  1. Looking at swapping out my electric choke setup for a good 'ol manual choke setup Location- SoCal Thanks!
  2. I noticed this as well... my girlfriend was not nearly as enthusiastic about it! Definitely a good movie, an added plus is the 2002s at the beginning =p
  3. Hello All, I'm putting a Cannon and a Weber 38 on my 1972. I need the coolant fitting from the bottom of a stock single barrel manifold to run the water lines (as detailed in this thread: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,339074/highlight,/sid,8195afcdd2f63b0187e420b0836ced7b/ ) I am located in Southern CA

  5. I've had good luck with the autopal lights as well. I avoid the cheap cheap stuff because they usually end up being pretty poor quality with a beam pattern that is... well basically no beam pattern
  6. emails and phone calls being made, trying to figure out this soon. its tough because I know that a serious estimate needs the car down there, so I'll be working on that thanks for your help! I appreciate all the suggestions, when the project is done I'll definitely have pictures and try to come out to some events!
  7. Here are some pics guys, car was a daily driver from new in 1972 all the way to 1986 when it went into storage. The car was well maintained before it went into storage, but I haven't started it yet, almost there but not yet. Body and paint is fine, no body rust (a little bit by the battery tray) its very dirty hasn't had a good wash yet. Basically I really need a skilled 02 mechanic, to replace everything that has aged since 1986. other than mechanical a few things I need to figure out 1. window crank doesn't work and the window drops (I'm thinking regulator) 2. dash is cracked in multiple places, so I am looking possibly at a Blunt dash or have someone do the job locally (the hard part is removing the dash) 3. Cooling system was really nasty, lots of sludge and crystallized junk, even corroded one of the aluminum coolant passages (found a replacement for that one but I'll be on the look out for any other signs of corrosion) I'll be shooting some emails out to you guys,
  8. interested in the climate control faces! email at my screenname @yahoo.com
  9. Sooooo... I have a 1972 2002 original plan was to be a DIY restorer but after a year it has become clear I don't have the space or the time 1. Its my dad's car- original owner, and I'm restoring it for him so basically I can't sit on my behind and wait for time. I need to get it done soon so he can enjoy it. Body is fine, restoration really means every rubber every degradable thing that could have gone wrong after sitting for 20 years in a barn. 2. I am a bit wary of restorers who put the cars on back burners, cannibalize them for parts and then after years finally decide to cobble the car back together. Price of course is an issue, but know-how and familiarity with the 2002 are the most important thing 3. Car was in great condition before it went into storage but understandably lots of work needs to be done, I have ~$5000 in parts sitting here and understand there will be extras and additional things I will need. Any suggestions? Anywhere in Southern CA is fine, I can tow the car to where it needs to go! thanks!
  10. this story sounds familiar haha I'm working on my dad's 2002, a 1972 in storage in barn in central CA for 22-23 years. All the rubber is shot... I mean all of it, wheel bearings, brakes, all clutch and brake master/slaves are bad... sad thing is I found a receipt showing all the stuff being changed a year before it went into storage My dad's getting an xmas present... not sure he knows how much trouble its been but oh so worth it Good luck with it, the car looks like it'll turn out cherry when its done
