  1. When I had a 2002 with a trailer hitch, I had this trailer to tow behind it. Brought home a hood strapped across it, hauled the trash to the dump, and kept dirty autocross wheels out of my passenger seat and trunk. Deck is about 3 x 3.5, and sides are treated redwood. Trailer is in Avery, Ca. in Calaveras County. $200/offer. Reply by email or call 209-345-9319.
  2. Selling my classic 1974 BMW 2002. This is an excellent car that will serve you well as a daily driver, weekend canyon carver, European Coffee conversation-starter or restoration candidate. The car maintains its classic appearance, but has all the upgrades to make it run, stop and perform better. Those upgrades include: 5-speed conversion - cruise smoothly and quietly at 75 mph... Big brake conversion - Volvo calipers on 320i disks in front, larger 320 drums in back Larger 320 radiator for reliable mid-summer cooling Electric thermostatic cooling fan Third brake light MSD ignition - Starts first time, every time Weber 32/36 carb on port-matched head Stahl-type header New odometer, so actual mileage is unknown. Interior is semi-custom, with modern (but appropriate!) front and rear cloth Acura seats replacing the worn originals. Paint is good for its age, but there are a number of small chips and dings. Car is comfortable, quiet and dead reliable. (Did a 10-hour, one day round trip to Buttonwillow in October to watch the vintage races and I never questioned taking it.) Newer Michilin Pilot Exalto tires on basketweave wheels. (original steel wheels available.) Also have a small matching trailer available - great for swap meets or car shows. Selling becauase I have more cars than indoor parking places. $4,500 or best offer. No trades (unless you've got a 1963-67 Jaguar 3.4 or 3.8 S.) Email or call Steve at 209-795-7445. Car is located in Avery on Highway 4 70 miles east of Stockton.
  3. I now have three old BMWs and need to part with my 1974 BMW 2002. This is an excellent car cosmetically and mechanically and has been used as my regular weekly commuter from the Sierra high country to the Valley for the past three years. Car has all the right upgrades: 5-speed transmission swap, front and rear big brakes, Weber 32/36 carb, MSD ignition, Stahl-type header, upgraded cooling system. Interior has been redone with very plush seats from an Acura Legend. Jaguar foglamps and Euro front license plate. (CA plate in the trunk.) Accel 8mm plug wires and red coil. Mechanically it’s in perfect shape with new valves and steel-sleeved spark plug holes. Starts first time every time and drives like a dream. Only two issues: Alpine radio was installed poorly and sometimes works but usually doesn’t, and the MSD tach adaptor that allows the stock tach to read the MSD ignition needs replacing. ($55) BBS-style basketweave wheels with 1-year-old Michelin Pilot Exalto tires. Cosmetically the car is very good but not perfect. Original Sahara paint still has good gloss, but there are small dings and scratches that present the proper patina for a 36-year-old car. One of the nicest unrestored 2002s you’ll see, and could be restored to better-than-factory if that’s your interest. Has a tow hitch and matching small trailer perfect for taking to swap meets and car shows. Sell for $4,750, or trade for the right full-sized truck or truck and car-hauler combo. Need a reliable truck to tow a race car (BMW E30...) Not looking for problems and projects – just a decent, reliable vehicle with 5,000-pound minimum towing capacity. Truck – or van - must be current on registration and have a new smog certificate (we can talk about who pays to get it smogged, but I do want a current certificate before taking possession and title.) Pix won't upload, but I can email. Will trade up or down for the right vehicle. I’m located in Calaveras County. Email or call Steve at 209-795-7445.
  4. Here are mine - the shiny '74 and black-and-tan '76.
  5. Thanks. That explains the lack of L and R marks, too!
  6. Got a set of fixed camber plates from Top End Performance, but they're not marked left or right. Anybody got 'em and can tell me if the fat end faces back or forward? Thanks.
  7. Looking for seats for the autox car that don't weigh 45 lbs. each and considering the Corbeau Forza or FX1. Car will see some road time. I'm largish - 6'2", 225, 37-inch waist. (And like long walks on the beach, sunsets, and, oh never mind...) Anybody with experience and recommendations? Looking for something that I fit into the fits into the car (and the budget.) Thanks, and happy T-Day!
  8. Set of four caps in decent shape, but will need new roundel stickers. $10 shipped.
  9. I have a complete late bumper set - bumpers, accordians, shocks, shock covers, you name it. Make me an offer on any pieces you need. I'll take photos so you can see condition.
  10. Have a complete set of lower (kneeline) trim. Good shape - a dent or two in one of the long pieces. (See photo for more, can email additional photos.) Comes with many of the threaded fasteners. $75 shipped from 95224 Also, left and right hood trim pieces. $20 each shipped or $30 for both.
  11. VDO washer bottle in good shape, with cap, bracket and pump motor. (See photo for more, can email additional photos.) $55 shipped from 95224 Also have a second round VDO bottle, no cap or bracket and leaky pump motor. $20 shipped. Mount for VDO bottle that attaches to brake booster. FREE with purchase of either.
  12. If the float was sticky from varnished gas, it really could be that several new tanks of fuel cleaned it up enough to work better. Although the jumpy needle does sound more like an electrical issue as others have said.
  13. I have the console minus the radio. So it's the faceplate, ashtray, green mystery button and the sides if you need them. $40 shipped. I also have the whole ac blower unit being sold separately if you need that as well.
  14. I'm going to take it over this weekend and show them. George was the original owner and loved the car, but advancing years were catching up with him (hence the crash...) I'm hoping he'll be really happy to see it back on the road and not crushed or parted out. Thanks for all the kind words!
  15. Shiny! Did a 10-hour one-day trip in mine a few months ago and was most surprised by the complete absence of drama.
  16. I posted back in June when a local couple saw my Sahara '74 and gave me their wrecked Sahara '76. Here's a before and after. My first stab at serious bodywork and painting, and while the Pebble Beach crowd won't be quaking in their boots, I'm pretty happy with the results. Now onto some suspension work, and getting it ready to autocross in the Spring.
  17. It should fit: The collective wisdom of the board (and this thread: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,311275/highlight,early+cluster/) say they're interchangable. I'll post a picture here, but send me an email and I can send you another. Steve
  18. Shoot me an email and I'll send pix of both.
  19. I wanted to do the same thing with one of my '02s and visited a VARA race and talked to other guys running those cars and then prepared a pretty well-informed budget. Range was $18,000 to $26,000, depending, and the low figure was for top-end safety gear for me and the car, and minimum-necessary to moderate performance upgrades. High-end performance would be even more. Has your son considered autocross instead of wheel-to-wheel racing? Much cheaper, and the route I'll be taking for now.
  20. Snow tires are unmounted. They do, of course, fit on the steel rims also listed here - I'm open to offers...
  21. It is available. Email me your address so I can get a shipping quote for you. Thanks! Steve
