  12. Is the front BBK still available? Considering picking it up
  13. What do you want for the Big Brake Kit? Is it still available? Shoot me an email at john.d.metz (a t) gmail .
  14. This is my CL ad: http://louisville.craigslist.org/cto/2436898633.html I really need to get rid of this e21 so i can put the $ into my 2002. I bought it as a parts car, but i thought it was too nice to part out. If it doesn't get sold soon, i'll be parting it out. Let me know if y'all have any questions. This is a good driver, but still needs some work.
  15. my rockers were rusted pretty bad. my local shop replaced both rockers as well as doing some other various small patch panels on the car for under 700 bucks. It's not the end of the world, but you do want to make sure that rust isn't too extensive. rust sucks, but in most cases it can be fixed. the only question there is how much you're willing to spend to fix it.
  16. Good to hear. Any other concerns about electrical gremlins that I may be inadvertently introducing? Anything I should do while I'm doing the mod? I really appreciate the advice
  17. That is an awesome explanation. I really appreciate you taking the time for that post. It's good to have a reference like this so I can make sure the wiring AT LEAST meets minimum standards. I've got enough to fix on my car already, I dont need to create problems with a modification.
  18. Dang...all y'all getting in the 20's. I've got a stock roundie and i only get like 16mpg no matter how i drive and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the car. Effffff
  19. I'm getting ready to move the battery rearward and I just wanted to post this thread to think through my process and let anyone point out mistakes/bad ideas or suggest improvements. This is going to follow nbcbirds build thread : but with a bit of difference. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,331885/highlight,e21+battery+relocation+distribution+block/ This is my current state of affairs. I am going to mount one of these (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11827_StreetWires-DB0480.html) near where the battery is currently in the engine bay. all of the wires that you see attached to the positive cable will attach to this distro block. the cable that attaches to the positive battery terminal will end here. I'll run this battery cable along the drivers side, under the rear seats and out to the trunk. So my questions: 1) I'll need to find a good ground - I have some ideas, but what do y'all recommend? Should I tap a hole and fix a ground there? What size bolt? Multiple ground points? 2) What solutions are your favorite for securing the battery? I don't really want to do a rear strut brace with a battery box. I've seen them mounted in marine battery boxes and that sounds like a good time. 3) I want to add a fuse box in the drivers foot well that supplies switched power for things like my electric fuel pump, 12 volt accessory plug (think cigarette lighter power source) head unit, amplifier(maybe), and eventually fog lights. A)Where is the best place/cleanest source to pull switched power from? Is there any reason why I should or should not insert a second distro block (like the one in the engine bay) at the same location in between the battery and engine compartment?
  20. I've read about people putting IR repeaters so they can use a remote to control the stereo that's tucked away in their glove box (examples here: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,339802/highlight,infrared+repeater/, here: http://www.coupeking.com/product_id-386.html ) but i'm having trouble actually finding that repeater. I went to my local radio shack and they didn't have a solution, and i'm having trouble finding something on the internet that doesn't plug into a wall. Any ideas?
  21. Really wishing these were in/near KY. California gets to have all the 2002 fun. No fair.
  22. I'm a firm believer that dreams should come true. Maybe we can figure something out.
  23. I've got a pair of Dell'Orto DHLA 40 Carbs that i pulled off my 1981 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce parts car. They've been sitting for awhile, but after a brief inspection, they look really clean on the insides. I know they're not traditional for 2002's but, could be pretty freakin sweet. Looking for 400 OBO + Shipping (probably 25-30 with insurance) Email me with any questions at CashKY (at) gmail (dot) com . I'm all about full disclosure and i'll tell you whatever I know Pictures in this album http://s590.photobucket.com/albums/ss345/johndmetz/1981%20Alfa%20Romeo%20Spider/ Plus, if you're into alfas, the whole car is for sale. 425OBO. its in lexington ky. If you buy the carbs and the car, I'll give you a sweet deal.
