  1. The tire sits quite close to the strut (perhaps 1.0 - 1.5 mm). They're old Porsche/VW steelies, widened out and mounted with adapters.
  2. Wheels are 15x8 +18 with 205/50/15: Full car at the following link. 205/50 in back, 195/50 in front: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2718/5822014824_49ceacb99c_b.jpg Cheers!
  3. I'm running that size on my unflared car and it works.
  4. Here's my 1976 2002 with tonyhavana's early steelies PS'd on:
  5. I like your n00b status. Keep and revisit in a year!
  6. The fronts are 7.5" +20 and the rears are 8" +18. They're old Porsche 356A steels widened by a local guy. More pics here:
  7. A set of wide 13" steels would be cool: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1121951 A lot of the E30 guys are redrilling 16" E38 Style 5s to 4x100. Not sure if you're comfortable going so large but, with the right drop and tires, it could look pretty hot. The ultimate in subtlety. This year, I elected to go the widened steelie route... With an unsubtle twist:
  8. The fronts are 7.5" ET20 and the rears are 8" ET18.
  9. Hi Jacques -- The wheels were done by a local hobbyist who's become the go-to guy around here for such work. Here's a quick video of him finishing up my wheels' welds: I can put you in touch with him if you'd like, though I'm sure that shipping from Canada would be a bit pricey. Three of the wheels balance well. I've had a persistent problem with one of the rears.
  10. Here are some photos of my current set. Naked: Painted:
  11. My last two sets of wheels have been widened steelies and I have yet to experience a failure. Neither set balanced perfectly, though.
  12. Always wanted to see an 02 with BMW's mid-1950s 2.6L OHV V8 swapped in.
  13. Absolutely fantastic! Production values, music, editing rhythm -- all on-point. Is this our generation's 57 Chevy?
  14. They look great! Can't wait to see them widened.
  15. I find it's easier to let Google do the work. Just pop "site:bmw2002faq.com" in front of your search terms.
  16. Fronts will require a decent sized spacer to clear the tie rods. Rears may fit but they'll be REALLY close to the trailing arms. I've got 8" ET18 rears and they're very close. Heavy fender roll required but flares are unnecessary. Wheels will look great -- please post some pics when you test.
  17. Outstanding show. Great seeing you last weekend, Randy. Thanks for the pics!
  18. Very cool wheels. I'm running 15x8 ET18 in the rear with a 205/50/15. Fenders are rolled and nothing rubs, but it's damn close.
  19. Perfect rack! This car keeps getting better and better. Awesome!
