  1. I've been to the "Bigfoot Lodge" one too many times, I guess.

I believe in "Bigfoot" though. I've been out there in the woods, alone in heavy snow on skis. And, every noise sets me on edge.

But, big "Bumper" ? Those things are functional, but they are so unsightly.

What's going on these days ?

Who are these incognito urban guerillas driving around in NK cars ? Is this the new direction of the hobby ? There are so few out there. So, they must be classified as a rare "Sighting". I think the chances of seeing "Bigfoot" are better.

  2. When I think of "Sighting" the first thing that comes to mind is Bigfoot. However, this sighting occurred along  Ventura Blvd. & Reseda Blvd. at about 5:30PM on 11/19/22. But, it wasn't Bigfoot heading northbound in the left lane. It was a late sixties 2000NK, beige and in excellent condition. I just pulled out my 67 1600-2 after couple months of hibernation. And, I was heading in the opposite direction when I saw the NK in retro form with Euro rectangular lights. I don't know if he saw me, but I spotted him in pretty heavy traffic.

LA is a big place, but you can't hide from prying eyes. And, I think I know where this car came from. It must be the newly purchased 67 2000NK from Sacramento. It was sold on BAT at a bargain price. All the car needed were some new boots at the rear old school half shafts. And, I saw the car being worked on at a local BMW shop last month.

As far as the "Big Foot Lodge" pictured below. It's an old land mark on Los Feliz Blvd. in Atwater where you can get good beer, listen to edgy post-punk music and imagine you're in a Redwood forest near Eureka , CA, anticipating to see Bigfoot.

  3. Whatever you prefer. You can juggle a lot of things on these cars to suit your taste. Those headrests come off easily, if you decide on the early look. The factory even made chrome plugs for the holes. I've had a mirror on the passenger side, and it didn't really help much. The factory didn't install them on the passenger side. I find the visibility so good that I really don't need one there. So, I removed it and plugged the holes when I last painted the car. The car also looks quite a bit slicker without that extra mirror.

The most difficult part to source on the 68 1600-2 is probably the brake master cylinder. It is mounted on the pedal box like the 66-67 cars, but it is longer. The 66-67 cars use a shorter and much simpler brake master where the rebuild kit is readily available. You can probably use this earlier version , if yours goes South. Or, you can send it in for a rebuild. The seals are complicated. I've never found any kits for it.

    lexapro may help

No ! no need for psychoanalytic therapy and drugs.

I'm quite familiar with clinical psychology and its limitations.

But, since you you have prescribed "lexpro" for me, I would gladly suggest a "laxative" for you, so that you can cleanse yourself of the liquid manure for once in your life. If there is anybody here who is overflowing with it, it's you.

  5. I've removed  a significant amount of my 1,300 posts I've made since I first joined the FAQ back in 2005. It's a tedious process where every post must be removed manually through editing. And, I will continue the process until they are all removed.

Most of these posts relate to 40 years of experience driving and working on these cars and technical details associated with the very early 02s, especially the 66-69 1600s and the 68 2002.  And, while I enjoy sharing the details and knowledge with other enthusiasts, I don't like the direction in which this hobby has gone. It's become hijacked by speculators, collectors and melon vendors who have driven up the prices exponentially. The young yuppies new to the hobby are simply anathema to my ideals. And, I don't want to share this space with them. On his website, one of the "Pricks" was asking somewhere in the order of $300 for a swan neck mirror . As a 22 year old student I survived by being paid to write papers for the same types of A-holes who were too lazy to write their own. I remember commuting to school in my 1600 and even sleeping in it from time to time as I got tired of the commute. The salvage yards, where a swan neck mirror cost a mere $4 and a Euro turn signal only $2, were my parts houses. What is happening now is pure insanity. And, I simply no longer wish to contribute to the madness.

I was here to share info and help people. I wasn't here to start a Capitalist venture. There are people here organizing and "Branding"  events associated with the hobby.  And, I'm certainly do not want to  contribute to their "Business Model" .

It's also difficult sharing this space with former US servicemen, who've dropped bombs on my head and killed family and friends while supporting the empire's proxies such as Neo-Nazis and Mohammedan fanatics. I've come across a few of these half illiterate dim-witts here. What's worse than these "American" working class warriors are America's lap-dogs and Quislings such as all the "Cuba Libre" counter-revolutionaries who still have Batista sticking out of their ass. Shame on you ! You'd rather have the Yankees starve your people for some political gain. Yes ! the same Yankees who've screwed your people for 70 years and had complete control of your country through occupation and corrupt dictators and mockingly placed the Mafia on the throne of your country before the Cuban Revolution put an end to it. Long live the Cuban Revolution, and  in the words of Comandante Che Guevara "Hasta La Victoria Siempre !". And, and in my words Fuck You ! and your fucked up Governor in Florida.

If anybody here knows of a faster method of removing past posts, I would greatly appreciate the info.

  6. I'm actually in the process of removing all of my content from this FAQ. I've had enough of some of the shit-birds here. But, since I suggested the camera, those appear to be standard compression piano top pistons. And, they are only made for a 2.0L as far as I'm aware. The 200mm clutch with a 2L engine is a stretch. Look inside the pan with the camera as well. I'm sure you got an early 2L 6 bolt crankshaft. If that is the case go with a large early 2002 6 bolt flywheel re-drilled to accept either a 215mm or 228m diaphgram pressure plate.

  7. I posted this to illustrate just how unnecessary and senseless it was for this man to die in this manner, in the prime of his life. It's a reflection of just how trivial this hobby really is in the larger scheme of things. And, as expected, there are people here just as trivial, if not more so, unfortunately.

I spent 40 years working on and driving 02s, rummaging through salvage yards across Southern California etc. And, I'm very qualified to make this statement; But, in the end, it's just a car. Some people will never understand that. Oh ! God forbid I bring up something more serious or controversial in the "Off Topic" section. What a farce !

  8. Some people can wear a smile to the end.

Ljubo Copic, a Yugoslav Communist resistance fighter, wearing a smile moments before his execution by firing squad from a rival non-Communist resistance movement on May 9th, 1942. He was born in 1913 in Argentina to a Yugoslav immigrant family and was posthumously rewarded the "Order of the People’s Hero”, a Yugoslav medal for gallantry.

    Have a "Nice Day" !

Wow.  I really don't get it.  "I hope you have a good day."  That's genuine bud.  I hope you have a good day.  "I hope you find a new place to live soon."  Yeah Slavs, I've read several of your posts, especially the ones about how your neighborhood is becoming something other than what you'd like, so I hope you can find a place where you're comfortable.  We all want the same things; to be happy, healthy, feel safe.  That's all I'd like for you, and for us all.  It sucks that there's so much hate in your life you can't see someone saying "Have a nice day" as simply that.

No hard Feelings Dave. I apologize for the confusion. I removed the "Off Topic" content, though. So the likes of you can smile and stay "Happy".

  11. I removed most of my "Off-Topic" content for those of you:

-Who always want to see the glass "Half Full" vs "Half Empty".

-Who don't want to be reminded.

-For those of you who no longer want to play in the same sandbox with me.

-Now, we can go on and play with our "Hot-wheels".

  12. People ask all types of money for 02 parts.

Seats with cracked vinyl are only worth their frames, if not broken. Many 02 seat frames break.

Twenty Five years ago I purchased a similar set of seats from a self service salvage yard. But, my seats are in excellent shape with no rips. They cost me about $25 for both. And,t hey came with the headrests as well. It's just that I don't like headrests, so I removed them. My seats don't have the chrome side trim, but otherwise they are almost identical.

About 10 years back my little Rebel - Rouser of a Shih-Tzu named "Presley" took a bite out of the passenger seat. Of coarse I forgave him, just as I did after he bit me a couple of times. I must admit I had to get stitched up as the little bugger had a  pretty strong bite.  He once bit an old lady who stuck her arm through the fence to pet him. And, he bit a Phillipino guy who he just didn't like, especially after the guy told me that on occasion he ate dogs back home. Good job "Presley" ! My little rebel passed away in 2019 from Lung Cancer at 14 years of age. No, neither he nor I smoked.

I would gladly pay a $1,000 to get my dog back, but I would never pay more than $50 for torn seats. He was a fearless little fighter, pictured here just two months before he passed away. During the last 5 years of his life he went blind from cataracts, but that barely slowed him down.

And Slavs Keep it up we need to hear from all side to get the whole picture.

    Thanks Martian,

I've removed some of the content already, and I'll remove the rest in the future. But, for now I'll leave some of it. The majority of the people don't want to hear the other side because they've been conditioned that way. I made my point already.

On another subject, I'll get those shocks out to you, soon. I got side tracked this week removing contaminated wool attic insulation from my attic. The temp up there is something like 120 Degrees Farenheit +. I found decomposing rat carcasses among other things. The damage those critters can make is remarkable. They can destroy a house or a car, easily. I must have vaccumed 50 lbs. of rat feces in just a 200 sq. ft area of the attic.  If get Hantavirus or whatever it's called, I know where it came from. And there is little room. As the insulation gets contaminated the odor permeates through the walls and into the closets and rooms, just awful ! I almost passed out up there several times from heat and odor along with oxygen deficiency. Even with a respirator mask, it's unbearable. I think I'll wait to clean up the rest of it when it gets cooler as I've removed the worst of it. I don't think it's worth having that stuff up there. I may replace it with foam or just leave it as is.

They've also nearly destroyed some of my 02 parts. Well, they've destroyed some of my spare seats. But, their urine destroys metal parts such as valve seats and crankshafts. It's worse than rust.

So if it makes you feel better to say,"Go play with your Hot-wheels." whatever.  I'm going to go drive my car now because it brings me joy.  Have a good day bud.  I hope you find a new place to live soon.

I've heard that many times. Believe me, I'm used to it by now. So much so, that I don't even get offended by it. Some day you or your descendants will have to  get back on the Maylower and return to wherever you came from.

  15. I made those posts in the "Off Topic" section, not the main board.

You don't have to read them, though.

I get offended just about every day.

I'm not Jewish, as some of you may get the impression from my posts in the "Off Topic" section. And, I'm not entirely pro-Israeli, but I'm neither pro-Palestinian.

If some of you want to check out on the account of my posts in the "Off Topic " section, I'll remove them.

Now, everybody can get back to their playtime with their "Hot-wheels".

  16. Pricing Guide ?

Pricing is all speculative, driven internet related by 02 jingoism and "tii Fever".  The original owner of 2002AD hoarded  2002tiis. During the early 90s you could have picked up a clean one for $5k-$6K. He once told me "They'll be worth $20K by the time I retire". Well, he sold the place, retired, and passed away. What of his tiis, I do not know.  But, if you get the "Fever" , you'll probably end up hording them and not selling.
