Both roundies and squares have the bulb wattage (and actual reflector candlepower ratings) molded into their rear bulb reflectors

    • Brake/Stop lamp (all)-21 Watt — 7506/1156/2396  Red

    • Rear Turn Signal lamp (all) -21 Watt — 7506/1156/2396 Amber

    • Tai/Running lamp (roundie)-6 Watt — 5007 Red

    • Tail/Running lamp (square)-10 Watt —

    89 Red

    • Reverse lamp (roundie)-10/15 Watt — 1003 White

    • Reverse lamp (square)-21Watt — 7506/1156/2396 White

Where multiple bulbs are cited, the brightness order is lowest-to-highest.

NOTE: The Tail/Running lamps aren’t just lower wattage (a 21 Watt bulb WILL melt the plastic of the Taillight holder and/or lens) — they also have the shorter bulb height which those reflectors need to focus properly…

Well done. The two pics need to be saved somewhere as no one thinks to look at the reflectors.

    What about this:

    Screenshot(93).thumb.png.37dbcba06b20260d1bdac74616f901cd.png

    # 51 41 1 816 298

It is shown as a flat style. But entering the # in the W&N catalogue, the high style appears. Damned. Well, we'll see...

    henn

However, item 1 (in Black) is 51 41 1 816 281 and if you check the listing below that picture in the Blue Book it is noted as left side for LHD (even though the pic shows a right side handle).

I'm looking for a right side part what's the driver's side for a RHD car. Exactly like this:

    P8080014-2.thumb.JPG.77bf9e67e5a9ced0c3734acaea03467d.JPG

Does anybody know if this version exists at all? Whenever I found pictures of RHDs, they show these:

    P8080016.thumb.JPG.79d6e3a791e6e470af859fcb6baedad7.JPG

I'd like to have symmetry but with the smaller handles.

    henn

Ah, ok. My mistake, although I thought all RHD right side handles were like your last (bottom) picture. Don't think BMW suplied a 'flat' one for the RHDs.

Yes, I know this actually belongs in the parts wanted section. But I'm thinking that nobody from the UK would look there since shipping overseas is expensive. And in the UK forum I've seen a post mentioning that that place seem to be abandoned.

So i'm looking for a black right side inner door handle (not the lever). It's the flat style without the branch upwards. The picture shows the LHD version. Willing to trade a long right side version (what maybe lux for RHDs). Needs to be shipped to Germany. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Henning

    Ok, I'm confused.

Are you looking for the 'normal' RHD Passenger (LEFT) door handle - like the pic below. If so, like John said

I know Jaymic, Fay is very helpful, just seeing if anyone has any parts they want to get rid of cheap before buying new.

The shell is quite bad, however you can be to choosey when trying to buy a Tii. I’ve only seen one other and that was £9,000 and also quite bad.

I don’t want a good one as I love restoring cars. Also as I’m very fussy I would end up even restoring a 30 grand car .

    John,

    I see!

If your buying 'used' then (below) is probably your best forum option. Shipping from over here (USA) would be prohibitive for anything over a few ounces. Buying new, obviously Jaymic & Linwar (maybe others in UK as I've been gone a loooong time). Walloth & Nesch have shipping discounts now & then, so, worth a try.

Oh, and if your feeling bullet proof, there's always FaceBook.

    Good luck with the tii.

    Unbelievable!

Not to far from you is a place called Jaymic. Use google and check them out.

I'm running into 1600/1602's that are higher numbers than the 1061683 that I first looked at.  I'm wondering if those posted numbers are correct, I've sent off to Andreas looking for information on a 1602 sn 1062184/VN and a 2002 sn 3629581. The suffix /VN identifies the CKD's assembled in Portugal.  Mysteries from the past for sure!

    image0.jpg

It would appear my info is not complete. I now know VIN 1063700 & 1063786 both are 1972 1602s assembled in Portugal. The mystery continues.

    The 3629581 is a German built 1971 2002.

Carl Nelson (La Jolla Independent BMW Service) has (presume he still does) the only US spec 2002 convertible built.  Story goes that an AF guy stationed in Germany went to order a US spec 2002 directly from the factory in Munich (bypassing Hoffman Motors).  As he was going through the option list, one was listed as "convertible" (or possibly "cabriolet".  He checked the box, and he ended up with a US spec 2002 convertible.  I can verify the car is US spec because I've driven it.  It's Chamonix, and it has a 257XXXX VIN.  It's featured in a Katy Perry music video, so you might be able to find it on You Tube or elsewhere.

Carl's car is definitely an outlier, as the other 200 or so were not made to US specs.  There was also a unique-to-convertible color, Kondor Gelb.  Saw a 1600 convertible painted that color at Vintage many years ago, when it was held at Sheldon Winery in NC.

Interesting. Carl must have had 2 Cabrios then.

According to a copy of the Cabriolet Owners Register 2 January 1987, Carl had a 1970 Chaminox Cabrio 1558394, but no mention of the US spec Cabrio.

  9. Apparently a common problem. I have number 3 stalk switch waiting to go in, (#2 was supposedly good!!!) but i'm wondering if there is another reason for being able to flash the high beams with the stalk pulled but not have them come on with the stalk pushed.

my 2/68 1600 does not have this feature

My dad's 5/69 Cabriolet does, but it's not the front parking lamp that illuminates, it's the headlight that does

That 5w bulb in the Euro headlight bucket is called a 'sidelight' when both are on (used in low light before dark) when driving and called a 'parking light' when one ( say left) is on plus the left tail light whilst parked on a dark street. It was the law in the UK if parked on a street with no lighting.

Running these overnight will not run your battery down if you had a 'back in the day' Euro battery that would happily last a good 15+ years.

Thanks 02Les!  The late '70 makes sense, from what I can see of the pics.  It has the 6-fuse panel, short rear bumpers etc.  Looks to be in excellent condition, reportedly just had major rubber-bits and suspension bits re-done.  I have yet to see it in person, but pics make it look quite nice.  Cars here have no rust, a very pleasant surprise after living in New England and seeing how those cars were eaten away!  As to the color, not one I know the name of, I'll see if there is a color-name under the hood.  It is a color that looks lite-goldish or light green/gold depending on the light, from the photos.  Attached is a pic, maybe you can tell me?

O2Les,  could you expand on the the piece "The piece that starts at the A pillar runs over the door area, across the top of the B pillar and over the rear side window to the C pillar.".

    Name or part# ?

    Thanks

    Yes, what Mike S. said.

Where the pinch welt crosses over the B pillar, the bottom of the pw is cutout.
