  2. I am planning on installing a roll bar in my 1970 2002 before an upcoming DE. I have been looking at the Autopower “Race” model with removable cross brace. I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions on ease of installation, quality, timely delivery, etc. on this or other roll bars. Thanks, Chris 1970 Sahara 2002
  3. Thanks to everyone for their help. The problem was in the ignition switch not the key lock. Installed a new switch. The old switch rattles, which the new one does not. Probably someting broken inside the old switch. Chris 1970 Sahara 2002
  4. The ignition starter lockout (the feature that prevents engaging the starter without going to the off/stop position) on my 1970 2002 works intermittently. About 50% of the time, it won’t let me go to start after going to the off position. After several attempts, it will let me start. I have removed the key cylinder and the ignition switch. After testing, it appears the lockout is in the switch itself. I would like to confirm that the lockout is in the switch and not the key cylinder and that the best repair is a new ignition switch. Thanks Chris Ward 1970 Sahara 2002

  9. Thanks for checking but I need a 4 bolt transmission flange. I might be interested in the long neck 4:10. I'm in Houston and in the DFW area every few months so I could pick it up. Shipping would be $$$$. Chris Ward
  10. Need driveshaft for 4-speed and long neck diff. Chris
  11. I have a 1970 1602 that I run in the LeMons races (a rebuilt drive shaft would cost more than the car and put us over the $500 limit). The front u-joint is bad. The u-joints are held in with snap rings not staked like most models. I ordered the part number shown on RealOEM 26-11-7-518-304 but it is too large. I have tried seraching for u-joints of other models and years but they all come back with the same part number. Rough spes for the the too large part. Cap Dia.: 24.1 mm. Cap to Cap Length:65.1 mm Rough specs for the part needed: Cap Dia.: 21.8 mm. Cap to Cap Length:59.3 mm Does anyone know the correct part number, have one in their parts bin or have any suggestions? Thanks Chris Ward 1970 1602
  12. I need help identying these wheels. They were free but missing center caps. I would like to know what center caps to look for. They will look very nice on my 1970 Sahara 2002. Thanks Chris
  13. Might want to but 4:11 diif. Email me if interested in selling. Chris
  14. Be careful now. That's our LeMons car. It ran 9.5 hours of constant racing before the distributor rotor exploded - its only purely mechanical problem in 13 hours of racing. Too bad the ALMS M3 team can't say that and I bet it cost way more than $500. The car ran as high as 1st and finished 19th out of 96 plus set one of the fastest laps of the race. IT"S NOT NOW IT LOOKS - IT'SHOW IT RUNS!

  17. In case you don't know, Texas allows you to use Year of Manufacture (YOM) Plates. This links gives you some info http://www.turnerplates.com/index.html. The info on the TX DOT link is hard to find. Also if this is not your daily driver, check out the antique car registration $50+/- for 5 years instead of $50 every year plus safety inspection is not required. You can order a reproduction YOM inspection sticker. Chris Ward 1970 Sahara 2002 Houston, TX

  22. Here are the results of the dyno runs on my 1970 2002 – 67 hp @ 5500 rpm and 90 lbs torque @ 3300 rpm at the rear wheels. The run was at 75 ft and air temp was about 80 degrees. The engine is stock except for the following: - Weber 32/36, jetted to CD’s prescription, on Cannon intake. A/F on runs seems reasonable. - Ignition: Stock Distributor with Petronix, new cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Distributor has been removed mechanical advance cleaned. Vacuum advance checked with vacuum pump. Both advances appear to be working. - Exhaust: Tii exhaust manifold, stock down pipe, Ireland 2” Magnaflow mufflers with 2” pipe. - Valves recently set. - Timing set to stock: Ball in center of hole @ 1400 rpm with vacuum advance plugged. - Compression 150-155 psi Car starts and runs very smoothly. It has good low to middle end power but as the curves indicate looses punch at the high end. Is this a normal with this set up? If not, what should I change/check/replace? What would your next major modification be (carb, cam, ignition, exhaust, etc)? I use the car for Autocross and a part-time daily driver. I would like to give it more high end power without greatly diminishing drivability and loosing low end. If you want the detailed Dyno data, PM me. Thanks, Chris Ward 1970 Sahara 2002
  23. Is the gasket between the grill and the headlight bezel available? Neither Realoem nor Walloth & Nesch show the gasket, or I'm missing it. A BMW part number would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris 1970 Sahara 2002
  24. I'm looking for door panels for my 1970 2002. I spoke with World Upholstery but they said theirs only fit the later model 2002's. I know the styling is different between early and later models. Are the door panels physically different? Thanks, Chris
