  1. Last year of the roundie. Solid driver, minimal rust. Work done in the last 2 years: points/plugs valve adjustment new Weber 32/36 cooling system flushed new thermostat replaced exhaust manifold new guibo new alternator bled and adjusted brakes new muffler new blinker lever new master cylinder I've owned the car for a little more than 2 years, don't drive it much anymore. Car comes with an extra set of aftermarket wheels and a driver's side Recaro out of a 320i that needs to be recovered. Also, the usual bins of parts & misc pieces. Custom wheels, good tires, & Momo steering wheel, The PO added keyless entry, alarm, and aftermarket stereo. Battery has been relocated to trunk. ISSUES: Odometer no longer working, stopped at 56K. Paint looks good from 10 ft, starting to fade on the hood and roof. Peeling above passenger side headlight. A few minor rust spots, most appear to be surface only. Rust spot on trunk. Slight bubbling on the bottom of the air dam and the bottom of one of the doors. Horn is not working. Center console not original. Air filter is too tall, needs the shorter version. Extensive photos at the following link. Again, the car is a solid driver not a concours winner. A solid platform that could be brought back to original condition with minimal effort or taken in the other direction and customized to the new owner's taste. Cash only, no trades. I'm located in downtown Atlanta and am willing to take the car to a mechanic of your choice within a reasonable distance. Feel free to email me with any questions. markdsingletary at gmail dot com
  2. Driving to work this afternoon, I noticed an strange noise on the freeway. Not too alarming just a little different. Gear shifter felt a little off, looser than normal, so I exited the freeway. Once I was on the exit, I noticed a few pieces of something fly out from under my car. Not too big but big enough for the guy behind me to notice and back off. I coasted to a stop and the gear shift was flopping around, seemingly not connected to anything anymore. Never heard any huge noise, something just seemed to give. Had the car towed to my mechanic, Bob at RWL German Imports, (nice guy, wish I didn't see him so often) Will advise once he gives the the diagnosis. Any guesses in the meantime?
  3. Awesome, thanks guys. Will try the cluster ground first. No fun having a temp gauge you don't trust in Atlanta in July.
  4. Ok, my temp gauge has been flipping out lately. The video link below is after about 5 minutes at idle. Temp at the top of the radiator was reading about 150º as this was happening. Temp sending unit was replaced about 6 months ago as was the thermostat. Is this a burping issue or a grounding issue? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  5. Congrats! I'm in Atlanta as well. Below is a pic of my '73.
  6. Cool, thanks for the link, I'll give it a shot.
  7. My horn has never worked. I can remove the steering wheel and get the horn to sound by touching a screwdriver between the stalk(?) and the brass ring surrounding it on the column. When I put the steering wheel back on, nothing. Based on the photos below, am I missing any parts? Thanks in advance for your help.
  8. In for a tire kicking or a drive. Got my car last year and haven't had any '02 owners give me their 2¢. Let me know....
  9. Ok. Just changed my profile so my email button is active now. Shoot me an email.

  11. Sweet, thanks David. Can you describe the fix? Did you have the car on a lift? Not much room down there on ramps.
  12. Anybody have this happen before? Any advice? Thanks in advance.
  13. I think Preyupy nailed it. Here's the link (3rd photo down). http://rustybuttrusty.com/2009/10/13/1978-renault-r17-gordini/ I never would have thought Renault. What an ugly car. Thanks, Preyupy.
  14. Alien? Ha. No obvious markings. Might find something once I have the seat out. I'll update if/when I figure it out.
  15. Anybody recognize these? Taking my driver's seat out to be refurbished and just curious as to what these came out of.
  16. Thanks everyone for the input. The fuel pump is in the trunk, I hear it whirl when in turn the ignition on. My fuel filter, located close to the carb, has fuel in it. Does that eliminate the fuel pump? The carb is new, the fuel tank is about 1/4 full. Will check for sediment in the bowl. The ignition wires are new as well. How do I test my coil? Have an extra one that came with the car but unsure about it's condition. Left the car at work, will try it again later today or tomorrow. Thanks again and I'll update once I track down the problem.
  17. I started my 73, gave it steady throttle, (around 2000 rpm), after around 30 seconds, it died. Would not restart. Tried pumping the gas, tried giving it no gas. Nothing worked. Let it sit for a few hours, then it started up and ran fine. 2 hours later, the same thing happened. Started fine, then died after 30 seconds or so. Would not restart. Can see that my fuel filter, located in the engine bay, has gas in it. Also, just got the car out of the shop 2 days ago where it had a major tune up. Been driving it regularly and today was the first time this has happened. The car has a Weber 32/36 if it makes a difference. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and let me know if I can provide any additional info.
  18. I looked at the car a few months ago. No disrespect to the owner, a nice guy, but the rust was a little scary. The interior was kind of rough as well. Here's a post from the owner that gives you a little better understanding of the rust situation. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,311279/start,0/postdays,0/postorder,asc/highlight,752dbl02/
