  7. I recommend German Motor Werks in Longwood, Florida. Contact Jim or Debra at 407.699.4151 with an outline of your project. Since you are the original owner of your 76, consider rebuilding the original motor so the vehicle numbers will match, Maybe add a hotter cam, intake, exhaust, ignition, etc. Or opt to add 2 more cylinders. The shop services and build all years/models of BMW and Porsche plus handle PPIs. The shop owners both have 2002s in addition to an e46 m3 and a mint 88 M3 plus other vehicles. A tour of the shop also shows numerous BMW and Porsche race cars prepared by Jim for events.
  8. Its a great looking car, but 32 - 35 psi for tire pressure is too high for normal driving. There is a probably a good reason the engineers suggested 26 psi the 1 ton 2 series. Using 40psi in your new 13" will reduce traction and control in all temps. But, if you like the abrupt oversteer after hitting a series of pot holes on a curved two lane jersey country road....or hitting a patch of wet leaves...just keep full replacement value insurance on it and hope the 41 year old seatbelts hold. Oil cap: Such as nice car as yours should have the correct cap. Does your Benz and Porsche have non marque parts installed?
  9. Count me in without a BMW.
  10. E36: After checking every relay and fuse, bypassed the clutch switch, then I used central locking 3 times. It suddenly started with no cranking. Note open exhaust is loud, but magnified at 1230a Monday morning. Earlier results: Tii: FAQ alignment done. Changed worn fronts with a newer pair of 195s on basket weaves. new issues: front bushings at tow hooks were installed backwards by POs mechanic. Probably the same one who used galvanized nails versus correct cotter pins. Time to order IEs has a front end set with installation friendly 2 piece bushings at $79. 2) Tired of the GPS in place of nonfunctioning KM speedometer, so in went a new speedo cable along with a working speedometer. Added the ground wires to gas and temp contacts to stop the jumping gauges. 3) tighten the mid exhaust and added new rear muffler hangers at muffler. Timing: Set it again and need a petronics unit versus the current point point set up in a mechanical distributor. E24 - I will follow John in VA tip for a new dimmer/turn signal. My switch is loose. C320 -The left pan was reinstalled in minutes. Has anyone considered making those protective and aerodynamic underbelly pans for 2002s? I would buy a set if available. 190DT - one vac line a bundle was replaced, The turbo is working but fuel isn't being advanced enough for low end power, Maybe the Alda valve on the injector pump needs adjustment. Any Mercedes turbo diesel experts thoughts are welcome. 300TE - Car is on jack stands and is on Mondays agenda. The e36 drained my time and patience today.
  11. Tii: Check alignment. A lot of inside edge tire wear on front left since Sebring trip. Determine headlight aiming. Both are off to left Check timing and dwell. e24 check dimmer switch, above 50 degree flashes on off by itself over bumps e36 find out why the starter doesn't engage after recent clutch replacement install rest of exhaust after making some noise install power window bushing C320 check for any leaks after fuel filter replacement and reinstall underbody panel. 190DT check vacumn lines again for delayed shifting 300TE Install front struts, brake pads. Finish by 9pm.
  12. Try your local Ace Hardware store or other regional little box stores. Ace carries a big selection of metric fastners ranging up to 12.9 strength. Thanks Bnam for the tread and resulting others .02 cents for their bolt sources. At 645p on Friday I read the inputs and was ready to order the 2 M10 hex socket online. I saw mention of a Fastnerall store, remembered the local ace store. Arrived at store 4 minutes before closing time and tossed the 1 remaining sample bolt to the expert who found 2 replacements in stock. Price for 2 including lock washers, $2.71. By 800p the shifter platform was reattached to the 5spd and but didn't have to look far for other issues underneath the tii. Side note: recently paid $68 to getbmparts.com for 24 exhaust manifolds fastners for my e36. Other sources wanted $4 per item x 24. Use this source if you have the bmw part number.
  13. Rain or shine the Tii is going to Sebring. The track is 98 miles from home and AAA towing covers 100 miles. Plan to drive back vs camping on Saturday to be at Tavares Autocross at 8 am Sunday.
