  1. Tomorrow is a significant milestone in the life of my daily driver, Mojo, a '71 agave '02. It will be his 40th birthday. I'd like to digress with a little of Mojo's history. I'm the third owner of this California blue plate car. It was purchased off Ebay about 4 years ago. I flew into LAX, picked up the car at the studio of a 3rd generation pornographer and drove it to Kansas (you can't make this stuff up). I decided on the way that the car has got to have a name. I switched radio stations and the first lyrics I heard were, "Mr. Mojo risin" from the Doors' LA Woman. I had to go with it! Anyway, I wanted express my sincerest gratitude to all the members who have contributed to these forums. It has been your wealth of expert knowledge, plus a few parts here and there, that has kept my car running as dependably as the day it was made. Thank you all!
  2. My headlight switch burned up on my 2002. I have another switch that I believe belongs to later a '02 because it has a different layout for the terminals and terminal numbers. My Haynes' schmatic isn't readable. To compound things, I think the PO did some rewiring and changed colors. If you have a legible schmatic of the later switch, could you please email me what devices correspond with the different terminal numbers on the later headlight switch, such as what terminal number goes to the dimmer switch and which terminal corresponds to the dash lights, headlamps, side lamps, etc? briceDOTwaddillATprodigyDOTnet Thanks, Brice
  3. My headlight switch burned up. I need one asap for my daily driver. Thanks!
  4. I have a two-post oil pressure sender unit for a 150 lb VDO gauge and the low oil pressure light on the instrument cluster. The cluster lamp works fine and all the wiring checks out for the guage and between the gauge and sender. The sender is less than a year old. Are there any tests I can perform to tell me if the gauge or sender is broken? Thanks!
  5. I'm desperately in need of one set of the small chrome knobs on the quarter window latch that let you loosen or tighten the quarter windows. Please email me if you have a set or an entire latch you can sell me. Thanks!
  6. I do comparable from 60 - 65 mph. Over 70 mph, my MPG drops dramatically with my 4 speed tranny.
  7. Thanks all. After a quick inspection, it tooks like I have to get a little deeper into. The plugs are good and the valve clearance is adjusted properly. What is puzzling is that the noise is intermittent, anything from non-existent to very loud (at idle or speed). Brice
  8. I fear the worst and hope for the best. My '71 02 started making a prounounced metallic tapping last night about a mile from home. I was driving normal and had just shifted into 2nd. It was so bad that I could feel it through the clutch pedal. About a block from home the noise subsided somewhat and I didn't feel it though the clutch pedal any longer. It was kind of like a no spark condition in a cylinder, except that the car acclerated well. I checked the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and valve clearances. All seemed in order. I drove to work this morning, and the car still has good accleration and doesn't seem to be missing (I think the timing is good). The noise is still there, and got worse again after I got near work (after about 10 miles). I can tell that it's not the tranny (noise is there in neutral and the frequency of the tapping increases when I depress the accelerator). The noise seems to be coming from the head or the block. There was no indication of any oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. I have an older engine and get some blow-by on deceleration from higway speeds. Any and help is very much appreciated.
  9. I'd like some opinions on this one. I live in Kansas where summer temps are often above 100 and winter temps can hover around 0. Problem is the heater runs quite cold in winter, particularly during highway driving or with temps below about 30. I think the radiator, heater core, valve and hoses are all good. I'm not sure which thermostat I have, but its a California car. Should I switch between the summer and winter thermostats to accommodate seasonal temps? Seems like a hassle, but I don't want to chance overheating the engine during the summer. Thanks.
  10. Anybody know a source for the individual purchase of the upper chrome trim clips? I lost my front hood trim on the highway last night. Bavauto has a complete package for about $100, but I only need 6 - 12. I'm also looking for a front hood trim piece in good shape if anybody has one they can part with.
  11. Like Tom and skinnyd, my '02 is a daily driver. Some days are better driving days than others, but everyday in an '02 is better than in something else (heavy snowfall excepted). The way I figure it, Mojo won't last forever, but then again, neither will I. I'm gonna squeeze it for all it's worth and enjoy every second of it.
  12. Both are well spec'd. I believe a test ride of each is in order.

  14. Daily driver in all conditions. It's all in the tires. Yoko AVID H4s/V4s highly recommended. I have to want to lose traction on wet pavement.
  15. Another one for Julius!! Everyone remember that you can vote once daily.
  16. Jordan, Email me please. I'm after a tranny in Wichita. Brice
  17. In Wichita?? That's the equivalent of seeing a buffalo on a LA freeway. Did he have local plates?
  18. If everything checks out...and it sounds like it might, it seems like a very reasonable price too me.
  19. After checking the timing and plug wires, pour a "little" gas in the carb and see if she cranks over better. A plugged or gummed up idle jet can keep it from starting. If it runs for a second or gets closer to turning over than before, clean your jets.
  20. Looks great except your license plate is hanging crooked.
