  1. Hang out at the Nail Polish counter at the local drug store. There must be something close in all the choices available today. Just tell them it is for your girlfriend/wife. I even found something close to Inka, that I used on my 76 beater.
  2. I need to find this BMW Mecca. I was "blown away" by the article. Just to know that it exists just a couple of hundred miles away, and I might have unknowingly already met the "Collector". Ahhh, the mystery.
  3. How cool....another FAQ "Love Connection". Bringing the world closer, one 02 at a time.
  4. my simple solution to correcting speedo error, which will identify or eliminate the speedo as the problem. THen you can just back out the numbers and determine the diff ratios without opening anything up.
  5. For your tires and 3.64 diff : 3K = 56 mph, 4K = 74 mph. 45 mph = 2450 rpm, 50 mph = 2700 rpm. Either speedo or tach way off, or both. NOT timing. I would bet on wonky speedo.
  6. In my 1802 touring with a 4:11 Diff and 4 speed. 65mph is around 4200 and 70 mph is roughly 4500. These speeds are GPS indicated. The engine seems to run happily in that range all day, and it has more that 175K on it. Just spent 4 hrs on Saturday in that range. Timing won't affect rpm to mph. It is a direct function of final drive, diff ratio and tire/wheel size.
  7. #1. Jay, nice to see that you are still around. Do you still have your 2002? #2. Our usual 2002FAQ response in seeing a 02 in an accident with an ambulance involved is: Gee...that's terrible, I hope that they are alright. #3. The driver is very competent, knows that road well, and it was just a very unfortunate accident. Although I am sure he would admit, in retrospect, he may have made some different decisions. #4. His pain, physical, and emotional is great. He needs our compassion, not personal attacks. I'm sure he feels pretty stupid right now anyway. #5. I know how hard it is to withhold judgement before getting all the facts, but it is the right thing to do. #6. This board is quite unique and special, and everyone including you and the driver of that car deserve respect.
  8. 67 physically, 16 mentally. My grandkids and all you wet behind the ears whippersnappers keep me young. People like Napes, give me hope. Having good health, a loving family, and the joy of driving a Inka Touring everyday. It just doesn't get much better.
  9. That color is Inka, as is this. Inka is a great color for 02s. I really like that Z color you picked, it would also look great on an 02. The color will look different in different lighting. It will even stand out if it is buried in a sea of Italian red..
  10. Does this mean that the bill is still breathing, and they might reconsider??
  11. Bimmerfest is in Pasadena http://www.bimmerfest.com/bmw-events/Bimmerfest-2012/ Bay Area 02 Swap and Show is in Brisbane May 5th http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,50/page,viewtopic/t,370348/
  12. I was with you in spirit, I love the Shamrock. Just the 5 hr drive up and 5 hr back wasn't in the cards this year. Glad you keep putting it on. "I will be back". What route this year? Any snow? We got some in SB. Shamrock 2009
  13. Well it could be Steve.....the car is red, and he lives in Dublin, CA. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY
  14. Would love to see that at an upcoming SB C&C, Steve. Though at the pace gov't operates, it could be a year from now... Paul Hey Paul, nice to see you in my favorite forum. Unfortunately the 76 is not exactly C & C material, unless I get points for "well-worn". Although, if I don't have to deal with smog issues, it will make it on the road sooner. Were you looking for a cheap "project car". Quite a project, but driveable. here it is the last time I uncovered it. Which was over two years ago.
  15. Thanks for setting a date...now it is up to us to show up..
  16. Done....now I might really have a chance of getting the 76 back on the road.
  17. Can't help. Mine doesn't have any. I just folded the seats down and made it a two seater coupe.
  18. Let me know if you want the Hi Rez versions of my pics.
  19. Or, out the back of your Touring...
  20. I live 10 minutes from the Rose Bowl and never had the desire to go to Bimmerfest. The first year at the dealership were great memories though. I hope Brisbane is on May 5th myself. I agree, Early Santa Barbara Bfest was classic. May 5th and I can make Brisbane along with a SoCal to NorCal caravan, and won't miss the Grand daughter's 5th birthday party...Win-Win for me.
  21. Gordon has been in the sandbox serving our country the last few years, so now that he is back, I suspect he is getting caught up on the old FAQ threads. Thanks Gordon, and welcome back. Hope to see you this spring. Yeah, this is a great thread, old or new...
  22. If I have to choose between Brisbane or Bimmerfest, I would choose Brisbane, even if it is a lot more driving. Bimmerfest never seemed to take the Brisbane event into consideration when they make their plans. BayArea has had the weekend after Mother's Day historically for years. The only conflict that counts with me is my granddaughter's birthday party, which I will not miss. Would you rather be here? A sea of monochromatic later model BMWs. or here? a colorful collections of vintage BMWs. I agree with all the others....BayArea02 guys...please set the date so we can make plans. And Matt, what is more fun.. a drive up the twisties of Hwy 25, on the way to Brisbane, or bumper to bumper traffic in LA on the way to Bimmerfest??
