    I'm aware of how the lights ground, the issue is the lights operate dimly while not grounded.

    Ok, I've pulled all the bulbs on the blinker circuit (I have the two filament bulbs in front). I wired the front blinker wire directly to the bulb eliminating a possible old housing /contacts issue. I grounded the build as well and the light works as it should, but when I remove the ground the bulb continues to flash but very dimly. Could this be a faulty turn signal controller?

    Hi, So I just picked up a long stored '71 this last weekend. While waiting on parts (distributor, carb rebuild kit) I'm attempting to get all the lights working. I began by replacing all the bulbs. I got all to work once I did the three prong flasher mod. Here's the crook. I noticed when I pull the front blinker /running lights lens housing out from the chassis the lights still operate without being grounded. I know this indicates an issue but what I'm not sure. Thank you in advance for any advise on this matter.

    Hi all, I have a '74 that's acting up. symptoms are.... when I switch the turn signal on the stereo turns off as well as the turn signal goes out. Then randomly later the stereo turns back on until I use the turn signal again then poof all goes out once more. Fyi- the emergency flashers work even when the turn signals do not. My inclination is to replace the turn signal switch. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Andrew, looks like the trans in the link you provided but the measurements are different then the image above. They are as follows. 10.25, 4.75, 2 3/8 & 4 1/8.

    The yard also said this may be out of a european grey market car.... I'll look for the date markings you described.

    Thanks for your replies. I did find these stamped numbers ( 015766AK ) on the top of the bell housing. Do you think these would be an indication of the date?

    Found this Transmission today in a boneyard. They told me it is out of an '83 e21. There are two sets of casting numbers - 242.0.291.01 5.4 225 (tail section) & 242.0.325.00 1.1 225 (inside bell housing). Any help would be appreciated.
