  1. too close for comfort! I park mine way out in west bum f*ck when I park in public lots......
  2. +1 on the Chrome Hella 160s
  3. I was in the same boat as you when I was looking. Talked to Werkshop and a few of the other high end restoration shops and found out that a 9 point tii would run $50-$70k plus the cost of the donor car - YIKES! When you look at the availability of really clean already restored cars (few and far between) it was rare to find a car that was more than $20-$22k...the economics just don't work when you figure you've lost $40k+ when you go to sell your "recently restored" tii. I love our little cars but they don't have the same intrinsic value and ability to increase in $ as an older 911, Benz, Detroit Muscle Car etc. Find a car that was recently restored and owned by an enthusiast, make a few tweaks to make it your own and have fun driving it. I added AC using all new components and a perfect Fridgking console and it cost around $2500.
  4. Still looking - got boned by a FAQ member last week on one that fit my needs....he sold to someone else after agreeing to sell to me......AAAAARRRRRGGGGG!!!
  5. One of the best picture threads ever....incredible variety. Can't get over the number of convertibles in the Motherland.
  6. Jaymic has them on their site Part #02cr.7300 Seat back tilt knob chrome cover $10.46 each
  7. Looking for a passenger side visor with mirror '73. Hoping for a perfect one? Thanks.
  8. Hope this helps. I'm buying the replacement rubber boot from Blunt.
  9. Sounds to me that it would be hard to find a quality paint job for $3500 yet alone the cost of the rest of the mods...Negotiate!
  10. Pierre's stainless mounts work great and are very solid...got em' on my 73 and very happy with quality.
  11. Anyone know the difference between 2002s.net and Classic auto LEDs in terms of quality? Both are priced the same.
  12. After a little more digging I found that the D+ blue wire was not connected to the back of the alternator. Plugged it on and red charging light turned off! Here's what I've got........ IDLE = +12.71 2500rpm = +12.85 output of alternator = +13.62
  13. Just got my 73 tii back from Regan Seegraves after a lengthy restoration - car came out beautiful. Got the car off the transporter (JP Logistics) and it started right up, no warning lights. Since the battery was out of the car for a few months during the restoration it was nearly dead & died 2 days later. Installed a new Optima Red top and car fired up instantly but now I have the red charging light on while the engine is running....solid red, no brighter while reving engine. Looked at the alternator as a first cause and found the following taped up loose clip and broken (brown ground?)/unattached blue D+? connections. Years ago PO installed a new 45 amp alternator with internal voltage regulator. I also have an uninstalled rebuilt tii alternator that has been bench tested and is good. Don't know if I should re-install the tii alternator and it's harness? After waiting so many months to get the car back I'm jonesing & need a fix of speed. Any thoughts?
  14. Just read one of the best restoration articles ever...not BMW related but worth a read. 700+ photos and a crazy ending. www.cardomain.com/ride/340096/5
  15. You'll find there are many competent 2002 shops in the area, everyone is going to have their own opinion. Though personally I like Mat and Tom over at Ronin Autowerks ( http://www.roninautowerks.com/ ). X1....good guys!
  16. Way back in the late 70's and early 80's, me and my 5 mates all owned 2002s and every day we flashed every BMW on the road - including bikes. We snubbed the 320i gang for a while until hot chicks started buying them and then we got smart fast. Great times back then - lots of young and dumb kids driving some sweet cars.
  17. Once again, Hamilton had a hard time keeping his nose clean. Vettel's pace was unreal - hard not to like the kid. Hoping the Scuderia can produce a car for 2012 that gives Alonso a chance to once again be competitive!
