  1. I have a '72 Sahara in Suffolk, VA. Just dropped the price to $4,000. Pics upon request. -Chris
  2. Price drop to $4,000...lets see if we can spark some interest. -Chris
  3. This should get the ball rolling, I can email more detailed photos to those who are seriously interested. -Chris
  4. Thanks for the interest. The original ad on Craigslist has pics. Other than that though, I don't have too much more amplifying information on the car. I bought the car originally from a board member (John Wallace) who sold me a great car. I didn't have to really do anything to it to get it where it is today. Let me know if you want to swing by and take a look. Regards, Christopher http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/1963146911.html
  5. Own a classic sports car. This is a 1972 BMW 2002 recently painted in its original Sahara paint. Original motor rebuilt by Sports and Imports. Recent work includes a new head gasket, radiator, fan, hoses and belts done at Atlantic Autoworks. Mostly original interior. Almost complete service history since new. Clean pan and shock towers. Yoko tires mounted on newer BMW rims. Runs great. 5500 cash. For 300 more dollars, you can have a perfect one piece dash I haven't had the time to install. No trades or shipping. Local sale with cash or certified funds from a local bank. Pics upon request.
  6. I like the idea of an upgraded Bosch Starter too. With a new battery, upgraded alternator as stated earlier, and an upgraded Starter motor, you will have absolutely no problems starting and charging your monster for many moons to come! I don't, however, like the idea of the poly bushings you stated earlier. Mine was converted over from the PO, and it is a rough and unforgiving ride at times. The poly bushings for the alternator are practical though. Just my 02. -Chris
  7. Thanks C.D. and Friends. You can all be always relied upon to give great answers to vague questions. I wish all forums operated in this fashion, but sadly, they don't. Thanks for the help! Regards, Chris
  8. All, I have recently been running my 02 on more frequent occasions, and as would be suspected, all those problems rear their ugly heads. I took the car for a spin around the block after I took care of a charging problem that I was having. I noticed it was labersome to get the car into gear due to the shifter having excess play. As I was shifting, I could even hear the whole linkeage assembly striking the transmission tunnel. I thought it to be odd, but pressed on. As I was pulling into the driveway, it seemed that something gave way, and the whole assembly came free. I got it into the garage to inspect. Once I got it up in the air, I noted that the entire assembly was quite loose. I tightened the one fillibuster head screw that appeared loose, but it still have significant play. Everything else appears tight. Any ideas? Chris
  9. Glad it all worked out. Andraes is on top of his game. Regards, Chris
  10. Andraes Harz from Mobile will set you strait. His email is listed above. Give him a day or so, but he always replies. I promise you that. By the way, screwy VIN story: My VIN is one of the "recycled" VIN's, and mine comes up as a '88 318is or somthing screwy like that....Got all that strait with Andraes. Regards, Chris
  11. I know exactly what you are talking about. It pushes in when the door is closed and the dome light goes out, and when the door opens, it comes out by spring action to activate the dome light. I think the door buzzer might be controlled by this circuitry as well. Chris
  12. I think that most any car has a sort of "default value" of about $1k. You can sell/buy pretty much any car that is in less than reasonable shape for about that much. I would price all the things you need to get it running, and subtract that value from $1,000 and you probably have a fair price. If it doesnt work out, you could probably part the car and get more than $1,000 anyways. Hell, the guys in California will pay you a couple hundred just for your VIN.... Regards, Chris
  13. I had the same thing. New rubber did wonders for sure. Best of luck. Regards, Chris H.
  14. Well, more in...hot off the presses. The radiator is clearly an issue, however, I noticed milky oil on the dipstick! The head will be removed, and I guess I must pray for the worst. I will put the cooling system on hold and begin to address the issue of the engine. If its not one thing its another! Just got done with almost $3,500 in bodywork! I will keep the updates in. I will know more tommorrow.
  15. I would have to tend to agree. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this particular product? There was definitely coolant spraying from one point toward the bottom of the radiator. With no light, it was hard to tell whether it was coming from a bent fin etc.
  16. Hamada, Exactly so. When I took notice of the condition of the radiator, the fins were bent in places that I had not noticed them to be bent prior to instalation. I am unsure of Bavarian Autosports warranty policy. I had purchased a radiator from them for my car a few months ago, and they had asked if "antifreeze had entered it". I am unaware of whether this is a condition for return/refund/exchange. All I know is, I know think OE may be the best choice! Regards, Chris
  17. Hey All, Well, I buckled down and purchased the "Bavauto" Radiator Upgrade. This has been my second bad experience with their product. The first time they didnt even send me the correct lower hose! Well, after the install last week, she sat for a few days, and I finally pulled the car out of the garage and took it out for a nice day. After a little bit, I had to stop at a store, the hint of Antifreeze was in the air, I didnt think too much of it though, as I had a bit spill when I poured it in. I wrote that off as some simply cooking off. Once I took off again, I noticed the temp needle getting up there, fluxuating a bit. I stopped and pulled over to notice a bit of coolant in the bay. I started poking around and saw a few hose clamps a bit loose, so I tightened them up, added some more coolant, and went on my way back home. I went back out an hour or so later (before I got in, I looked for more leaks and saw none). I was going to Advanced Auto to look for some reverse lights. I bought my lights, and when I came back out, there was a huge puddle under the car! I popped the hood and it was pouring out of the radiator! It was physically spraying out of the fins, which was alarming. I quickly phoned my nearest flatbed and had her towed to safety. Any thoughts? I think I have a bad motor mount, and was thinking that the fan may be making contact with the radiator. My engine does shake extremely violently under any conditions, and the vibrations are felt throughout the car. It has polyurethane throughout, and thats why I wrote that off as possibly a side effect. Sorry for the length, but I am sad! Thanks for listening. Regards, Chris
  18. I dont think the key advantage of the M3 starter is weight loss, which would probably be minimal at best. Where the advantage lies is the power in which it generates to turn the engine over better (the winter is where it is key in my opinion). A rebuild is a good way to go I am sure as well. I, however, never fell prey to rebuilds, i prefer to just buy new and know what I am getting! ) Good luck, and happy motoring. Regards, Chris
  19. I have never owned a 2002 with a sunroof, but I owned its big brother E21 with one. It was a COMPLETE nightmare. The manual system that it utilizes is a ridiculously complex. So ridiculous that when I got fed up and brought it to my BMW Certified indie for them to fix what I started, they told me they didnt know if they could fix it for less than $2,000. They told me the cheapest route was to weld it up and call it a day. Not saying that sunroofs are not a bad choice, but with so many affordable models available w/o sunroofs, why would you open yourself up to that utterly depressing nightmare! They leak, they rust, its more rubber you have to buy. Not a good time. Chris
  20. Yea, I figured. I wonder why not! I guess the next best thing would be the CD's from the dealer. Thanks to all. Chris
  21. Thats what I am using. Starts the engine well in cold weather as well. I have never experienced anything else however, as mine was installed when I purchased my car well over a year ago. I vote yes. Chris
  22. I agree. I own the Chilton's, but I am attempting to find the Bentley. Anyone have a link to a site where they sell it?
  23. Does anyone have a link to where I can buy a Bentley Manual for my 02? I have the Chilton's, but dislike how it is arranged. I have looked for a Bentley, but have yet to find one. Thanks! Chris
  24. +1. I have had similar experiences with my 535is. What will happen is the water will get into the trunk, and then creep its way into the cabin by the rear "firewall" behind the rear seat. Not a good time. I sealed the "throughways" with silicone and JB Weld and that at least contained the water within the trunk. If there is water in the front floorboards, I would pay attention to the windshield seal, door seals, any deteriorated rubber that penetrates the firewall, and sunroofs dont help. GL Chris
