  1. Well, thanks for the ideas - I just really was looking for a shop someone could verify as dependable... I'm not with the car and won't be until I find somewhere to trailer it to.
  2. The entire ignition system is brand new in the last 2 months... I appreciate the advice but what I really need is some ideas about good repair people in this part of the world... Thanks for your reply, act least...
  3. In the process of moving from NC to GA, I unwisely decided to drive my car ('73 2002) , instead of trailering it. At any rate, it started dying randomly; when it played these trick the tach would drop complete and it would lose all engine power. As it this weren't enough fun it started to make bad noises that I've never heard from it before - grinding under load and a serious pop-grind coming up through the steering wheel. That said, the upshot got all this is hat it's now in a storage place in Camden, SC and I need got either get it addressed there, or down in the Statesboro-Savannah area of Georgia. Long story short, any suggestions for a good garage from anyone familiar with the area? I appreciate any and all help! Kevin Costello
  4. Well, it doesn't "sales" but rather "pales"...
  5. I laughed; I cried! Bravo! This thread has everything! Best I ever found sales before this treasure trove!
  6. Tom: Well, of course you can post it. I"m flattered that it's worthwhile info for you. I still say I'm a serious rookie; I could have sworn I replied once already... Oh, well... Kevin
  7. Tom: I found my old car's birth documents, and BMW refers to it as a "Cabrio"... No mention of "Targa".I'm going to try and attach the scan of it, but I'm a serious rookie in these matters... Kevin Scan.pdf
  8. Tom: I noticed your question about "Kresfeld"... Maybe it was "Krefeld", at any rate it's somewhere in Germany and the story was this: Rich textile type traveling on business there spots it, wants to buy it but the problem is it's the salesman's personal car. Money is god, so as soon as he wowed this salesman it was put on a company plane and sent home to somewhere near Charlotte, NC. When I bought it it showed 69,000 km on the clock. I swear this is the last long-winded post... Kevin
  9. Tom: I can't seem to find the Birth Certificate, but I did find the VIN jotted down on something... 2795740. I used to hear a lot of speculation about how if it was a model 71 that was made in late 72 then why did it have square tail lights and a model 73 front clip. There, the strangeness stopped, though as the rest of the car seemed correct for a model 71. At one point the guy that bought it in Chicago got in touch and insisted that the front and rear clips had been altered. About a month later he called back to say he and his local wizards in Chicago now thought it had not been altered. The only horrible thing that was done to the car (when it was still owned by the used car salesman in Kresfeld (SP?)) was someone put a tinted moonroof in the Targa lid... Think about that one... It takes all kinds. Can't say I'm in love with the Inka either... But that's just me... I enjoy the stuff you post, by the way; keep up the Lord's work! Kevin

  11. I used to own this car... Sold it to someone in Florida in 2004? Next I know, it's in Chicago is Inka and has doubled in price. The original color was Agave; when I got it in 1996? it was Resedagrun... I think I still have the born on document from the old country. Kevin
  12. If anyone else local interested in buying this as a group and digging into it for parts, I'd be good with kicking in for it. I'm in Summerfield, NC just north of Greensboro and live on what Real Estate types have taken to calling a "mini-farm", so it would have a home where it could get harvested for parts. Anyone game? 13. I'll take the antenna... I can't remember if I PayPal, but I'll sort that out in the AM. Thanks, Kevin
  14. I just got to know how you manage to work for Maximillian and get to live in Paradise at the same time... That is surely one of the better skills I've come across in my almost 60 years... Can I come? Please? Kevin
  15. So, what will it be for transmissions? A 6 speed or an automatic? Those numbers are wack....
  16. Adam: You might not see this at all, but if you were able to buy this EFI set up would you be interested in selling the stock air-cleaner assembly. I live in Greensboro (well, Summerfield, actually) also, so an exchange would be simple. mkcos@earthlink.net. Thanks, Kevin Costello
  17. I can't quite see if this piece has a small hole just above the fastening screws... It's there to insert a plastic cover over the screws. I need one without that hole. Also, how much? Thanks, Kevin
  18. I seem to have forgotten about this thread, but if you're still interested in the console sides, let me know (mkcos@earthlink.net); on a similar note, I also have several Becker Europa radios as well as a Mexico. All of them work; however the cassette function on the Mexico doesn't work. Sorry for the delay... Kevin
  19. And just what do the other three look like right side up? Kevin
  20. Thank you, Mame.... I'll do just that. Kevin
  21. I'm about to try a carpet install for the first time, so I'll hold off discussing that aspect until afterwards; what I can relate is the quality of the materials Esty uses. I had occasion to compare it to a OEM set from Germany that, admittedly is 4-5 years old, this (Esty's) is much more substantial. Further, the carpet that came with my car (I've had it 2-3 years) is about half the weight of the new set. I suppose it doesn't help that it was obviously installed my a 12 year old, but the fit is horrible. If anyone cares for a lightly used black/black used carpet, they are welcome to discuss it with me. Buy it from Esty and skip the heartache and pain. My two cents... Kevin[/i]
  22. I'd love to have it... I do have a set of virgin console side if you're at all interested... Anyway, I'm in 27358, send e a number and I'll make it happen. Thanks, Kevin
  23. How about the air cleaner assembly shipped to 27358. Photos of the underside and inside if you have the time. Thanks, Kevin
  24. "to boldly go where no man has ever gone before...."
