  1. I am in the process of fabricating engine mounts for my M20 swap and need clarification and helpful information regarding the engine location. I have some temp mounts fabricated (based off of other members and 6 into 2 descriptions), however, using the stock 02 engine mount locations I am only able to fit a 02 transmission mount bushing for the driver side because it is not as thick. I noticed in several photos that the passenger side mount is moved out and I want to know if this is typical for the swap (see photo)? It appears in all the photos I have seen that everyone uses a stock driver side mount bushing and I am assuming that they have to move the passenger side mount to do so.
  2. I'll try and make it too. The 02 just started an M20 swap so I'll be in my 79' 323i.
  3. Thanks for the info. I purchased this from IE and it is jetted for an 02. It is also has the correct linkage to receive an 02 throttle rod which from the pic in the link that carb does not. The carb also comes with a IE throttle rod for the 38.
  4. I also have the intake manifold for the Weber.
  5. I purchased all of these parts this summer and they have less than a 100 miles on them. I have started an M20 swap and will no longer need these. - Weber 38 DGES with electric choke $355 OBO - I.E. Tii Mechanical Advance Distributor with Electronic Ignitor $160 OBO - 8mm IE plug wires $40 OBO - Bosch Blue Ignition Coil $30 OBO If anyone has any questions please email me.
  6. I found a solid M20 for my swap and plan on rebuilding the head. Can anyone refer a good machine shop in the Tacoma area that can go through and prep the head before I rebuild it? I am in Gig Harbor. Thanks, Chad
  7. I am looking for a running M20 engine for my M20 swap. Craigslist has been a little slow for what I have been looking for. Thanks.
  8. I still have the original engine but thats not whats in it now. It has a euro 2.7L bottom end with an E30 323 head with the Motronic 1.3 fuel system, TeZet header, and a performance cam. There it a lot of upgrades to the suspension as well, including Alpina springs.
  9. Nope. A friend of mine in Edmonds had it for a few years and I got first dibs. He did a great job fixing it up.
  10. Thanks for the advice. Only was on for 30/45 seconds. Not going to get much sleep tonight....those are my babies.
  11. Just used a wheel cleaner that was supposed to be okay for polished rims, not so much. It totally trashed my RS's, any recommendations to take off the milky marks on my lips and to repolish? So pissed!
  12. Any chance on finding one of the 02 grill decks for sale?
  13. Here is half my problem. I dug out an old rod and bent it to match the new one I bought from IE and you can see why I had issues with the heater hose. The IE rod has everhing attaching to close to the firewall.
  14. My biggest worry is kinking the heater hose and or rubbing a hole in it.
  15. I already took out the spacer. I would say the rise is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch.
  16. I'll try and post pics tonight of what I am dealing with. I noticed from the pics I have seen that the throttle rod is level but in my mock up it is some what angled up to the carb.
  17. My 02 was originally an auto and I have converted it to a 4sp. I have been running a weber 32/36 with a throttle cable and just purchased a new 38/38 and updated throttle rod. After mocking everything I notice that I am going to have issues with the heater hose and throttle rod wanting the same space. Is the bracket that is mounted to the firewall, that isolates the one end of the throttle rod, mounted in a different location on auto's than 4sp. cars? I have read the FAQ on weber installs and seen the pics, which look no different than my set up.
  18. Great. Thanks. I'll let you know if I need one when I get the parts.
  19. I am looking for the lock ring/clip to use to secure the throttle rod to the carb, part # 13214440136. I just bought 38DGES and IE thottle rod and believe I am going to need the clip to finish the inslall.
  20. Before I post on Ebay....I have an early style heater core that I need to find a home. It has been pressure tested. $100 OBO.
  21. New question for same issue. I installed a new coil and wires and double checked everything else that is ignition, i.e. points and timing. After reading the ignition chapter in my manual it states that the automatic 02's on has 2-6 degrees of mechanical advance. My 02 was an automatic when I bought it and the number on the distributor is #0-231-180-003, but don’t know if that is the original distributor from my 1972 auto 02. If I have converted my auto into a 4sp. and still have the automatic distributor would this cause some of the problem I am having? Not sure is there is a difference...just thinking that the auto might have some type of load that is required on autos.
  22. I know it’s last minute but does anyone in the Gig Harbor area want to meet up at 7 Seas Brewery and possibly a drive?? I am not going to waste this day of sun.
