    E

I have several, but I’ve used them for a variety of purposes, including long vowel sounds, making other vowels sound long, and sometimes short vowel sounds. I’ve also been known to indiscriminately pronounce “the” with either a long or short vowel sound. And I guess we should include neighbor and weigh. If you’re hung up on sourcing a pure Germanic E, I can ask my wife, as she was born and raised in Germany. But I must warn you that she’s from Augsburg, so there may be some residual Swabian sound to her E’s. Definitely preferred with the patina and stance crowds, but not for everyone.
  2. IE is larger diameter than Ansa. It’s not a plug-n-play situation. Tried it. Didn’t work.
  3. Could also be your guibo/flex disc dying. A loose guibo bolt will ring a bit.

  5. I’ll take the korman manifold separately, please.
  6. Here’s a little something that Chuck Pompei put together this week. Saw this on Facebook. Solved his rattle issue with his fancy exhaust.
  7. Oh, it’s one of those pieces from a parts car. Maybe someone on the e21 forums would like it. Thank you for the photo and clarification. And I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. Hopefully you still have a strong friendship.
  8. If that’s a 2002 diff cover in the box, and it’s in good shape, I’d like to make an offer for it.
  9. Yes! I shipped one this morning. $27 via PayPal friends/personal, or $29 via PayPal goods and services.
  10. Which pedal box? Early with mechanical clutch, or late with hydraulic clutch?
  11. I can’t seem to find an image of the connection between the kickdown cable and the throttle linkage. I have found references to a special spring setup on the automatics that is different from the manuals, but no images. I can look for images in the shop manual (the book, not the transmission) on Monday when I get home.
  12. OK. I found the suspect part in the first diagram here. Still haven’t sorted out to what it connects. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/114-Sedan/USA/2002-M10/feb1973/browse/automatic_transmission/
  13. OK. If the other end is connected to the autotragic transmission, it’s not part of the accelerator system. (It actually detracts from the accelerator system due to the thermodynamic process referred to as inefficient shiftiness, but that’s another discussion.) I’m thinking it’s a kick-down cable, but I don’t yet know how it connects to the throttle linkage. I intend to find out in short order.
  14. The throttle arm is in the right hand side of your photo. It connects to the throttle lever on the passenger’s side of the pedal box. I don’t recognize the thing in your hand. It looks like a throttle connector screwed into the end of a cable, but I don’t know why that would be there unless someone had previously installed a cable for the throttle, and subsequently disconnected it. If the other end of that thing is connected to the throttle lever on the pedal box, then you should remove the throttle arm that runs vertically in the photo, and replace it with the cable in your hand. All that said, I’ve never set eyes on an automatic transmission setup for a 2002, so it’s possible this has something to do with an automatic. If your car is an automatic, you’ll soon be instructed to toss the slush box in the neighbor’s pool and replace it with a 5-speed manual transmission. But we’ll get to that later.
  15. LOL! Thank you for bringing back some fond memories of my at-the-time absurdly loud and vicious setup. I’ve matured since then, and have installed sound deadening, carpet, and a variety of other amenities to improve the comfort of both driver and passenger. Now I can hear the passenger screaming even at wide open throttle.
  16. I have one. I’m in Germany until next week. Send me a PM and I’ll take some photos of what I have when I get home. Grice
  17. I have some spare non tii boosters if you decide that’s what you need. Grice
  18. I bought one recently just out of curiosity. I haven’t installed it yet, so I can’t opine as to how well it works, but the finish on it seems quite good. I planned to pull my steering box to replace the seal, and thought I might as well replace the whole thing for the low eBay price. Note that you must pay a $200 refundable core charge, and ship the manufacturer an old steering box.
  19. Marshall runs dual adjustable Konis on his 2002 because racecar.
  20. No worries, Steve. Thank you for your prompt responses. Grice
  21. I’ll take the 245 if Ken hasn’t snagged it already. Grice
  22. What is broken about the selector? If it’s the housing, I’m interested.
