  1. The block will also have a VIN stamped on it where the starter motor fits (pic). Last USA tiis were made in '74, unless you have a Euro tii, as they were manufactured up to 12/75. Let us know the VIN and we'll tell you the year.
  2. Scroll down about halfway and on to the bottom of the page and you'll find 4 Turbos with these flares. original? or not? http://www.2002ad.com/pages/carsforsale.cfm
  3. I queried "only_topless"s statement that this was just as the car left the factory. In addition to the flares, the additional licence plate lights, odd positioning of the door mirror and 320is? wheels. I believe the car came from Japan where I have noticed other Turbos with these integrated flares (2002AD seems to cornered the market in these "odd" Turbos). Anyway, following is the answer I received from "only_topless" Dear 02les, This is NOT quite true. If you examine another rare BMW 2002, eBay listing, number 130189308897, you can see that all the FENDER FLAYERS are integrated in. Our Orange 2002 ALPINA TOURING does have plastic rivets and/or screws for all added on fender flayers. Will send you a photo if interested! To the best of our knowledge, the 2002 BMW TURBO/s were produced with add on buttoned aerodynamic piece parts such as fender flayers front Air-Dam and the rear spoiler. Upon customer's request and special order/s BMW contracted BAER as well as other professional shop/s, i.e. ALPINA's conversion division, at that time, to integrate some or all the aerodynamic body piece parts , including the front Air-Dam and the rear spoiler. This exclusive car was one of the hand-full with integrated FENDER FLAYERS. Two of the other white 2002 TURBO/s, with fully integrated aerodynamic piece parts were converted to DANA and shipped to the old Shah of Iran's General. Through the Tehran?s BMW Dealership, the VAHABZADEH import/s This web site, http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi can also confirms this 2002 TURBO is truly one of the real and legitimate TURBO/s produced by BMW. The BMW?s historic web site could also be used for validation/s. Only_topless
  4. BMW had both strategies going for them in the '70s. Like the backwards Turbo script.
  5. I sold a mint pair of 2500-3.0cs Factory Manuals a couple of years ago for $180. Methinks you have a bargain Michael.
  6. My understanding is that the 4 spd came as standard on the 320i. The 5 spd came on the 320is.
  7. Is your ac working/wired. The ac harness would have been maybe fitted in the US at the time of ac installation.
  8. John, Very sorry to hear this. Cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. As you can see from the previous posts, you have many friends here and any help you need, you need only to ask. Les Cartwright
  9. Like Mike said. Here's a link to Maximillian. http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/bmw/
  10. Geez, the UK has changed since I left. Global warming for sure. Shorts & T-shirts in January, or picture repeat? Great pics all the same.

  12. It's OK (I think) assuming it's a UK (RHD) tii.

  16. Yes, it was good to see you again John. Sorry I couldn't hang around longer. Jim, I still have the pistons/rods. They were for my first project car, that has now been relegated to sleeping project. One day; it's just a matter of time.

  18. If that's the UK then the picture was taken during a severe drought. Maybe South Africa (Kaylami) or Australia.
  19. For other fools like me........what in the World is HDDST?
  20. So, when did BMW start using these shrouds? My late '73 manuf Touring never came with one, and the first time I ever saw one was on my '76. The original radiator (no place to connect a shroud to it) was fine until the car arrived in Texas and I then installed a 320 rad to assist cooling. I do not have a shroud and have no cooling issues.
  21. James, If you want to part with the BS compliance sticker, let me know. All the lettering has been wiped off mine on the Touring. lescartwright@juno.com
  22. Actually, the last LHD Euro Tiis left the factory in Jun '75. The last RHD Tiis were made up until Oct '75. So quite possible this "barn find" was first registered in the UK in '76. They stopped making US spec Tiis in Dec '74.
