  1. I second that all roundies had those holes and that they were plugged by little chrome capped plastic plugs. Mike and John_in_VA and gueststone02 are correct. So... what they said.

  3. My '67 "Red" had a dealer installed Blaupunkt and Hirshman antenna on the drivers side. That car came from the defunct Weber Motors in San Leandro CA (but the family owned Fresno CA store is still going strong) I suspect the fender mount antenna on the Ebay '68 1600 has allot to do with the Motorola inside, and nothing to do with availability of pillar mounted ones.
  4. This one is nice too, a real time capsule. I love the super rare chrome instrument cluster with brake light. just the thing to turn into a shift light! :-) My own Manilla '68 at 1560847 is only a few hundred earlier, they may have been on the same boat. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=023&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=360007944717&rd=1
  5. 1. 28-30psi, and monitor the tread wear at each oil change for over/under pressure and add or lower accordingly. 2. No, the M20 family of BMW engines that come in that 325es has a very different bell housing bolt pattern, so that Getrag 260 will not fit. You need a Getrag 245 5 speed from an '80 through very early production date '83 e21 320i only, for the easiest conversion. HTH
  6. I got a Makita mini 7.2V Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Screw Driver Kit... http://www.makita.com/menu.php?pg=product_det&tag=TD020DSEW
  7. http://www.aircooledresearch.com/images/6vcoil.html Enjoy...
  8. I had to avert my eyes! As soon as I realized what was about to happen I had to turn it off!! That hurts!!!!!!!!! Now I'm scarred for life!!!
  9. If you ever have any questions and or need help in tracking down some rare bits and pieces never hesitate to drop me a line.... tjones02 at hotmail dot com...... If I had the money I would restore every early 1600-2 I lay my eyes on, until then I'll keep finding more and more inventive places to put them all. :-) Don't be afraid to change a few things here and there.... like short neck diff/subframe so you can get a five speed in there.... I second BarryA's opinion.... but... on the other hand keeping my '66 6-Volt was/is lots-o-fun (I will get it back on the road one of these days....!) My 1600-2 VIN's.... '66 1508028 '67 1528923 '67 1530962 '68 1560847 see the http://www.bmw2002registry.com for pictures... the pic for the '66 is pre big front end accident and the "152" car is supposed to be the donor for the front sheet metal. It looks like my "152" car is only a few hundred newer than yours... My "Red" is what the Muscle car and V-Dub guys call Rat Rod Resto Custom... but will get painted and may even have pig cheek flares one of these days! :-) My "156" car still had the remote booster brakes....
  10. That's Mo's car "MOSPEED2002" on this forum. It's got a very nice S14 motor in it and in general is very trick! Maybe he'll poke his head in and speak up. One of his latest posts here.... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/p,465398/highlight,/#465398
  11. Don't forget that many E3's/Bavarias had them too! That's where we got the one for my cousin Matt's '74 Tii roof.
  12. That's a soooooooooOOO nice a! I've always liked that look. Now ya need a set of caps for those bare centers. #8 36 13 1 127 230 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=1111&mospid=47263&btnr=36_0018&hg=36&fg=10 There's a nice picture at BavAuto http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?part=36%2013%201%20127%20230&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googlebase&utm_source=36%2013%201%20127%20230
  13. In around '91 or so my sister got 33 MPG in "Red" on a trip to LA. It at the time had the balanced 2 liter, 121TI, 9.3 CR, standard 32/36 Weber, tii exh manifold, "002" tii dizzy, stock tii exh, 240 5spd, 4.10 diff, ST springs, Konis, 19mm bars, and 205/60-13 Yoko Y352's. She kept a gas log book like mom and dad, so the proof is in writing! When I had it in that same configuration I could only muster 29 MPG.
  14. may have been conceived in one...... If there's still a mount for YOUR child seat in the back of your parent's tii... If some of your earliest memories are of Dad whining about having to slow and pull over so the kids can barf, while on a CCA Rally. If more of your earliest memories are of you and Dad hanging out at Berkeley BMW Salvage on Saturdays instead of going to the zoo!... If family road trips included cross country treks to O-fest in the back seat of the FAMILY car a '72 2002tii..... Learned to drive in the family tii.... If you know and understand first hand why every Drivers School meeting has one of the instructors telling Driver School attendees that they think everyone should first learn on a stock 1600 before they take their monster M-whatever out on the track! If you think your '67 1600-2's VIN of 1530962 and it's engine's VIN of 2530962 is more than cosmic. If your love of '02s lead you to become a professional BMW mechanic. If while at work, while wrenching on M-whatevers and P-cars you still daydream of your '02. If you compare all other cars you ever drive (and work on) to '02s. If you plan on owning one of your '02s for the rest of your life, leaving it to the kids in your Trust. If your wife is referring to your '02s when she tells other people of your mistresses. There are Ford families and there are Chevy families, BUT I grew up in a BMW '02 Family!
  15. David Lumbra at http://www.2002restorations.com in Eugene would be happy to help in any way he can. If I were in your position I would put together an estimate of the new parts required and take the check and have the body and paint done!
  16. Sometimes the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the BMW CCA http://www.svbmwcca.org/ does joint events with the Sacramento Valley Chapter Porsche Club http://www.derporsche.net/ ... I believe the Porsche guys would let you run if you spend the extra to join up too. The Golden Gate Chapter of the BMW CCA.... http://www.ggcbmwcca.org/ has its own Autocross series... if you've never done such things might I suggest a Car Control Clinic from the GGC BMW Chapter.... http://www.ggcbmwcca.org/?page=clinic Enjoy,
  17. American Eagle replicas of EMPI 8 spokes.... The original EMPIs were 2 piece, split behind the spokes... VERY Very rare and worth real money! The repro American Eagles are 1 piece.... http://www.aewheel.com/eagle_alloy_wheels.cfm?id=51 The 4 lug VW beetles are 4x130mm.... sorry Charley they don't..... fit. But if they're two piece they're worth BIG Dough!
  18. Howdy' I grew up in Kensington and still frequent the area to see my Parents. Anyone that wants to put together an East Bay drive is welcome to contact JP @ http://bayarea02.com/ or set up one on your own... I'd love to join in!
  19. It just needs to sit a few millimeters 1/8 - 3/16" away from touching the front of the mount. under extreme forces it helps prevent the motor from twisting too much. Tom
  20. The screw is threaded into a spring clip.... part(9) 07 12 9 925 712 with a chrome screw (7) 07 11 9 902 236
  21. The driver side can be done by hand, rocking the motor over to slip the old one out and the new one in. The passenger side will need a little help from the trusty floor jack on the oil pan with some kind of soft pad like a block of wood in between jack and pan. Don't forget to keep and align the safety piece on the pass side. Use new wave lock washers, not nyloc or other locking nuts. HTH
  22. http://suspension.com/ is where I got mine, though I don't think they have anything but BLACK. Getting individual pieces 'll be very difficult you may have to get another entire kit and return the first one to BavAuto.
  23. nice pitcure indeed, but i doubt we can use this as a reference, or call it a "factory photo" this picture was made on a purpose, which was to show the engine by itself in an advertisement. For all the Tii and '02 motors I have seen every detail on that factory photo is correct, down to the hose clamps.
  24. There are a few '02 piston and compression ratios missing there CD.... Turbo, US Tii, TI..... They're all found at the http://www.bimmers.com/02/ page under "FAQs and Specs" then "Engine" then "Cylinder Heads" This is even a incomplete list as it's missing the "118" 1800, 1600 and 1600ti head pistons. Also here.... http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/topic_view,threads/p,365787/t,282254/ HTH
