  1. My set is at the interior shop right now, the interior guy thinks the original colour is black, I think it's charcoal. Are either one of us correct?
  2. As high as you can get them because you are going to be under the car on your back doing the work. And I hope you are talking about jack stands, and not just using a couple of floor jacks. Good luck with the fix.
  3. Stock, you can have my aftermarket filter if you want it. To my eye, it looks wrong and draws too much hot air.
  4. That is a really clean looking car, man would I like to build one. Since you started with an auto, did you use the S14 5 speed instead of a 320i 5 speed. If yes, was there a lot of cutting. Cheers
  5. I have 2 interested parties locally (Toronto area). I'll let you know if it doesn't work out. Sorry to jack the original thread
  6. I have a set of 14x6 Panasports for sale kris dot c dot tobias at gmail dot com
  7. I've tinkered with the STi to where I have 330 hp at the wheels so yes, compared side to side the Tii is a cruiser. It's not so much that, more the fact that the Tii is well sorted with suspension, big brakes etc and it feels like it could easily deal with another 20-30 hp to add to the fun I already have driving it. On driver training, absolutley, I do 1 school per year, even managed to get my employer to pay for me (and my customers) to go to shifter kart and F2000 school!
  8. Yep, Fred's is still going strong. Used to work as a waiter and I have some funny stories about Fred's to tell sometime....
  9. I appreciate all the thoughtful advice, this really is a great forum. My car's pretty well sorted now. Suspension is new (Bilsteins, H&R springs, new bushings etc)., motor is rebuilt. Engine develops good power up to about 5500. It idles properly and is a faithful daliy driver. The motor is coming out for a repaint of the car and that's what got me thinking about more performance. Based on what I'm hearing here I'll stay away from the cam (and potential K-fish woes) and maybe look at a header and exhaust if anything at all. It really is a fun car to drive as it is. I'll stick to modding my WRX Sti. And Delia, next time you're in Toronto, dinner, no problem! We have a great 02 community up here in Toronto, we just hibernate for a few months each year.
  10. Like the title says, thinking about the following: 292 Shrick cam IE Step headers Some type of compatible free flowing exhaust Any other supporting mods as necessary Anyone have a similar setup? Please enlighten me as to whether this is a good path or should I leave well enough alone with the Tii and just enjoy it stock? I don't mind spening the $$ if I can extract good, reliable. measurable gains in performance. Thanks
  11. Santa Cruz-Buffalo = $1000...prices were between $800-$1200 but the $1000 option was door-to-door and reputable
  12. I bought a load of trim from Blunt on this board and he was easy to deal with and the prices were good.
  13. It's over $1000 already, still under the reserve price.
  14. Thanks Blunt, going to buy a roller as I want to roll the fenders on my STi as well.
  15. The 13's are not tucked like my 14's are, but they are 1/2" wider and the inside lip of the fender is nailing the sidewall of the tire about 2" down when I'm driving. How much can I get out of rolling? I like the idea of this in conjunction with your idea for the springs.
  16. My 73 Tii currently has H&R springs and 14x6 Panasports with 185/60/14 tires. I just did a test fit with my new wheels this morning. Alpinas 13x6 front, 13x6.5 rear with 185/60/13 all around. The fronts fit just fine (with a small spacer to clear my E12 calipers) but the rears are rubbing. This is not a complete surprise since my Panasports are tucked under the rear fenders with only a fingers worth of space. So, my question is, anyone have a recommendation for springs, something closer to stock height but stiff since I want to take the car to the track. Thanks
  17. I know the throttle bodies are different on the Alpina version...is the pump any different than a stock Tii pump?
  18. I ordered from them and they were fine, good communication and shipping. Keys are good quality.
  19. I just got a set of staggered Alpina 13" wheels beautifully restored by dapbmw. Tried a fitment tonight over my front brakes and they are rubbing on the edge of the calipers. I'm running E12 5 series calipers and 320i discs, 320i drums in the rear. IS there a lower profile caliper I can use with the 320i discs? Or does anyone have a suggestion for a smaller rotor/caliper that still offers great performance? I really want to run these wheels and maintain strong braking performance. If nothing else I suppose I will get out the dremel and work on the edge of the caliper. A pic of dapbmw's work
  20. Clean, nice work. Love the color and the shaved markers. What year rear bumper is that. My car is going to be torn down for paint in a few months and I like the look of the rear bumper. Kris

  22. Ok I'm hearing all the advice...my car is a 5 speed..and it is lowered..going back to the drawing board on this one.
  23. Thanks for the advice. We actually do have an expert, Marcus Glarner, who knows his stuff. http://www.glarnermotorsports.com/index.htm He races a beautiful 3.0 CSL in vintage events.
  24. Anyone have experience with them? I'm looking to add headers and a Schrick 292 camshaft to my 73 Tii. any thoughts appreciated. Kris
