  1. same here, not a single item. No dead animals, no $, no drugs, no tools, no paper slips. nothing....... and I've been in every inch of the car. I think the previous owner(s) was quite the neat freak.
  2. Jim McKenna, he considered buying it. He fwd'd ~ 10 picss of it to me. Scott Sislane
  3. Hi Rob, I think you made it over to our FB page? (I haven't been on the faq as much as I used to) How's the body work coming along? I'm in Wolfeboro and get over your way on occasion, if you need any help. I have a 76 but removed all smog/vacuum lines so my engine bay wouldn't be of much help. I did do a complete engine bay & drive-train overhaul myself though, so I could probably be of some help. If you would email me I would love to add you to our group list scott@bmw2002.us and will include you on the very occasional group emails. Welcome! Scott Sislane
  4. I bought a BMW door 3 years ago through Bav Auto. It fits perfectly. I believe it's the fenders that get funky. Scott
  5. So in February they they must've run out of tags. (mine being 2379667 and no tag)
  6. My Feb 1976 does not have the riveted tag either, and was 98% original when I bought it. This is the first thread I have read about this. Very interesting. VIN 2379667 was manufactured on February 16th, 1976 Scott
  7. My condolences Lenny. He was always a helpful & humorous man. Glad you will carry on the heritage. Scott Sislane
  8. Very Nice! Mine is actually a very dark blue. Looks black in dim light. Scott
  9. Totaled would be determined starting with the agreed value of your car with the insurance company, then deduct the repair costs. I hope you had collector car insurance? That's a horrible sight. Amazed the car that hit and ran made it very far.
  10. I just ran through an electrical issue myself, and started at the fuse box, checking for continuity between each fuse and chassis ground. When I found the circuit with the dead short, I knew where to start looking. No need to power the circuits to trouble shoot. Scott I just ran through an electrical issue myself, and started at the fuse box, checking for continuity between each fuse and chassis ground. You just need a simple volt meter: http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Digital-Multimeter-Voltmeter-Ohmmeter/dp/B00KHP6EIK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437923393&sr=8-1&keywords=voltage+meter Scott
  11. A few years ago, I had cut 1 1/2 coils off the front springs and also removed the 1/2" spacers. (Stamped "75") Also cut rear springs 1 coil. (IIRC) The additional height of these tires (Not sure why, same specs as last set) and ET17 Offset was causing fender rub when I was hitting bumps on a test drive yesterday. I got back home and re-installed the 1/2" spacers. Test drove and it's perfect. I have bogue strut inserts which are fairly soft. Scott
  12. Thanks!! The rust spot was under a wheel weight. When the shop was blasting it went through. Scott Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Borrani's: 13x6 ET17. Rcv'd last winter, blasted, soaked, 1 rust repair, powder coated Argent Silver then clear coat. Center caps are 57mm, and the hole is 59mm. Pics of before resto, after, and now on the car. Scott
  14. Finally finished and on the 02. Borrani 13x6 ET17. 185/70/13's. Scott
  15. *** SOLVED *** Fuel pump power lead was grounded out under sill cover. (Metal clip pushed down on it). Replaced 3 sections of melted wire at fuse box (same circuit Fuel pump on). Repaired power line to fuel pump. All systems go. 1976: After sitting for 3 weeks, with battery tender, I turn the key, fuel pump running (powered off that circuit the two green wires are connected to), not sounding like it wanted to fire up, started turning slower, then smoke from those green wires. (Mainly one of them) Fuse #12 if I am not mistaken. Any insight? I have removed the electrical tape. I used a crimp connector to splice the red lead in, which powers the carter fuel pump. That line appears fine. I inspected about 3 feet of it, and pump was running. Fuel is in the line. Thoughts? Scott
  16. several months later... last pic when I rcvd'd them. Scott
  17. I cannot figure out how to contact someone who is registered, ie: I see a VIN close to mine, I want to contact the owner. What do I do? Thank you very much for maintaining the database and site. I registered long ago and continue to visit and update my info. Scott
  18. Original steelies can look really nice, and they look much better than bottle caps, IMHO. Scott
  19. My old post was archived and I see a search in the forum for "Odometer Repair" yields nothing...: http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/83423-odometer-repair/ Hope it helps- Scott

  21. One of my favorite projects. $25.15, believe it or not, is 10 times what it should cost though. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/89357-glove-box-flocking/?hl=%2Bflock#entry342513 Everyone flock! O=00=O
