Please contact me offline with any leads or info you have that will help me verify, and I'll correct the sale post as needed. I'll be glad with your help and feedback to examine them carefully to get it right. I want to learn more about these lights. The Z-Beam has a well deserved reputation, and I don't need to be accused of false advertising... after all, I don't need to tarnish my own reputation! This is possibly a BIG OOPS! Truth In Advertising, it's a good thing. Thank you JohnP_02
  24. If they are in good condition, I am asking $399 plus shipping and any of the 'Setup' items you need. If they are in 'perfect' condition, unused, NOS, then $499 plus (as above). For the PAIR. As usual, if you want to combine them for a front and rear light package, I'll offer a Good-Guy discount; I'd rather you be happy and safe, and maybe send your friends this way for any lighting help they need. I'm not looking for a mega-yacht or anything, just trying to help you keep your car out of the graveyard.
