  1. Now on Bring A Trailer 1972 BMW 2002tii BRINGATRAILER.COM Bid for the chance to own a 1972 BMW 2002tii at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #83,292.
  2. The AC does work, although it probably need a charge at this point.
  3. I am going to correct the description to eliminate "Euro" given the VIN. The other parts of the story including the first several years in germany, and the interior will just be part of the description. Thanks to all for chiming in.
  4. Jim, I am not sure whether it was US spec or Euro converted when it came to the USA. The first few years were spent and serviced in Germany (as evidenced by the records I have), so it was not just a European delivery.
  5. For sale is my much loved Agave 1972 2002 tii owned for the pat 20 years. It began life for the first few years in Germany, and I have full documentation & receipts. It then went on to California before coming to me. It now has 101000 miles as it only recently turned over. The motor was rebuilt at 75,000 miles about 17 years ago, and it has been flawless ever since with multiple trips to the Vintage and Mid-America. It was also repainted at some point prior to my ownership, and has been garaged ever since. This is not a concours car, but a great looking driver in complete working order. Well, actually, the A/C probably needs charging. If you have a serious interest, please contact me at eight one four 2 zero 4 2 zero zero 2. 6. Patrick, left you a VM. Thanks
  7. 1976 BMW 2002 Sunroof This car was originally going to be a street legal hillclimb car, so it was chosen for its solid chassis with no rust and no damage. The interior was stripped, and an SCCA rear roll cage was added. Next, the drive train was addressed. The performance engine was built by the pros at Apex Vintage Sports & Racing Cars in North Carolina. It has new pistons, magnafluxed rods, ARP bolts, oil pan baffle, a 292 cam, urethane hoses, etc. It is equipped with a 38/38 carb. The lightened flywheel was mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Scheel seats were installed. Urethane bushings, a new pedal box, and Bilsteins were installed. The manual sunroof works. The car was driven from North Carolina to Arkansas and then to Florida in its current state, for the 2018 Mid-America event, so it is a solid running driving car. Cosmetically, this car is a canvas. It can complete the journey to more of a competition car, the cage can be unbolted to return it to a pure street car, it can be enjoyed as-is, or anything in between. I grew to like it as-is, as a complement to my stock roundie tii. A major downsizing is the only reason that this is offered for sale. It comes with the complete set of original beige seats, a set of gold-centered 13" BBS rims, and the original front bumper. The mandatory box of misc parts, and a folder of receipts including the engine rebuild is included. Clear title. IMG_3389.jfif

  11. Went for a 35 mile drive today. Significant in that it was the longest drive For this car In 6 years . There are still many things to sort out, But the ability to drive the car Is a milestone .
  12. This evening, I spent some "quality" time bending some brake line for the front wheel on the squarelight. What started this whole saga was a desire to install the steel braided lines I had sitting around for some time. A couple of the fittings on the hard lines were chewed up by a previous owner, and hence the need to replace one of the hard lines as well.... While trying to bend the lines, I wondered why there is a short section of hard line from the caliper in the first place? It goes to a perch on the strut tower, where a rubber line (originally, now steel braided in my case) then goes a short distance to another perch on the fender wall, to connect to a hard line again. I fully understand that flexiblitiy is needed between the wheel with suspension travel and the fender wall, but why not just make a single flexible connection from the caliper to the fender wall? It just seems like unwanted fittings (just waiting to be rounded off) and connections, exposed to the elements and the most corrosive of fluids. If the factory didn't, why didn't the aftermarket just make full steel braided lines? Is the braking performance difference of 12" of hard vs flex that significant ? I also realize that this is not strictly a BMW or a 2002 issue, but I am guessing that the wizards on this forum can quickly set me straight....
  13. Really a shame, and I was about to place an order this weekend. Their site was still fully functional and I almost missed the notice by going directly to the catalog as usual. I hope the positives they generated over the years will inform the remaining competitors....
  14. First of all, welcome ! You are joining a great community. Regarding the gearbox, I have driven my 72tii everywhere including an annual multi-state pilgrimage, with the four speed. It is built to run at highway RPMs, so it is mostly the driver that tends to be uncomfortable with an engine running that high. That said, when I had a chance to put together my 76, I chose to do the 5 speed conversion. The motor was out of the car and apart anyway, and the flywheel and clutch were getting attention, so it was partly opportunistic, and partly a desire to relax the motor for longer interstate journeys. If there is nothing wrong, and you have no other reason to go there, I would personally leave the four speed alone. If you are going to do motor and replace clutch, etc, as indicated, then this is the opportunity.....once again, welcome.
  15. Thanks Harry, but I found one. I am all set for now.
