  1. False air is unmetered air if you have L-Jetronic fuel injection. It raises the idle if you have leaks.
  2. I was thinking about buying this cordless smoke machine made by Autoline. I am trying to find false air coming in on 84 m10b18 L-Jetronic that is causing a high idle. Anyone else using this machine? 3. Where did you get the e30 318i aluminum radiator? I noticed there are several on the market, not sure about the quality of them!
  4. I actually found a washer similar to the one in your photo! It's just not as thick but it seems to have stop the leaking for now! Thanks for the idea, I will post photos tomorrow!
  5. I just looked at the washer again and I think maybe it's to big. It overhangs the intake manifold and divider edge! Not sure what the diameter size should be for this washer? I included some photos
  6. What torque settings should I use? I used 22ft for the intake manifold so I was going to use that for the nut with large washer! I can't find anywhere in my books what the torque should be for the other nut, I have a diagnostic connector on that one!
  7. I might do that with the washer. I just checked my car and the divider had a big gap between it and the intake manifold about the stud. I guess I bolted it down without positioning it against the intake manifold. The gasket was not damaged when I unbolted the divider, will try to reposition it tomorrow and torque it down!
  8. Thanks for all the info. The water divider is in very good condition with no corrosion or pitting. I am thinking it does have something to do with that nut and larger washer that fastens down both the water divider and intake manifold. I think I put to much hi-tack sealer on the water divider side of the gasket! I am going to play around with it and try to reposition the nut and washer on the water divider. If that doesn't work I will take water divider off and add some gasket maker! Otherwise I will be doing this over again with the intake manifold gaskets!!
  9. I replaced the intake manifold and water divider gaskets on my m10b18 motor from 84 318i. I have a bad coolant leak coming from the sensor water divider. I used high tack gasket sealer on both sides of the water divider gasket. I didn't use the sealer on the intake manifold gaskets. Should the gasket for water divider gasket be used without any kind of sealer? Also should the two nuts for the divider be at the same torque as intake manifold? I think I used the right washers for the divider!
  10. This is a DME pulled from a running 1998 BMW Z3 1.9 M44 motor. Can be used if you are swapping M44 1.9 into your 2002. Does have to be programmed in to work in another vehicle. $75 shipped within the United States! I also have it listed on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/304168174134
  11. Thanks for the info! The photo above looks like the ones Bavauto use to still years ago.
  12. Does anyone have any feedback on Ireland Engineering red 8mm plug wires? Are they the same as the Kingsborne ones?
  13. Yes my reasoning for using the older bolts is that I do not trust the quality of most newer parts. The last few times I ordered facotry bmw bolts nuts for other projects the quality was terrible!
  14. My bolts are about 10 years old when I changed the head at that time. I was going to try and reuse the bolts again?
  15. If you use the 3 step torque process should use still lightly oil the bolt threads? I have completely cleaned out the bolt holes in the block already!
  16. I noticed that in some books they say you can torque the cylinder head bolts in 3 stages without using an angle gauge or running the car. You would do all 3 stages of tightening with a torque wrench only! Has anyone used this method? I will be using an Elring head gasket for M10b18 motor. I saw this in MacCartney's book and a E21 Haynes manual!
  17. Thanks for all the information! I am looking for a new one, it looks like this part in the link below: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/vacreg/12111288446/
  18. Would anyone know where I could get a new vacuum advance diaphragm for a 80-83 320i/early 84 318i with the electronic distributor? I have look everywhere and they are either sold out or NLA. I was looking for part number 12111288446 or Bosch part number 07168. Or are there any other Bosch part numbers that would possible work?
  19. Does drilling the small help make the car run a little bit cooler and prevent air pockets from forming?
  20. I ended up getting a 75 degree Wahler on ebay in the meantime. You haven't had any overheating problems with the 75 degree one in LA? I will check out that link for BAP Euro. Thanks
  21. Ok thanks for the info I will check those places out. I might just end up getting the factory 75 degree thermostat if they still make them?
  22. What is the best brand and source to get a decent 71 degree thermostat? I know a lot of the aftermarket ones are terrible. I had the Vernet one in my m10b18 motor but it's now sticking and it seems like it poor quality.
  23. Anyone still using the Bavauto 8mm high performance red ignition wires? I still have a set brand new that I have never used. I have always heard bad things about them. They look exactly like the ones from Ireland Engineering, are they the same? Any feedback greatly appreciated!
  24. Where would I get the Bluntech bracket that would fit the m10 block? I was thinking about maybe doing the Sanden conversion at some point.
