  1. hi all, i came across this listing on ebay (not mine) earlier and wanted to see if anyone has an opinion about it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150521534968#ht_500wt_1182 no listed VIN 2002ti badge (not a ti engine set-up) seller states it's set up like a 2002a (but pics show 3 pedals) based on that info, the price seems kinda high, but thought i'd ask the group.
  2. i did get the car through evan about 3 years ago, in a cash trade deal for my e30 M3 - that said, the car's in great condition, and has been very well taken care of since i've owned it. i'd actually hold on to it, but i want to get back to starting my '02 obsession.
  3. Hi everyone, the time has come to get back to chasing the dream. I’m looking to trade my e28 M5 (VIN# WBSDC9305J2791715) for the right 2002 or sell outright for $12,000 to free-up the funds for the right ‘02. In terms of trade, I’m looking for a well sorted turn-key tii or pre-smog (1975 or older) tastefully-modded non-injection ’02 (preferably dual-carb’d). I’ve been a forum member for a few years and have seen some really nice cars up for trade in the past, and was curious if anyone out there is interested in a trade. The M5 is in great condition, is super clean, has been my weekend ‘fun car’ and dry weather commuter around town for the past year of so (I live and work in San Francisco), it’s got 175k on the clock, and runs like a champ. The paint is a 9 out of 10, the interior is a 8 out of 10 and mechanically the car is in great condition (in fact the car had an inspection 2 service at 172k and a fluid ‘transfusion’ less than 1.5k ago). In addition to this work, the self-leveling suspension has been replaced with bilsteins, lowered running coil-overs and rides super tight. The electrical system is in great working order (from seats to windows, to sunroof, etc), and I had an alarm system installed. Last but not least, I have all records dating back to 2000. The car is currently covered and stored in Oakland, CA, I am in San Francisco. Reason for the trade/sale…my dream car has always been an ’02 and while I got side-tracked by an e30 M3 and the current e28 M5, it’s time to get back on track and achieve the dream. Thanks for looking and considering.
  4. thanks for all of the feedback. i'm in san francisco (CA), would love to hear about any leads or connections to help in my search.
  5. hi all, after a slight detour (e30 M3 and e28 M5), i've decided to resume my quest for an '02 to keep long term. that said, i was hoping to get your opinion(s) on whether a well sorted tii is a better (or more fun) way to go versus a well sorted dual carb'd '02. while it seems like tii's are easier to find, the thought of a well put together '02 with a stage 2 set up intrigues me. that said, i'd love to hear your thoughts as additional things to consider as i begin the journey. thanks for your help.
  6. +1 would love to get more info on the car as well as see what's under the hood.
  7. hi everyone i'm slowly but surely migrating from e30 m3s to 2002s and was hoping for some advice... with m3s there traditionally a $15k rule (amount necessary to get the car up and running mechanically and cosmetically). is there a similar rule of thumb for 02s? i've just been seeing prices that are all over the place - and while i plan on spending time with potential sellers and their cars, i just wanted to know if there are any tips out there to be aware of. sorry if this is a silly question. thanks for the help.
  8. thanks for the advice. i've come across several - actually been watching for quite some time. the reason i'm curious about beyond02 and bimmer brothers is that i live in san francisco and both places are relatively close. that said, any comments, advice or thoughts on those two companies and any others are greatly welcome and appreciated. thanks again.
  9. i live in the san francisco bay area - beyond02 and bimmer brothers are the local companies that i have been able to come across.
  10. hi everyone - i've been a reader for a quite while and have decided to join the forum. i'm currently an e30 m3 driver, and have decided to expand myself and get into the 02 world. that said, i'd love any recommendations or suggestions regarding if there's a reliable shop or company that can help me find (or sell me) and restore 2002s. from my research, bimmer brothers and beyond02 seem like solid options, but i'd love to hear what you all think - i'm not sure what their reputation is - are they straight shooters, good at what they sell and do, etc. ideally, i'd want to build up a stock 72 or 73 - stage 1 dual carb and suspension set up, but need some advice as to who the best team is to help me get things underway. thanks for your help.
