  1. If the notch on the cam shaft is directly under the oil bar and the exhaust and intake rockers on the #1 cylinder are on the backside of the cam lobe, the notch on the crank pulley lines up with the pointer on the timing chain cover, and the "TO" line is lined up with the flat side of the observation hole, then it is safe to assume you are at TDC and you can stab your distributor and determine the position of the #1 spark plug wire on the cap (where the rotor is pointing). 2. I think that jp5Touring was suggesting that you send a PM (private message) to BarneyT to see if he has any photos. Just hover your cursor over the blue @BarneyT button and select Message. You might also try @adawil2002 for pictures of his 1600 Cab. Mark92131
  3. Beautiful restoration, but Inka Orange? Mark92131
  4. Welcome to the best forum on the Internet. I've owned 3 in this color, hard to beat proper Pastel Blau! Have fun with your new ride. Mark92131
  5. Unfortunately, I sold the cab a couple of years ago. As I remember, there was an inner layer of the top that was attached to the rear of the side window frame and the outer layer of the top was anchored to the bottom of the window, but just draped over the back edge of the side window. I hope your tailor can figure it out. Mark92131
  6. Here's a video of the convertible top operation on my 1971 BMW 1600 Voll Cabriolet. I hope it helps! Mark92131
  7. Will look black at night! Maybe a shade lighter would help! House of Kolor C2C KBC09 Organic Green Kandy? Mark92131
  8. Pretty popular on E3 and E9 models. 2002's in this model, repainted or paint to order? Lots of variation (single stage vs clear coat?) in shade for Code "068", but I suspect the E3 below is closer to OEM. Mark92131
  9. I bought mine from Wallothnesch for my 1970 BMW 1600. Mark92131
  10. The FAQ classifieds is a good starting point. Go to the Cars for Sale section and type "project" in the search bar for examples. Mark92131
  11. I considered a number of greens before painting my Nevada car back to its original color. The E21's had some nice metallic greens that were in contention. Mark92131 Reseda Green Opal Green Cypress Green
  12. Those relay connections don't match the wiring diagram I have for cars using the ballast resistor. #30 gets switched power directly from the fuse box (not the starter) and connects to the positive side of the coil through the ballast resistor. If you are removing the ballast resistor, you need to still connect #30 to the "+" side of the coil. #87 only connects to the "+" side of the coil, not to switched power from the ignition. Mark92131
  13. WTB ad for a timing cover with a pointer? Correctly marked and painted flywheel? I've got nothing! Mark92131
  14. This new sticker accurately reflects the CO% setting adjustments at idle for the BMW 2002 in 1976. In earlier cars the CO% was significantly higher (up to 8% at 1000 RPM). Of course, State emission testing has gotten more sophisticated (and restrictive) over the years, so manufacturers' data for CO2% or HC, or NOx may not have been available in 1976 because no States were testing these exhaust elements. If you need a number for CO2%, i would use the @visionaut number of 1300 PPM and pray that you don't need to actually test it. Mark92131
  15. Going through my parts stash and found this pair of fixed camber plates. I'm already using a pair of these on my build, so these are spares I'm not going to need. $100 for the pair, (R&L), shipped to your location in the CONUS. Paypal (F&F) preferred or cover the fees. Thanks for looking, Mark92131
  16. Maybe @pierre02ti has the part you are missing. Mark92131
  17. @Seb may have the switches you need. Mark92131
  18. The heater box ground on my car is a small braided strap. The wiper ground is a straight brown wire. I don't have AC, so maybe part of your Bear "Behr" AC? I've disassembled a lot of these cars and never seen a factory ground strap like that one. Mark92131
  19. Looks pretty solid! You'll know more when you get those tar sheets off the floorboards with some dry ice. Have fun and welcome. Mark92131
  20. Was #1658 assigned to a specific member? Maybe the Commodore can have an administrator look it up. I used to sail Flying Dutchman's for Mission Bay Yacht Club and spent a lot of time competing against SDYC. Never saw a BMW 2002 in their parking lot. Mark92131
  21. Something isn't right. Pictures would help. Here's my setup on my 1970. MVP short-neck tank, long rubber filler. As you can see, there is an integrated flange/cap mounting plate inside the trunk. If yours bolts in, you will use the short-neck filler and long later tank. Mark92131
  22. How do I fix this issue? Could I just vent it to my new coolant reservoir instead of the thermostat? Mark92131
  23. Last week, after sorting my "heater box" coolant leak, I was trying to sort the static timing on the S14. I ordered a cheap Chinese timing light off of Amazon because it supported 2/4 cycle ignitions and the EDIS-4 module doesn't like my Innova 3568. I hooked it up, started the engine and tried the new timing light. Well, the RPM readings were right, but the light output was weak and the timing mark was jumping around like crazy (rock steady with the Innova). I sent it back to Amazon and bought the fancy, high-end Innova with 2/4 cycle support. After the timing session, I came back in the garage and was greeted with a pool of coolant from the radiator overflow hose. Back to Amazon and bought a matching coolant reservoir. Installed it today.
