    Well I like you to Slavs, would love to meet over beers sometime and solve the worlds problems.

    Since "Green" is your favorite color, and since you are the one who correctly identified my old lime green Bilstein Rally Sport shocks where the rears are inverted, you can have them.

    Twenty Five years ago a passer-by walked into my garage while I was working on my car. And, he gave me his 1968 2002 in Manilla. Yes. he gave it to me for free. The car was solid, no rust, but it had been in a couple of accidents where both, the front nose clip and the rear clip aft of the wheels was replaced. Whoever did the job was was not exactly a perfectionist as he welded the rear clip slightly askew. The welding at the front was pretty sloppy. But,the car ran really well and strong. It had a Suspension Techniques springs with these rare Bilstein shocks and 22mm front and 19mm rear sway bar set. The engine was from a later 1970 2002 with new tii pistons and a factory replacement head from 1984. I still have it and rebuilt the head while freshening up the bottom end with new rings and bearings. It will go into one of my 1600s. I plan on leaving one of my 1600 a 1600, though.

    That car really handled well. Frankly, I was surprised. But, the damn shocks are really stiff. They really rattled my  fillings and other parts of my body. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody with hemorrhoids. They have been sitting in my garage for the past 22 years after I completely disassembled that car and chopped up the body in my driveway with an electric saw. To this day I regret it, and I have nightmares over it. I think I sold the nose clip for a mere $75 twenty years ago. It was a factory replacement clip for an early car with no rust. And, I installed the rear sub frame, which has the long 3.64 and larger 2002 drums, on to my 69 1600. If I install the 2 liter along with the transmission and driveshaft from the donor car on to my 69, I will effectively turn it into an early 2002.

    I also threw away the early 68 seats with chrome hardware. They were ripped, but functional with solid frames. What was I thinking ? I must have been suffering from Recaro fever, as I had just found a set of Recaros at the salvage yard. The Recaros turned out to be a disappointment. I could care less for them.

    Back to the shocks, they are in my garage, and I'll send them to you, if you wish. Or, if you're around LA one of these days , I'll hand them to you.

    Slavs, it either time for your medication,? or mine.

    Martian, I like you no matter what's your opinion on the subject.

    But, to add further weight to my argument I will also add a quote by George S. Patton from 1944;

    "We have fought the wrong enemy"

    This in a nutshell summarizes the West's stance and attitude during the Cold War and to this very day.

  3. Sports & Politics:

    With the Tokyo Olympics underway the media’s focus is on sports again. And, there is no shortage of nationalism and politics tied to the Olympic venue, as politics and sports have been inexorably interwoven, perhaps since the inception of the event in ancient Greece.

    A pouty faced Jimmy Carter called on his empire to boycott the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, in protest of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan. And the Soviet Union paid back in kind, boycotting the 1984 games in Los Angeles. The irony couldn’t be more evident now with the US withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan, having invaded and occupied the country twice as long as the Soviets.

    Anti-Russian xenophobia has been brewing in Britain since the Crimean War of the 1850s when Great Britain and its Western European allies backed the Ottoman Turks in an attempt to deny Russia its Crimean Peninsula and an outlet to the warm waters of the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. Britain’s futile attempts are best characterized by the “Charge of the Light Brigade” at the Battle of Balaclava in 1854, a disastrous military gambit immortalized in its romantic notions of martyrdom for the Empire.

    Indeed the Light Brigade has been immortalized in British folklore, poetry and popular culture, inspiring British politicians such as its bellicose Boris Johnson, who drew an analogy in 2018 between Hitler’s hosting of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin to the 2018 World Cup, hosted by Putin. The Russians responded by noting that unlike Great Britain, the Soviet Union boycotted the Berlin Olympic Games. Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, also sent the British Foreign Secretary a black & white photograph of the entire British national soccer squad giving the Nazi salute before their match with Germany at the Olympic stadium in Berlin in 1938. The authenticity of the photograph is irrefutable as this gesture had been ordered by the British Foreign Office as part of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s plan to avoid conflict by appeasing Hitler.

    NATO, with Britain spearheading the charge, continues in its attempts to deny Russia its strategic Crimean peninsula, an integral part of Russia since the late 18th century until more recently in 1954 when Soviet Premiere, Nikita Kruschev, a Ukrainian, placed it under administration of Ukraine. This Western alliance has resorted to all means; economic leverage, a confrontational foreign policy, aggressive expansionism incorporating former Soviet republics and satellite states, partnering with Ukrainian Neo-Nazi paramilitaries and orchestrating coups and regime change, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths, in a futile attempt to realize its goals.

    During the summer of 2016 the US House of Representatives voted unanimously in favor of amending the Ukrainian aid package to exclude US aid to Ukrainian Neo-Nazis who boasted they were being trained and equipped by the US.  But, by the end of that year both, the Obama Administration and the Republicans, led by Paul Ryan, quietly removed such stipulations since the Neo-Nazis are most zealously willing to fight the Russians while the rest of Ukraine remains apathetic.

    The NATO supported Ukrainian junta is undergoing an identity crisis and has turned to its dark and horrid past as it passed legislature to rehabilitate its Nazi quisling WWII era nationalist Ukrainian regime which wholeheartedly participated in the Holocaust while perpetrating the largest massacre of Jews in any single day during WWII at Babi Yar, Ukraine, in 1942. In addition to serving as guards at infamous death camps such as Auschwitz, they filled the ranks of at least two Waffen SS Divisions which are currently being celebrated through an official state sponsored holiday in the Western Ukrainian city of Lvov, where US military units are training and equipping Ukrainian Neo-Nazi paramilitary formations such as the Azov Battalion. These paramilitary formations are proudly displaying WWII era Waffen SS insignia on their banners and uniforms.

    Recent manifestations of this misguided policy are characterized by Britain’s analogy related to sports, described above, and its pursuit of conflict, characterized by its incursions into Russian territorial waters off Crimea. Britannia and the next destroyer it sends into Russian waters will fare no better, though, than its “Light Brigade's” ill-fated charge in 1854.
