  4. thats next on the list. i bought bosch plug wires so im in the clear for that. im going to wait to adjust the valves after i get her running. the whole"if it aint broke dont fix it" line. ive never done a valve adjustment before and i know its not to hard at all but id also like to have a before and after to compare sounds
  5. ha i was going to say xbox. once you get your motor built theres a bunch of rice burners that always need a beatin. in portland at the raceway between april till september i think they have friday and saturday night drags. i think its like 40$ for entry and then like 20$ each time after that once you're a member and you never know who you'll race but you get time slips and everything and can win money if you're good. theres no limits on your car. just has to be safe. ive seen people race their minivans, kinda funny. i think you can do the whole track but its much more expensive and its only timed, not racing against other people. but its something to look into if you have a track near by where you live. there are two major autocross clubs that set up races all over the country and anyone can join but theres more standards your car has to uphold safety wise. i dont think they're as strict as SCCA but its another fun thing to look into
  6. i think i found the problem... today i was in a cleaning mood waiting for parts to arrive so i thought i've clean up my old plug wires and clean the contact areas. sooo as im wiping away the dirt grime spiderwebs and pine needles, off pops cylinder 2's wire in a nasty corroded mess. i am almost 100% sure they are the original wires from the factory so some new wires are on order. could it be that simple? i hope so. thanks again for everyone's help
  7. i called here about 2 weeks ago and they didnt have any 2002 or older 3 series but ya never know when they get new stock http://www.germanautosalvage.com/
  8. all parts off a 74, its not perfect but all parts are included, bumpers, bumper shocks, hardware, plastics, its been sitting under a tree forever so theres a little moss and pine needles. they can be buffed, and polished to almost new. the trim is pretty much the same shape, a couple small dings but still straight not bent. the mounting hardware would need to be replaced tho since i lost a lot of those stupid little nuts that hold it on and some others broke off. also have the mid-door plastic trim and all 4 corner reflectors. the rears are the kind with the light bulb. shot me an offer, im open to trades as well. im looking for euro front bumpers, fiber glass hood/trunk lid, turbo flares, flush turn signals, maybe some other parts you may want to get rid of. email jfarian at hotmail dot com

  12. ive been youtubing and researching all about valve adjusting for the past 2 hours..i still need a dizzy in order to run the car. thats why i just want a super cheap one that i know works just to get her started and diagnose the problem..i like the idea of checking the leads tho when i was a kid i pulled the lead off a running lawn mover to kill the engine...it was the only way at the time...and shocked the shit out of my hand and have been kinda scared ever since lol, no fear tho right? no fear
  13. i havent read much into it but you have to have something called like a blow through system. im going to switch to fuel injection when i do my turbo set up for easier tunability. thats the goal at least lol
  14. i bought this resto project little over a month ago..did not run at the the time of purchase. i decided to work on the interior first and now that its all gutted i want to at least get the engine started and running before i tear it down to rebuild it just to say i've driven the car on her own power. that being said im not looking for any long term fixes since its going to be rebuilt i just want to know if theres any drive train fixes that need help. the PO stated that the engine was only running on 3 cylinders when he first bought it and its been sitting forever ever since. the distributor was removed so i have no clue on its condition. from my searching ive found the common, points misaligned, fouled spark plugs, bad spark plug wire, and something about valves. can anyone point me in the right direction or suggest other reasons why it wouldnt run on all 4..i have no clue which cylinder was not running and no clue when the last time the valves were adjusted or how old the fuel is. it has a weber 32/36 carb but for the most part it looks stock..some of the emissions system is taken apart(missing vacuum lines judging by the diagram on the fender) i pulled the plugs and they all looked okay but i didnt check gaps or anything, just a visual cleanliness inspection. its a 74 2002. also if anyone has a known working dizzy that will fit my car for cheap shoot me an message. vin is 4229675 if that helps too, thanks guys
  15. i agree with going to a muffler shop..it'd probably take them 10 minutes to size and bend you one and they probably wont charge you more than probably just the price for materials
