  1. Happy to be contacted about the 2002 turbo and m very interested in your upcoming feature on 02s. There r 2 x 2002 turbos in South Australia that I know of including mine. Other one is being restored whilst mine will need restoration in future. Regards. Alvin
  2. Were u in a 2002 for the Classic Adel? I was in the Classic Tour in 2005 and 2006 then in the Thoroughbred Tour in 2008 - in a bright orange (Inka) 2002tii! Photo of the car as follows. Are you planning to do the Classic Targa Adel this year? It is in Sept - run by Octagon - the people who run Targa Tasmania.
  3. Took it for an extended drive through the Adelaide Hills today - still can't wipe the grin off my face!! Fantastic drive but really need to keep the revs up on this to feel the effect of the Turbo. As with all reports thus far, nothing prior to 4000rpm, then bang!! Takes a lot of getting used to! Handling is no different from my tii except that there is a heck of a lot more grunt after 4500rpm!! Really need to change the tyres currently on them though - I suspect the tyres have been on the car for far too long and are very very hard - there was so much tyre squealing going round corners it was embarrassing!
  4. This vehicle was indeed ex-Japan - then has been in NSW for a few years before I purchased it recently and had it trucked down to Adelaide, SA. As for the bolt-on flares - AFAIK, these were stock original on the Turbo. Over the years, I have been accumulating a lot of 2002 parts including LSDs, gearboxes, body kits etc. I have some FRP repro flares which give a similar look to what is on my Turbo. Not sure about which is "correct" but most of the ones I have seen or read about have the bolt on look. http://www.bmw2002.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=71:for-sale-bmw-2002-turbo-excellent-example&catid=2:cars-for-sale&Itemid=13

  6. Hi all - I am the owner of this Turbo in Adelaide. Purchased from a guy in NSW who has another one which he has just restored (incidentally it is for sale now!) LHD - in all states as long as the vehicle is more than 30 years old, it can be registered for road use. My Turbo still has some work to be done. Interior is almost perfect except has non-standard electric windows! No structural rust but surface rust in the usual 2002 spots. This is actually one of 3 2002s I own along with some other old BMs. Have been following this forum for a while but never joined. Regards. Alvin
