  1. Still looking for someone interested in a project.
  2. I want 10k for just the motor, it comes with the car. I don't have time to put into removing the engine. Removing the engine would also make selling the rest of the car that much more difficult. And to be totally frank, about half of my spend of not more went into the engine swap. M42 timing parts are not cheap... I don't recommend this shifter setup, it already required the purchase of extra parts just to get it to clear the driveshaft and it still doesn't feel good. I think it needs to be spaced up farther to align it better with the back of the trans.
  3. Ok, bringing the asking price down to $10,000. Still open to offers.
  4. I will entertain reasonable offers, this car has a pretty good body, a refurbished M42, and a lot of brand new running gear (suspension, brakes, etc)
  5. Cleaned up the interior, put the back seat in, reinstalled the glove box (full of engine ecu) Adding pictures of interior as it sits. Reminder the wood momo wheel doesn't come with it, but the adapter can if desired. Also got a few pictures of the trunk as well as a few of the problem areas. Last but not least a few engine bay pics. You will notice that I used 2x Deutsch connectors to replace the e30 c101 connector. One of the Deutsch connectors does not have its wires wrapped because it is awaiting a check engine light wire. I have not decided how to handle that yet, maybe the seatbelt light?
  6. Bumping this thread back up. I am hoping to get a few more pictures over the holiday break.
  7. Alright, i got some time today to clean up my posts a bit. All of the details about the parts and rebuild have been moved into the top post. The pictures have been organized a little bit into groups on the following posts. Please let me know if you have any questions or interest. Again I am open to offers, I am ready to have a garage spot for my ZHP.
  8. I am certainty open to offers. A lot of time and parts have gone in. But I have run out of free time to tinker with it to get it running just right. I could put some carpets in it and make it look a little tidier to try to sell it better but if it were me I'd want to get dry ice in there. So I decided to leave it as is. I'm not trying to hide anything. I have about 10k in the car (purchase of the car, engine rebuild, suspension, brakes, swap parts, etc.... it adds up quick) I have it listed at an optimistic price but I'd like to try to get out as much of what I put in as possible. Thanks everyone for your responses
  9. When I say kits for heater rebuild I mean: Water valve rebuild Sealing foam Fan motor Fan blade
  10. Yeah seems to be working well. Rebuilt it with the kit(s) from Blunttech. Bled the cooking system with heat on and it was blowing warm air. It's the original heater core so it's probably not in tip top shape but it does work. I took it for a short drive around the neighborhood and it started to blow warm air even on that shirt drive
  11. Here are some front suspension pics (pre-IE and Koni, pre-brake hoses). When I did the IE upgrade I repainted the struts
  12. I will be totally honest that I don't know how to price something like this. I bought the car for 3k and have put 6-7k into the motor/suspension/etc... I am trying to get out what I've put in or as close as possible and get the car to someone who can enjoy it. When doing the engine swap I did clean up a lot of the chipping paint and light surface rust in the engine bay and sprayed it with a quick ugly coat of white primer. I have some regrets about doing that but its better than rust... Some body/rust detail pics
  13. The wooden steering wheel doesn't go with it. It was in my mom's 2002 that she had in the 80's (she had to get rid of it cause of her pesky 3rd child... my bad) Interior Pictures (rear seats not currently installed)
  14. Engine Swap pics Engine as it sits today (no air filter...)
  15. Hello, I am posting my 1974 2002 M42 swap project. I bought the car in December 2020 and decided to M42 swap it when I found the engine and transmission early 2021. First on the block was rebuilding the M42. Nothing special, just refreshing the internals. The pace of the project started to slow down as my wife's pregnancy advanced. My son was born in March of 2022 and progress on that project ground nearly to a complete halt. For example it took me about a month and a half to re-bleed the clutch so I could get the car into gear. Anyway long story short, the car runs and drives. It needs some finishing work to drive well, but the fundamentals are there. Basics of the car: 1974 2002 Automatic (before the swap) Chamonix over Blue Exterior: Paint is in kinda ok shape... definitely multiple layers of paint there Driver side rocker panel is the only concerning rust that I have found E30 Bottle Cap wheels Belt Line trim is gone, planned to shave it Could use some new weatherstripping/seals No bumpers front or rear Interior: Heater box rebuilt (New seals, new fan, water valve rebuilt, new mounting bracket) Original seats and door panels (seats are cracked/splitting) Carpets removed for planned replacement Rebuilt Pedal Box and Booster linkage (IE performance bearings) Engine and Transmission: M42 and g240 5 speed Engine Rebuilt (E36 timing setup with new guides, new chain, new bearings, valve guides, hyd lifters, piston rings, classic daily engine mounts, headers, and AFM mount, IE exhaust system with custom downpipe) Coil On Plug ignition Electric fan on modified M42 radiator Drivetrain refresh (new solid flywheel and clutch kit, garagistic solid mount shifter (not a fan), Rebuilt CV Joints, Classic Daily transmission mount) E30 318i driveshaft with Classic Daily CSB mount brackets No tachometer, no speedometer Differential could use a refresh, it's a little noisy Battery relocated to trunk (E30 cable) E30 fuel pump Suspension: IE 3 and Koni shocks all new urethane bushings new ball joints New tie rods and steering bushings New bearings front and rear Fixed camber plates Brakes: Front (New Pads, discs, hoses, passenger caliper) Rear (New cylinders, shoes, drums, flex lines) I am asking $10000, I am open to offers. Pics from first post-swap drive Exhaust
  16. Thanks everyone for the replies. I have already disassembled cleaned and reassembled them. My issue is that I mixed all the parts up and did them all at once. So now I have some that are too loose and some that are too tight. Really what I need is a way to kind of match the parts up to one another. Secondary question regarding the 930 cv joint. Has anyone tried using one? Theyre like $35, I might just get a couple to see if they fit. Porsche CV Joint - Meyle 93033203400 | FCP Euro WWW.FCPEURO.COM Porsche CV Joint - Meyle 93033203400
  17. Step 1: I have searched I have read, I have questions Ok now that we have that figured out let me fill you in. I made the mistake of disassembling all 4 CV joints at once into a single pile of parts. Now, I have them all back together but they don't feel right. 2 went together very easily and are... Ok feeling. 1 went together with slightly more effort and feels pretty good. The last one was a pain to put together and is very tight. Clearly i have mismatched parts. So my questions are: 1) any tips to sorting the parts correctly? Are they batch marked or anything? Otherwise I'll just have to kind of guess and check. 2) has anyone tried using Porsche 930 cvs? They're pretty affordable and nearly the same size. My research shows that some vw guys use 2002 cvs in place of 930cvs. So it stands to reason that the reverse could be true. https://rorty.net/cv-joint-preparation/
  18. I've decided to hang on to the auto pedal box for a future project.
  19. No one in NC looking for a cheap project? Spare parts? I'd go as cheap as $100 for everything... I just want the few square feet and my dolly back...
  20. Stock radiator as far as I know. It worked fine the handful of times I drove the car. No leaks that I am aware of. Will try to get a picture of it tomorrow.
  21. Bump: still have it Only part that has left is the speedo cable. Still have: Engine and spare parts Automatic transmission Shifter Driveshaft Pedal box Ign coil Radiator Probably some other stuff I forgot. $250 for the lot of it, just have to come and get it.
